Hi guys, are there any tricks you want to share in regards to mouse setups? I saw a video where the player set his Logitech mouse to have a very high DPI. Like maxed out. Then he compensated by having the sensitivity in game to be very low (almost zero). What's the difference between setting the sensitivity in-game (BF3) versus on the device level?

I have a Logitech mouse with pretty high DPI so I can replicate it but I don't really understand the advantage.

probaly because the mouse is accurate while the game is probably using some sort of multiplier on what it receives from the mouse

That's something I still need to mess around with, never really felt like it.

On my G700, when playing BF3, I pretty much play with a low DPI (iirc, 1000 or thereabout).

Might need to drop the sensitivity in game and raise the DPI toward max (5600, I think).

Using what I've had, along with "raw mouse input", I've felt like I'm doing what I should be doing. Not an all-star by any means, so what I've accomplished I feel is right up my alley.

I'll have to play around with it, see if I can eek just a little more out of my slightly-above-average abilities. :D

And I'm just going to say this: I seriously really, really hate hardware drivers. That is all.
I'll update with more once I actually determine I've returned to true BF3 stability (still have a few things that need re-enabled, re-installed, etc - but it felt like it was down to drivers and maybe, just maybe...

More video of Armored Kill: Armored Shield Map

The four maps in Armored Kill are:

Death Valley
Bandar Desert
Alborz Mountain
Armored Shield

Ugh, I don't know what is worse, those two idiots talking about that map/play mode, or the map/play mode itself. I appreciate DICE trying new things, but that just looked stupid. Maybe I will be pleasantly surprised. I am looking forward to new large conquest maps though!

LOL, this is basically a video of a short bald guy and tall effeminate guy looking fondly into each other's eyes while talking about a video game.

Guys, I have a question and I figured you all would be a good sort to answer it. In the Planetside community a lot of people assert that prone in shooters promotes camping. However, the people that say this never seem to have any evidence or anecdotal observations to back this argument up. Can any of you come up with actual evidence, that is, something more than mere opinion, that supports that argument? I mean, for example, someone could try to say that BC2 had less camping since it didn't have prone; but the last time I played it, it had just as much camping as any other game.

And since telemetry, as far as I know, doesn't have any way of measuring this either, I don't even think that the companies that run the games could give you proof.

I dont think that is something you can prove. Camping is an effective tactic, and modern level design seems to promote it. Camping wasnt effective in the Quake days because there was nothing to hide behind, and generally you couldnt blend in, unless you used a model of a crate as your player model. People would camp in real life, so its understandable that it happens in games.

yeah I can see it making it easier

in tdm on noshar people prone and back into corners, and it happens in CQ some too

but what are you going to do?

I hated not having prone in BC2

The best you could do in Quake was back into a corner and hope someone ran by and didnt notice you long enough for you to get the drop on them.

Even though there was no prone in BC2 people sure used crouch to hide behind every bush, rock and in every conceivable nook and cranny available.

Im not big on camping but I hate not having prone as an option. I also liked being able to "lean" around corners in CoD4, but its not as important as prone.

See, that was my point. It didn't stop camping in BC2. But what I mean is, sure, prone might make sniping a little safer. But does it actually cause even one person to camp who would not have camped in the absence of it?

Note of course that for Planetside there is a heavy emphasis on outfit and squad teamwork. So for them, if you, as part of a coordinated assault, set up temporarily outside of a base and fire in to support the assault, you're not camping; and actually, the same thing could be said of Battlefield as well, the difference is that in BF, with relatively few players, people can attempt to argue that their high camping KDR is helping the team. Whereas, camping would be someone who isn't coordinating his play with others and just sits in one spot for kills, only moving when the kills dry up. I mean, really, is there any observable evidence that there mere lack of prone will prevent camping in any way, or that the mere presence of prone will cause even a single person to camp that would not have otherwise?

But see, I'm not just asking this so that everyone can agree that prone is needed, if there actually is any evidence, even anecdotal, I'd like to know about it so I can consider it.

generally when I recon with a bolt action, I try to move with my squad and provide fire support and spotting support, unless I am soflaming actively

sure I sat on that hill for 2 minutes not moving, but my friends were capping and I was keeping an eye

prone makes it easier for sure and in CQ the corner prone campers play such a small role i wouldnt remove it to ban them

and I think those losers are camping no matter what, no matter how easy or hard it is on them

I dont think the lack of prone would hinder campers at all, but I have no way to prove that.

Campers are cunningly adaptive creatures and will use any and all available slimy tactics to their advantage. :sneaky:

I mostly run and gun like a madman, but..... Who here among us hasnt slipped into a corner or hid behind some cover overlooking a high traffic or spawn area and boosted thier KDR? Even if it was just for a few minutes. Ive often said when accused of camping " Im not camping, Im defending...... this particular spot". :D

Are there machine guns that are as accurate as sniper rifles at range? For example, can I take an M60, but a 6x scope on it, and shoot single fire as accurately as a Mark 11 Mod 0?

So is Close Quarters still worth getting right now?

Some of the gun unlocks you get with CQ have become some of my favorite weapons to use. Notably the MTAR 21 for engineer and Scar L for assault. I've pretty much quit playing any of the CQ maps and went back to playing 64 Conquest though. The CQ Domination is fun for a while but it got pretty stale for me.

I was looking to get it, but then saw the Premium shit. Not sure if I should just get that or forsake all the expansions.
