All I want is for them to fix the idiotic blinding that happens when someone uses a tac light or laser. It's not even close to realistic, and is a lame "tactic" used by schmucks.

It's difficult to replicate the disorientation that occurs when your eyes are hit by light like that.

But many can assure you, a tactical flashlight will screw you up to a degree when aimed at your eyes, even in broad daylight. It is why cops will use them, and why they are used in close quarters on some occasions.

Is it a little "overdone" in BF3? Perhaps, but IMHO it's pretty damn good - remember, it was a lot worse before.

And I don't even use the taclight, though I do use the laser... for quick aiming though, any disorientation is just a side effect.

I don't need assurance by anyone. I have used one in a combat zone, In Iraq and Afghanistan. The tac light DOES NOT blind you in day light, like it does in this game from 20 meters away. In darkness? Sure it does, they're very bright. I hate that people use it, just to blind you. It's idiotic, and needs to be fixed. There is no tactical reason to use one in day light maps, they're just trying to blind the enemy. They've toned it down once, but it's not even close to accuracy. They brag about recording live gun fire to get it as close to accurate as they can. Obviously they did zero research on the tac light. It is the #1 thing I dislike about this game. I swear I wish I could punch whoever does it in the face.

Key word: exaggerated

Those lights are blinding and disorienting in broad daylight, but at 2m away, obviously not from afar though. Cops use them for that exact purpose. The effect IS strongest at night, but close up in daylight it does the trick too.
But physical disorientation from a bright light in your face, in real life (even if not outright blinded)

i love people who use the tac light its like a giant SHOOT HERE beacon

Not if you use it right...keep it off when you are stationary/engaging at medium range, only turn on when moving up, combine with flash suppressor or silencer to hide muzzle flash...I frequently get 3-4 kills with one mag of a P90 this way on CQB maps. As long as you keep it pointed right in their face and you strafe you won't get hit. It may be lame but it sure is effective.

Tac lights and lasers are the very definition of un-fun

Yeah they are, if you are RIGHT in front of them. Not even close to blinding from 20m away.

I have far more experience than you do with them, if I am guessing. You've posted twice that "cops use them". Well guess what, not only am I a Marine who like I said have used such tac lights and "lasers" (PEQ15/14's) in two combat deployments, but I am also a cop. I have done countless hours on MOUNT training, and have been on the receiving end of a surefire many times. Plus, Marines like to prank each other a lot, and do stupid things when we have down time. I've been hit in the eyes many times with a tac light. I have plenty of Surefires, and the same kind that BF3 uses.

The simple fact is, it's much too exaggerated to be even close to realistic. And people (re:douche bags) use them to blind people in day light on purpose. And the PEQ won't to it unless it is exactly in your eye, not even an inch off. There is even one such person who admitted to using it for such a reason a few posts before me. Just because it's in the game, doesn't mean you should use it. Just like the one shot/kill smoke 40mm. People spammed it all over till it got patched out.

You can see my PEQ, and my Surefire is on the rail on the other side of my weapon. Don't feel like digging to find a pic with it exposed. Don't mind the pot field behind me, it's of no consequence...

Yeah some people may think it's nit picky, I just find it stupid that it is so over used, and exaggerated in the game. It's the worse thing I hate about the game, and the fact that I have to keep selecting my server settings all the time. It unchecks my regions, game types, and maps I selected every few days. Pisses me off also.

I'm not trying to debate it, so don't misunderstand. Tapatalking is ugh, and don't feel like tethering to the lappy (already tethering to my nexus7. On annual training and away from my rig :().

Personally, I've always considered a Surefire to the face to the mildly disorienting, in the milliseconds of reaction department. I don't train with them, though.

Laser light in the game obviously needs work: outside of rare atmospheric conditions, laser light isn't seen, doesn't illuminate or blind, unless the beam terminates/is focused on your eyeballs. I never argued "for" the laser implementation though.

Seeing as you have the true experience, these details will bother you. But these FPS games will always strike a balance between simulation and arcade, to foster a particular style of competition. There's a LOT that needs work, if you want to nitpick realism. ;)

The light engine alone makes this an issue, because until we have dream-worthy hardware, the engines and displays cannot truly mimic our irises, so the way changing light levels are rendered will be out of touch with reality.

They could tone it down, sure... and yes, people use it against others in ways that aren't in touch with reality... but there are many occurrences of this, not just with the rail-mounted surefires.

Adapt and overcome. That's the BF answer to these inconsistencies and overuse of exploits. :p

hmmm not so great:
anybody had any issues like this?
7950 running 12.7 beta

With those weird color stuff in the middle of the screen? I had it one time on the server with wacojohnnie... I was running blind for awhile and had to restart my PC a few times to fix it...

I will reboot a few times tonight and try another server......

I went through 5 loops of heaven and then let it do its menu walkthrough all night and nothing crashed out as far as I could tell
