no the booing is because they are classless. it's philly, they have and always will be that type of fans.
Philly fans have always been the scum of the earth. Just ask any fans of other NFC East times...
Sean Payton suspended for bounties? The Eagles hosted two Bounty Bowls against the Cowboys and likely shortened Aikman's career.
Over the years, I've read about some horrific behavior from sports fans in other cities that have equaled anything Philadelphia fans have been accused of. Those seem to get reported for 2 weeks then effectively wiped from the memories of the human race. If it happened in Philadelphia, it's remembered for the next 50 years. Why is that?
they once booed Santa Clause--I think it was an Eagles game. I remember watching them boo Destiny's Child during halftime of the Sixers/Lakers Championship series...what was that, 2000, 2001?
Not that I agree with the Santa thing but that was over 40 years ago and it's still being repeated. I wasn't even born yet and I'm now in my late 30's. I'm not excusing or condoning boorish behavior wherever it may happen but that's what I mean when I say that anything the Philadelphia fans do, it's remembered forever but similar shit that happens in other stadiums are forgotten after two weeks.
Totally agree. Still think booing injuries is wrong though.
As a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, it's now a weekly occurrence where players go down to an injury to miraculously pop back in after one play off. And to have it happen twice on one drive...can you blame the fans for booing? They're preconditioned into assuming the injuries are faked.
I'm not saying booing a real injury is right. It is a despicable thing. I cringe at the mention of Michael Irving being booed. That was a horrible moment and I absolutely hate Irving who was a shitty thug of a person when he was playing. He has since seemed to turn his life around after his playing days. And it's not like Philadelphia has been the only city to do so on a real injury. Houston is the most recent example and likely not the last.
