No fire repellent built in in those days.
The history of fire resistant clothing predates the photo by a long time. Fire resistant clothing for fire brigades or common folk until the late sixties or early seventies. A couple hundred years after methods were discovered to prevent flames from lighting up fibers. The last place I lived at my neighbor was a retired fire captain who'd often chat with me over a drink and I learned quite a bit about fire and fire safety from him. He began his service in the late sixties and retired in the early 2010s. Sadly he passed due to cancer a couple years ago. One of his sons had just gotten married in the midst of the pandemic and his wife was due to have their first child. He and his wife had already become grandparents with their older son and daughter but a new baby is always a delight. He was really looking forward to meeting his new grandson.

appropriate action
Hey, any news on what other things you consider an insurrection? As I’m confident you’re a person with principles I imagine you can think of at least one other.

Intervention needed ASAP.

There is no intervention needed. My issue is with the horrific and terrible people that make up today's Republican party - don't feel special, you are just one of tens of millions. The only intervention that can save the sane and decent folk from them is a split of the country. This has nothing to do with me. A lot of us are disgusted by what you people are.

What I find interesting about this is that the 2 seats need to be filled for the time period before the special elections, and the local legislative body of the county where the ejected member resides gets to choose the fill in person. So they can just choose to have the ejected member as their representative and that member cannot be unseated again for the same offence. Should they choose that route it would be deliciously ironic and doubly so if the 2 are voted back in again.

Well, truthfully, Democrats havent fulfilled too many promises to the black community. I can understand why SOME might be fed up and actually considering the GOP. Obviously thats a bad idea too but I cant blame them.

What on earth are you talking about.
this is too big an issue for right here but you need to either find a black person and talk to them, OR you need to read some articles or watch some vids by black Americans.
MANY of them are disillusioned by the DNC.

I know plenty of black people. What is the complaint, specifically?

I didnt say all the blacks, and they arent defecting. Because the GOP doesnt own them.
What I SAID WAS: some American blacks are fed up with the democrats. And if you look closely at republican rallies every once in a while you will see the occasional black man, though there's conspiracy theories those are actors.

Black voters gave Biden the nomination by saving his ass in SC and then turned out in record #s (for non-Obama years) so he could win the general. You're suggesting that they should be/are making perfect the enemy of the ... not catastrophically horrible.

Some random craiglist plant at a glorified klan rally doesn't mean there is any noticeable shift.

The TN Republicans have sent a message to the rest of the nation. That being the well worn adage: "We don't mind 'cuz y'all don't matter". They're going to stand their ground on being racist fascists and fuck all what the rest of the nation thinks about that. I'm mildly suprised that the RNC didn't try to turn the heat down in TN and maybe they tried it a bit by having FOX practically turn a bind eye to what was going down that day, however that only supports the idea that those racist legislators in TN really don't care about the damaging optics they were presenting to the nation.

So fuck you very much you supremacist fascist TN conservatives, you guys are on the wrong side of history and eventually it will come back at you much harder than the way you delt out those shameful expulsions.

Interesting. What other insurrections do you think have happened?

A pair of Black legislatures in TN did not wait their turn, then they got loud and boisterous on the chamber floor. AKA they caused a scene to make a point. Against rules, sure. Needed a slap back, sure. But this? Oh hell no.

Republicans called it an insurrection. A wildly fictitious embellishment and an obvious endorsement of Jan 6th. They aim to retaliate here with such slander and out of proportion escalation.

And it is likely going to get worse ...

Damn...
This is how states become segregated between Red and Blue. Open hostility between one another to drive the minority party out. Hopefully it remains civil, but can you really see it going that way? Me neither. A not so small number of people in cities are going to riot if the Republicans really desire push coming to shove. Then what, burn the state and its own revenue down? One might utter the words "it didn't need to come to this". To whit I reply, oh hell yes it did.

Republicans lite the fire, we will fan the flames, and together as Americans we can burn all our own houses down.
If they do not want civil discourse, what choice is there?

Get over yourself.
You dont know everything.
You clearly dont know what I'm saying.
Rather than ask questions you made assumptions and lies.

Remember all these rural fucks actually think they are the ones supporting the cities. They won't care when the cities start losing jobs like crazy.
