Thanks for making the point. But we're talking state to state here. My guess is CAT will move to Wisconsin or other business friendly state. When a state forces business to move elsewhere via democrats to another state, that's what you call freedom. When a business is forced to move overseas that's called Obama.

The liberal experiment is OVER.

FBHO.

Why did so many jobs leave business-friendly Wisconsin for China?

I'm not a fan on special packages to attract individual companies. It usually works out to be a bad deal for the taxpayers. That being said I'm all for having the state be low tax and business friendly as long as the policies are across the board.

Yes. And that is how free market works. Its beautiful.

Government giving massive tax breaks to large corporations is anything but free market. It create a huge barrier of entry to any potential competitor, for one. It manipulates the cost of producing goods by one supplier.

What happens when another state under cuts Tennessee before they even reach a break even point, and jobs start leaving the area?

It happens.. plus Tennessee was massively screwed by GM. But it cost VW a couple of billion to build their new plant in Chattanooga... I doubt they will leave soon. Plus the previous governor specified that all VW suppliers must be based in Tennessee.

I would like to see the numbers on these deals. The state keeps this information under lock and key to prevent other states from undercutting them. At the moment there is no way to really know if it was a good deal for Tennessee. On one hand though... they gave up tax revenue from VW but have 5-7000 more people employed now.

The state also paid $97 million to Electrolux. If this was not paid they would not have built a new plant in Memphis and closed another one in the state immediately costing 2,900 jobs. Overall we are looking at 4,200 jobs. So it comes out to about $23,000 per job. Probably about 7-10 years to break even on this deal.

We have a strong workforce waiting for a place to punch in.

Truthful translation: We have a bunch of unemployed people waiting for Snyder's big business breaks to trickle down and translate to jobs. The 'job creators' are and have been silent in MI for years now.

Well seeing as how it hasn't been in place in 20 years.....

Trickle down did exactly wat it was supposed to do. Between 1980 and 1988 total tax revenue nearly doubled going from from 500 Billion to over 900 Billion. No 8 year period has seen that since the great depression.

Things we got rid of in the 80's:
The pain index
Gas shortages
Double Digit Inflation

You are just pissed because Reagan toppled your Soviet Union.

When will democrats fail to realize their polices force business to go elsewhere? If you have a big bully stealing your lunch money, and he keeps demanding more what do you do? Since said bully is protected by law you simply have to find another place to keep him from taking your money.

Now que the communists who think CAT is lucky to exist thanks to the workers. CAT can just say - FU, we're moving. There is a reason why we are the United States. When fucked up states do stupid shit we can go to anther state and the "fucked up state" can suffer the consequences of making "stupid shit" decisions. May the greatness of fuck be upon the former IL Senator.

Look at the failing states, correlate with their leadership. One thing is common - fucking democrats.

Top 3 states with FY 2012 projected budget deficits the largest percentage of their overall budget...

New Jersey 37.2% Christie - R
Texas 31.5% Perry - R

Heh. You are definitely an avid consumer of deceptive statistics. The truth is far different than you allege, even from conservative sources-

http://www.theneweditor.com/index.p...d-Spending-in-Inflation-Adjusted-Dollars.html

Obviously, deficit spending had nothing to do with stimulating the economy to create greater tax revenue, and the Bush tax cuts weren't a rehash of trickledown Reaganomics, at all...

You mihgt have a half-assed valid point if tax rates had returned to pre-Reagan levels at any time in the last 30 years, but they haven't even come close.

If Clinton wouldn't have granted China favored trade status near the end of his presidency none of those jobs would have left.

Dems have really screwed up Illinois with their tax and spend fiscal policies....and just don't get it why their State is so messed up. Their solution is always to tax more instead of spend less. Morons.
