People own guns for than just safety. We're in a circular argument here. We disagree. Thats fine.
Do you agree that owning an object for the purpose of safety is not rational if it makes you less safe? I assume you agree.

Acknowledging reality here gives us a lot of room to regulate guns because if people want them for hobby purposes there’s no need to store them in the home in most cases.

Well, maybe, anyway, sometimes. Possibly.
And of course, that ignores people who haven't been diagnosed.
And this is you sidestepping your extreme reaction ("crazy leftist shit") to a reasonable statement.
So how do you catch that?

I thoroughly disagree.

Red flag laws no. Fixing background checks, yes. Ive stated that MANY times on this forum.

Well, without red flag laws the loophole you mentioned earlier won't ever get fixed. So it seems like you're taking an impossible position.

In the same way that owning a car or flying makes the average person less safe.
Great. So now we have established that would you agree that owning something that makes you less safe for the purpose of safety is irrational?

In other words statistically. ;)

(although flying is "statistically" safer than sitting on your sofa or lying in bed at night based purely on "risk of death" numbers lol)

Nope. Every gun owner Ive ever known owns guns for more than personal safety.

About what I expected.
The problem with red flag laws has to do with "after the fact" purposes. Theyre also known as risk based gun removal laws. The problem lies is enforcement. Impossible to do. Red flag laws rarely have to do with pre-gun purchases. Its feel good legislation that would have no effect. I suggest you read up on it.

And banning guns wont fix that. Ive stated before Im all for background checks so if theres a flaw in that, banning guns wont fix it.

I think the background checks need to be redone every so often, not just with a new purchase.

Keep gun ownership in the hands of the responsible, but take it away from the mentally unstable till they can be responsible again.

As an aside, being correct about a subject and "MAKING YOURSELF RIGHT" are two very different things.... the second serves NO useful purpose unless all you want to do is play "point/counter-point" while trying to make yourself look "intellectual".

Uh, they don't have anything to do with pre-purchase because we just established why. Kinda the point of this line of questioning. Which you seem to be in favor of except when you're not.

Apparently we do not lead in fatalities though?

dont buy into the red herring. Automobiles are not guns, and it’s simply a diversion. Guess what, people like blankangst don’t care about deaths in either case, as long as his feels are caressed.

I just found that particular point interesting.... and all the effort I put out was highlighting text and right-clicking "search Google" so why not?

Having said that, comparing deaths from transportation accidents to deaths from gun-shot wounds would be silly. (and pointless)
