Played some BF3 with 2 guys yesterday after a long hiatus and wow there were a lot of newbies playing. We got 3 of the top 4 slots. Guess we'll see a resurgence of players for Armored Kill. Should be fun times.

Let me start a BF4 FAQ:

When will Battlefield 4 be released? BF4 will be released after September 21, 2013 but before April 1, 2014.
Will there be a beta? Yes.

There you go.

yea there were a TON of news out there when CQ first came out, its fun yet annoying at the same time. I however will never get tired people assuming going prone makes you invisible to the tank thats 20 feet from you. got it never gets old just blasting them skyhigh

I think it was tweeted that the open beta will be Sept/Oct 2013.

Update on BF4 release: http://techreport.com/discussions.x/23348

Hey Gully, is it time for a BF4 thread yet? ;)

Let me start a BF4 FAQ:

When will Battlefield 4 be released? BF4 will be released after September 21, 2013 but before April 1, 2014.

Called it. :D

EA is being very predictable, but taking a better approach to the "anti-COD" competition campaign/release cycle.
"Hot on the heals" of BF4 in Fall 2013, will be MoW:Warfighter 2 in Fall 2014.
I just hope they don't call it Warfighter 2 - way too predictable... but very EA.

Hopefully the BFness remains in BF4 though.
And hopefully - and I am expecting otherwise - they don't strip too much from BF4 launch just to make a strong DLC approach later. A lot of content at release? I'll humbly accept quarterly DLC -- it keeps the servers full, brings fresh blood, and if I tire of it and quit playing, it gives me more playtime with new content without investing in a full-priced game.

Of course... I have to be able to play the damned game. I haven't been playing much of anything else since I've just been so damn annoyed and peeved that I can't bring BF3 back to life, and have stuck to stubbornly trying to fix it instead of doing much else. :(

Hey guys, I haven't been keeping up with the updates (what they nerfed or what they made stronger). Can anyone tell me some of the widely recommended/suggested attachments for guns? I like the foregrip but I just saw in a YouTube video that it's not recommended and there are some cons to having it. What sort of gun setups are you using?

Fore grip is only good for guns with high horizontal recoil - aek, f2000, mtar, etc, i.e. the spraying guns. Heavy barrel is good for pretty much everything. Flash suppressor is good for guns with high vertical recoil for short range maps (e.g. SCAR-H on CQB maps). Silencer is mostly crap unless you are really aiming to go behind enemy lines frequently. Taclight is awesome for CQB but many servers ban it.

I don't use any attachments on the M16 atm, well I have under barrel sling but only because I can't select none. Especially on barrel attachments, the negatives all distract me at some point enough that the benefits don't weight in. Fore grip is and actual benefit in the cases QuantumPion mentions.

I really dislike the attachment system atm, give me a pure bonus (even if it's small) and no negatives. At least have 1 option like that per slot.

I nearly always run a red dot with either a heavy barrel or flash suppressor on everything except snipers, shotguns, and PDW's. I usually snipe with an 8x scope and use extended mags along with red dots on PDW's and shottys. I also prefer using slugs in the shotguns as they usually make for one hit kills and can be used at longer ranges with aimed fire.

Man I cannot stand it when as Recon I get a SOFLAM up way behind enemy lines, I'm lazing the sh1t out of helicopters and tanks, I'm pasting in team chat heli lazed or whatever, and F'ing no one is bothering to take it out. Only for it to fly out of range, and then go circling around killing our team and allowing the other team to capture the objective(s) the heli/tank/whatever was just at.

FFFFFFFFffffffff!!!!!!

Close Quarters was okay for a very short while for me, then I quickly grew tired of it.

I prefer the big maps with vehicles and a variety of options on how to approach the game play. I can't stand Call of Duty, maybe that is why I didn't like it, felt largely like their stab at getting that crowd.

Enjoyed CoD 4 but got boring. Battlefield is just so much more of an innovative franchise overall with the vehicles, maps, weapons etc. The only tight map combat FPS I've every really enjoyed and still do is counter-strike.

Agree x1000.

I do wish the post-BF2 ecosystem from Dice wasn't so locked down though. It'd be cool to see community mods/maps, and especially more game modes.

I think I've posted it before, but I'd LOOOOOOOVE to see a BF3 game mode with extremely limited lives/vehicles.

Perhaps have a limit of 3 infantry spawns total, a single air vehicle of each type, spawns of each major ground vehicle, and three spawns of each regular jeep. Once you die the third time without being revived = bam, out of the game to watch the rest of it until the next map. It would really instill teamwork, and give some satisfaction to taking out big vehicles or talented rivals.

One of the best features of this game is the ability to alt-tab out very quickly. No other game is as fluid.

Absolutely agreed. My favorite FPS games ever were 10 minute timed rounds of Ghost Recon, 3 spawns. Makes you think twice about running full speed everywhere. Teamwork and tactics much more important. Dying actually means something.

That kind of game play is for the truly hardcore. Its not my idea of fun, because it causes most people to simply crawl in a corner and camp for fear of dying. However, it would be nice if devs would give us the ability to run these and other game types with more advanced server options than we have now.

With the separate key for the bi-pod, I put that on my assault rifles. Great for making the long range shots or covering a narrow space.
