no the booing is because they are classless. it's philly, they have and always will be that type of fans.

Philly fans have always been the scum of the earth. Just ask any fans of other NFC East times...

Sean Payton suspended for bounties? The Eagles hosted two Bounty Bowls against the Cowboys and likely shortened Aikman's career.

Over the years, I've read about some horrific behavior from sports fans in other cities that have equaled anything Philadelphia fans have been accused of. Those seem to get reported for 2 weeks then effectively wiped from the memories of the human race. If it happened in Philadelphia, it's remembered for the next 50 years. Why is that?

they once booed Santa Clause--I think it was an Eagles game. I remember watching them boo Destiny's Child during halftime of the Sixers/Lakers Championship series...what was that, 2000, 2001?

Not that I agree with the Santa thing but that was over 40 years ago and it's still being repeated. I wasn't even born yet and I'm now in my late 30's. I'm not excusing or condoning boorish behavior wherever it may happen but that's what I mean when I say that anything the Philadelphia fans do, it's remembered forever but similar shit that happens in other stadiums are forgotten after two weeks.

Totally agree. Still think booing injuries is wrong though.

As a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, it's now a weekly occurrence where players go down to an injury to miraculously pop back in after one play off. And to have it happen twice on one drive...can you blame the fans for booing? They're preconditioned into assuming the injuries are faked.

I'm not saying booing a real injury is right. It is a despicable thing. I cringe at the mention of Michael Irving being booed. That was a horrible moment and I absolutely hate Irving who was a shitty thug of a person when he was playing. He has since seemed to turn his life around after his playing days. And it's not like Philadelphia has been the only city to do so on a real injury. Houston is the most recent example and likely not the last.

Because outside of FirstEnergy stadium, it happens maybe once a season for any team other than Philly.

Eagles fans are just classless. Yes, I can blame them for booing even injuries they think are "fake". There are already rules in place where injuries cause stoppage under 2 minutes. Fans that boo when a player is hurt are stupid, plain and simple.

And yes, Houston has shown just how bad they can be as well.

I do agree (even as a Cowboys fan) that Irvin was a horrible person. He is the reason the Cowboys didn't draft Randy Moss as well. They were afraid he'd be another Irvin.

So the last quarterback to win for Kansas City is still Joe Montana. While it would royally screw me in fantasy, and the possible brownout to this forum could not be understated, I would just love next week to be able to add to that ", and Tim Tebow is the last one to win for Denver".

While I only hope (and not expect) for San Diego to win this Sunday, you have to think that they are a team that Manning fears. They were the only team to beat Denver at home this season less than a month ago (and actually it was the last game Denver played at home). They also beat Manning twice in the playoffs. It's going to be tough for the Chargers to win, but they really hate the Manning family.

As much as I hate the pass interference call as it is constituted now (and miscalled at least 70% of the time) I gotta say they have been doing a much better job with PI calls in the playoffs so far...but I think it's probably because everyone is uptight for playoff football. We didn't see the usual WR not catching the ball, so he throws his hands up in the air trying to bait the refs, and they bite and he gets the flag he wanted. Pass interference is a big problem when it comes to the quality of the game, but gotta give em' props when they call it correctly and not on every other play.

It has lead to some great games so far that aren't tainted by giant ticky tack bullshit PI calls.

Ok...basically every else gets a free pass because it "happens less" in other places. We'll just keep bringing up incidences that happened 40+ years ago as how bad and classless Philadelphia is. Now, I'll admit there are a lot of bad fans in Philadelphia, but to lump in the millions of fans who are nothing but nice because of a very small percentage is just wrong.

Again, I'm not excusing bad behavior, but at this point it's almost a self fulfilling prophesy that fans in Philadelphia behave badly. Any negative incidence gets blown up as national news for the rest of time. And in a way, it lets the idiots who causes these problems feel like they have to keep up their "reputation." Condemn the individuals involved, but don't condemn a whole fanbase for the actions of a few morons.

Not responding any more to this because you can do an internet search and find just as bad behavior in every single sports city as anything Philadelphia fans have been accused of. I'm also not responding to this particular topic anymore because it's the playoffs and I'm not trying to detract from playoff football.

akugami,

You sorta have a point that its a few bad apples that spoil the bunch. Just be happy Philly fans' reputation isn't to the level of Raider fans. :D

Different cities have other stereotypes, i.e. L.A. fans arrive at the arena late, hardly pay attention to the game, and leave early trying to beat traffic. I'd wager many of these stereotypes at least have some basis in fact. So in short, other places don't get a "free pass" either.

The sad part is that boorish behavior and hooliganism that maybe used to be respectively confined to Philly and Oakland have spread throughout other venues. In that respect, I'll say that you're right.

poor broncos, even though they are seeded #1, the 3 remaining teams in AFC are the exact teams to have defeated broncos in the regular season.

all match ups this weekend are good.

go peyton and broncos!
