You can counter sue all you want but Juries tend to look at much different things. My friend I mentioned for the bar fight got hit in the head FIRST with a bottle. He then proceeded to beat the living shit out of five guys. Was he in the right. Sure. He was also a martial arts instructor with a deadly skill set that some jurisdictions look at worse than having a gun. In court he was painted as a trained killer who should have known when to stop. You can be made liable for the person you hurts family. Is it wrong sure but its the reality of our court system.

He lost his house, liberty and the privilege of seeing his kids grow up. FUCK that. Im still pissed at the whole situation.

In high school I got into a fight with a couple of seniors and broke one their noses so bad he had to be hospitalized and his parents took my parents to court. We were lucky the judge tossed it out since it was just one strike. If I had stood over them and pounded them it would have turned out differently.

Almost unbelievable to have that happen in Florida. I would love more details so I can read about what happened.

His lawyer must've screwed him somehow. No way were there witness that showed he was outnumbered, someone started it with him, and he still served time over it.

Trained or not, there is quite a bit of case law for similar situations.. And one person vs multiples, all bets are off for the outnumbered person. I recall one case in particular where a guy was outnumbered 3 to 1, he beat two of their heads in with a mallet and was going after the third before people pulled him off.

It was brutal, and WAY over the top. His case revolved around the fact that with multiple people against him he had to make absolutely sure none of them got up.


What you're describing often happens in states that have duty to retreat laws. But not in any state that supports victim's rights.

If you are viciously attacked you should have the legal right to defend yourself via any means necessary until all threats are stopped.

That means not being physically able to get up and shoot you in the back.
