Tell that to the people who live in Alton, IL.

Where there is a workforce willing to work, there will be a producer, in an open market these things have a way to fix themselves.

If CAT wants to be a low value brand known for price rather than quality, go do that, in fact, why not just move their shit products to china, it couldn't get much worse as it is.

In Germany you don't need a car, there is a bus that will take you where you need to get arriving in 5 minutes if you are in any major city and if you have to travel between cities, you have a train at the station every fifteen minutes for shorter commutes and inter commoutes are about one hour apart, international commutes are running four times a day.

If you choose to drive, which would be more expensive, then you are just daft, which is very American.

You can get your commute from Berlin to Helsinki fast than you can drive and at half the price of driving with your tank filled with US Petrol prices of petrol.

But never mind, it's a shithole.

And good public transportation has nothing to do with the fact that the country is about the size of a US state now would it?

This. This. This.

On a federal level, protectionism is hardcore important. On a state level you can dick around and give tax incentives so companies pick your state, but on a federal level protectionism is all you can really do. Without protectionism, you could drop the tax rate to 0% and it would still be cheaper to operate in China.
State protectionism should be hardcore important too. Companies outside the state and sell their products in the state should expect to have a tax levied against their products. Would prevent welfare states from giving away the house to the corporations and then making up the loss of revenues in federal aid.

It is also one of best places to live. I can't wait to graduate and move to Chicago.

Would you call 9.5% taxes oppressive? Really?

since they are going to do nothing for me with the extra? yeah.

we already have high fees, way higher than any of the surrounding states(WI, IND, MO) dont know about kentucky or IOWA but there isnt much in either.....

its not all about taxes, its about fees and cost of doing business with the state, and that already costs ALOT in IL.

but have fun in chicago, when your rent on a 700sf studio is more than my mortgage + property taxes

I guess if you cant wait to move to that shithole, your views are already compromised. I moved my wife out of the chicago burbs and she thought it was the end of the world, for about 6 months....now she loves it outside of the city and south of I-80

Staets pay income tax to the home state of record.

They usually also pay taxes based on manufacturing locations

Unfortunately your idea is totally unconstitutional. Article I, Section 10.

That wouldn't effectively pressure companies to relocate the Honda Civic manufacturing plant. All it would do is act like a sales tax. Then the state would blow all of that sales tax money on a bunch of stupid bullshit like public schools.

Euorpe still has a significantly higher population density, you daft bitch :awe:

http://geography.about.com/od/populationgeography/a/popdensity.htm

Quite a bit, it seems, but they don't know what Europe is? This is EU nations?

Anyway, high speed railway is cheaper, faster, better, and once built... there it IS!

US economy is like a fortune teller using soap bubbles instead of a crystal ball, everyone want to sell her cheap soap but in the long run, both her and everyone who used her services would be better off if the fast solution was disregarded and the lasting crystal ball was bought originally.

So no one want to invest in any long term project in the US, it'd pay off over time, especially since gas prices will eventually start to hurt A LOT, but if you can't see beyond the inch, you'll never be able to walk a mile.

what do you mean?

state as in california, florida etc or states as in Lybia, Egypt?

American states first and foremost, in the long run we can't be dependant on a fuel source that will only become more exensive and will lock us in even more, that will force evolution of engineering for a society without the need for it.

I like the Honda hydrogen cell car. Which is no secret.

I agree completely. Too bad a majority of the country thinks science is subjective and the rapture is coming anyways so why bother...

Really how is those high speed rails coming along in Russia? You are just spewing bs. Public transportation doesn't work unless the population density is high - ala New York. It's only cheaper if you have really good pop density.

Anyway Zargon already handled your wonderful quote. It's pretty damn funny that you have the audacity to call somebody a daft bitch when you are talking out of your ass and coming off like a complete tool.

What do you mean "coming along in Russia"? They are all over Eastern Europe and most of Russia too.

Well if you don't mean the third generation, that is not used much anywhere yet.

You do realise that that last part of your post now applies to you?

Yes son, that is the way the internet works, don't cry.

I know it sounds awful but ... you know, just for a little bit, i wish the rapture did come... for those who believe in it...

Then we could move on and holy hell... smart people would be in charge everywhere!
