So I recorded some video and here is the link. Nothing very exciting or special, just thought i'd share. Its 17 minutes long and has some decent highlights. Sniping gunner out of chopper, taking down choppers with tank (2 in a row) and some decent sniping. It has some slow parts, so only watch if bored.

Sniping can make cool videos sure. But thats all its useful for.

Any other class is more useful than a sniper. This isn't like BF2142 where Sniper actually had roles that were useful.

100% untrue. On cq a mav or soflam can be pivotal.

Cant answer for him (he used zoom), but Ill take thermal optics over smoke any day. I consider smoke fairly useless on a tank. However I consider reactive armor a must since the tank nerf.

And recon is certainly not a useless class, as Zargon said soflam and motion sensors can turn the tide in lots of games. A good sniper can hold some flags nearly all on their own.

Tank smoke makes you invulnerable to JAV's and aircraft guided missiles, also makes repairing safer. A must-have on the big vehicle maps, not as crucial on smaller maps as most engi's don't use jav's.

or atleast slow down the squad while you scream at your BL party to get their ass in gear and help :D

I run smoke reactive and guided on tanks 100% of the time

Whoops, meant zoom optics, not thermal optics!

Aside from the usual reactive armor & smoke CM combo, I'm switching off between the canister shell and LMG alt fire. Guided shells and laser painters are pretty useless when you're pubbing.

Any classes played properly will be an asset to the team. Unfortunately I see a lot of people playing like dumbases when they play recon, not using their tools to the fullest potential. Then again, I've also seen medics and support running around not reviving nearby teammates or even bother dropping ammo.

With that said, I have not played BF3 in like 3 weeks, WTF is wrong with me!!!

Last time I used guided shells they were a pain to use even with a good teammate on voice. That was before the last couple of patches, have they been improved any?

I always use the alt fire LMG, it works great combined with thermal optics to charge in and wipe out flag defenders quickly.

If there are a bunch of engi's using javs on the other team Ill usually just give up the tanks, even if you have smoke its just one lock after another to deal with. I can do better on foot against those kinds of bums. :D

depends reallywhen pubbing, running it is amazing for taking out other land vehicles its only downside is air, but normally someone will hop in the laser painter and take out helis with me

I received an e-mail from EA this morning stating that my E-mail Address & Password was successfully changed.

Unfortunately, I never initiated the change. I'm at work for a few more hours before I can go home and sort this out.

Not looking forward to dealing with EA "support".

Edit: I went ahead and called. Didn't want to wait until later.

I have to give credit where it is due: Origin had awesome customer service. I was never on hold and it was an American, english speaker that answered. It took ~5 minutes to resolve and I got a coupon for my next purchase.

Yep, they got a major range buff a patch or two ago.

So what's the preferred method of engagement? They can run away from tanks pretty easily on big maps like Firestorm, but can take down any light or vehicles that give chase.
