Perhaps, but the world works in mysterious ways. Who knows, he could have shot someone else in her place. The Universe bought these two together for some reason.
I mean....if we REALLY want to talk about fate. Some of you suggested that Renisha had it coming (ie, she deserved to die)...but how do you know Theodore didn't have this coming as well?
Well I don't believe in fate. I'm a denier of all supernatural notions.
I'll also point out that my ability to sympathize with him increased in proportion to my ability to sympathize with her decreasing.
I had a lot more sympathy for her back when I thought she had an accident while sober, and merely started knocking on the doors of houses nearby for help, and got shot for no reason.
When you start to realize that she was drunk off her ass, and had a track record of DUI (seemingly) and that she HAD help (twice) at the scene of the wreck itself, but ran off... and personally, I consider it almost unquestionable that at least part of why she left the scene was that she didn't want help if that help came with strings attached like, y'know, a breathalyzer.
I think she had just enough coherence and self-preservation instinct left to her to realize that if she came into contact with police, she was boned.
I think her repeating "I just want to go home" was a naive, drunken attempt to get neighbors to take her home and not summon the authorities.
She has become a considerably less sympathetic figure due to the info that has come out.
