It doesn't make sense to run your qb a lot in the regular season. If you can make it to the playoffs, then start to run him, as winning means everything. The fact that Kaep had the most running yardage yesterday is a major point in his favor, especially, when he took them to a 12-4 record without running too much.

IMO Cam is a good QB that will get better with time - he may become one of the greats one day. I am greatly pulling for the Panthers to win it all; but in reality, I expect the SB to have Denver beating Seattle...

I'd love to believe you, but I don't see it.

exactly

You don't want him getting hurt during the regular season. It just doesn't make sense for a qb to go head to toe with a 270 pound linebacker just to get a few yards. But if you are in the playoffs and getting another first down could mean a trip to the big game, RUN MOTHERFUCKER!

Why do people insist on boiling down NFL analysis to QB vs QB. It's so simplistic and dimwitted. There are 22 players on the field. Holy shit.

ummm...there are actual 106 players on the field. Plus another 30-40 coaches.

The QB is the heart of the team, the leader and the decision maker. If he fails, the team fails. No one can pick up his slack.

i was impressed that the packers kept the game as close as it was and they were 2 James Jones drops and a missed interception away from winning it. Seriously, those throws by Rodgers to Jones were incredible. They both bounced off his face mask and he could not bring them in. If i remember right those were both drives that ended up with punts and those throws would have put them in field goal position.

I obviously meant 22 players playing on the field. Don't be intentionally obtuse.

And yes, if you have a mediocre QB, your team can pick up the slack. Plenty of teams have won with a great defense in mediocre QBs. Eli Manning has won 2 superbowls for fucks sake.

And I stand by my opinion that superbowl wins are much more important than qb rating. Look at 2007. Hell Brady's rating was over 100 that year and his team went undefeated. Eli was around 60 and his team was what...10-6? But he made plays when they needed to be made and found a way to win when he needed to win. I mean unless you think they giver Superbowl MVP trophies to shitty players?

Plenty of Super Bowl champions are shitty players. Eli Manning being one of them. That given Sunday however the team was better than the other team. That's all.

I'd argue all 4 winning QBs this weekend played average at best. Luck threw 3 picks, Brees 2, Kaep 1, and Rivers only threw 16 passes.

yeah, nuts. I thought it was a typo when I saw that. The thing I like about SD this year is that they seem to go into each game with a very specific game plan for their opponent, and they stick to it. You see funny numbers like this throughout the year.

I'm not sure if that is what lead to their inconsistency, but they did lose some close ones....and were certainly embarrassed by teams they should have stomped.

I vehemently disagree with Chip Kelly as coach of the year. Chip Kelley got a lot of credit for the great play of Nick Foles, who Chip originally wanted to play backup to a Michael Vick who has been shitty for a long time. AND the Eagles play in the worst division in football while KC is in arguably the best divison. Andy Reid is easily coach of the year and the runner up is not even close, although Belichik, Arians, and even Ron Rivera also did really well. I have no big favorites in any of these teams/coaches, so I got no big bias, just a life long NFL fan.

Finally got some real NFL playoff football tonight! Loved the Packers/Niners game.

We'll just have to agree to disagree, but I don't see how you can say Chip Kelley did not do a better job than Andy Reid. Which would you rather have, a 2-14 team that had 6 pro bowlers and a bunch of very good role players or a 4-12 team with roster holes the size of Texas (thanks to Andy Reid).

Yes, Foles did a great job emerging as a very good player but Andy Reid had Foles as the starter for 6 (or was it 7) games last year and what was their record? Keep in mind this is pretty much the same roster that Andy Reid had and failed miserably with. To me, if the question was just between Kelley and Reid, I'd ask if Kelley coached this year's KC team, would he have a similar or better record than Reid? I'd say yes. If Reid coached the Eagles again this season would they have a similar or better record than what Kelley did? I say no. Either way, I say Belichick and Arians did a better job coaching this year.

You are optimistic. We may beat the 49ers, but then that would be it most likely.

Also, for everyone suggesting it will be Denver and Seattle in the SB. The last time both #1 seeds made the SB was 1993. Keep that in mind. Also, just two #1 seeds won the SB in the last 13 years.

no kidding

classless twats

I'm pretty sure Philly has the most horrible fans when it comes to sports. I think it was Boston coming in a close second when the fans used the family death of the Ravens player brother when they played last year or the year prior.

The booing wasn't because they're classless as much as they're fucking stupid.

Throughout the year when the Eagles' fast-pace no-huddle offense had a lot of sustained drives players would get "cramps" so they could give their defense a rest and a chance to make subs. This was especially evident in the season opener vs. the Washington football team.

Then it became every time a player got injured they "had to" be faking it.

I only went to a few games this year and never participated in it. When they boo player injuries, even if there is a chance they're faking, it makes me cringe.

Because we know there is zero, I repeat zero, fake injuries when playing a fast paced no huddle offense.

I'm of the opinion that if a player has to come out for injuries, he's gotta go out for a series or 2 minutes of game time, whichever expires first. Timeouts and natural breaks like the end of a quarter or 2 minute warning allows you to send your "injured" player back in of course.

Why do coaches have no balls? If I were the Eagles, with 2:00 left and the Saints have the ball at the 20. Why not give them the TD. Let them run it in, if they are not smart enough to tell their players to sit on ball at 1 yard line, then you give your offence a chance to win the ball game with some time left. Why sit there and watch them run down the clock?

You can't force them to score a touchdown. Coaches do tell players not to score. We saw it in the Super Bowl a few years ago when Ahmad Bradshaw tried to stop but fell into the end zone. I think there was another recent instance, maybe involving the Ravens?
