It took me some time to figure out how to actually use the golden keys.

In case people don't know, you have to go to the "Shift" booth in Concordia. Once you activate the booth, all of your keys are basically banked there. You can remove a key (or more) which then puts it in your character's inventory. Then you can visit the golden chest.

The whole Shift thing seems a bit wonky. I have to make sure I visit the Shift menu before I start my game or I always get a "not logged into Shift" error.

Yea, I agree. The shift codes were much easier to use in BL2. I can never figure out whether I am logged in to the Shift account or not. Usually I have to go out of the game and log in. Kind of a pain in the butt if you are playing off-line, which I usually am.

BTW, does anyone else hate the driving sequences as much as I do? I must have died 20 times trying to use that stupid scorpion to jump the chasm to get to Pickle's hideout. Really frustrating. It is actually pretty easy if you get on just the right spot, but you cant progress on the main quest until you figure it out. It is almost like instead of adding content they just made the game longer by making you do jumps over and over.

Yeah, the jumps can be more than a little annoying.

I do believe that the vehicles get better though. I don't want to spoil anything so I'll leave it at that.

I am really liking some of the humor in this game. I just did a side quest for a quite drunk "Australian" guy, and I think he used every obscure Australian word during the quest dialogue sequences. I was laughing out loud through most of it, and I don't think I knew what at least 50% of the words even meant (which was probably the point).

I'm up to level 15 with my Wilhelm and I still don't have a great feel for how to level him.

So the unofficial fix to the blocked first boss fight, is to enter the entryway room while in sprint mode.

The bug was entering the room with the gate, and the gate wouldn't open. If you sprint in versus walking in, it opens.

I haven't encountered this yet. Is this the Deadlift dude? Or that fire guy during the prologue?

I've played one character midway into TVHM and another 2/3 through normal with no game breaking issues. :\

Just completed the story on normal and ready for hard mode. Didnt experience any bugs yet. Also play a lot of multiplayer. Only a single time did we have to recreate the game because of crashes when joining.

Its remarkable solid game. But again it is also build on existing.

I got the first boss glitch, I just left the area and did some other stuff, came back and it opened up. Not sure if I was sprinting or not...

I also got a glitch where I was supposed to take something from Springs, and she walked into the fast travel machine and got stuck there. So any time I tried to press E on the object to grab it, it would open up the fast travel instead. I had to quit out of the game and restart it to fix that one.

I wish we could choose the gendre for our characters...the cowboy and gladiator class interest me but I can't get to play female characters...

That sucks. Some of the best classes in the Borderlands series are the female characters. Plus, the gender is all part of their character. Just get over it, I guess? :D

I've got Nisha in TVHM and Athena slowly working on Normal mode. Both solid. I've teamed with a claptrap, and he's pretty fun to have in co-op. His Action skill is both trollish and fun for the whole team.

You make good points, I might get over it and go for the Gladiator then :p

I'm playing a Wilhelm on my first go around and I sort of wish I had picked a more interesting character. I'm only level 15 right now so maybe things will pick up.

I like how Moxi(e) talks to Nishna and vice versa. The interaction between them is great.

Somehow, this game just annoys me at times. And I was a great fan of the other two games. I dont know if it just lacks polish, or if they intend it to be that way. Like the stupid jumps in the vehicles, quest markers that seem "off" somehow, and like I am level 10 or 12 and still have only 2 weapon slots. Why add new types of guns and wait so long for the opportunity to equip them. And they even made the golden keys more complicated to use. And it is just strange playing as characters that you already killed.

Yeah, the third weapon slot comes way too late in the game, and then the fourth arrives immediately after, I think. Considering that the main campaign is roughly the same length as BL1, if not shorter, that seems like poor design.

I don't feel that that jumps are bad, though--there's only three (first two are back to back) in the entire game that you absolutely have to do, once, just to get to the next story progression, and they really aren't bad once you figure out that the angle you keep taking is the wrong one. Granted, it's not intuitive--that first cliff leads you to thinking you need to jump straight forward, but you actually need to veer slightly to the right.

Anyway, I feel like that one is the worst, but not a problem once you realize that.

I like the classes though. Seems there are 2 top tier classes right now, which is more than one could say for BL1 :\

I dont know, guess I just dont have enough patience anymore. Seems like the whole point of the game is to get you lost. I restarted playing today, started a sidequest and couldnt find where to go, then went back to the main quest and got beeping lost again. I am trying to find that bridge to Drakensburg or wherever it is. Maybe I am just not in the mood for the game, frustrating day at work pretty much wore out my patience!!

What I love about Borderlands is the superb writing, characters, artistic direction, and fun FPS mechanics.

What I hate is all the crap gathering and constant gear churn.

I'm just not into all that....I beat BL2 at level 32 or something - I didn't care. My co-op friend was obsessed with leveling and keys this and legendary that....honestly didn't even enjoy playing with him that much because all he cared about was upgrading crap and getting codes for more crap and grinding out yet more crap.

Drakensburg wasn't that bad, there are worse maps than that. Maybe's its the addition of more vertical maps to take advantage of the low gravity that is giving you trouble?

I do not care for the more expansive and empty maps though, seems that has become the norm ever since the captian scarlett dlc from BL2. Probably a cheap way to claim 40+ hours of gameplay, since alot of the main missions in the new game have you trudging all over the place. The map before the drakensburg is the worst, Outlands something, where you have to freeze the lava lake.

Despite that, I am enjoying the game myself. After all the bad DLC's from BL2, and it being made by 2K australia, my expectations were pretty low, but so far I think they have done a super job on the game. It seems like the classes are much more better designed than in BL2. Loot is easier to find, no more stupid slag, moonstones have multiple uses (unlike eridium), the grinder is a fair way to turn out gear, and the low gravity is a lot fun.

Yes, you are right, it is the vertical jumping puzzles that drive me absolutely nuts, and the "go find this" and when you get there there is some twist that just triggers aother "go find that" quest. They have basically turned the game into a jumping platformer. Right now I am ready to throw the mouse through the monitor. I am trying to do that freeze the lava quest, and I spent an hour trying to turn on the pumping station and when I finally get there, there is no methane and I have to find another valve or something. I finally just quit in frustration.

So far I have finished both borderlands games with every character through UVHM (Edit: meant TVHM, only took one through UVHM), but i really may be one and done when I finally finish this game. It just isnt fun to me. Even the shooting is frustrating because I only have two weapons slots and a buttload of good weapons, and the enemies seem really repetitive as well.

Sorry, dont mean to rip the game, and I am happy for those that are enjoying it, but it is an order of magnitude less enjoyable to me than either of the other two borderlands games. Those games could be frustrating in spots, but not just one aggravation after another like this game. Even my character mutters stuff about hating to get lost, like the devs are gloating that they managed to make you waste another hour wandering around aimlessly.

I haven't had that much of a problem finding the objectives, but I agree that the methane quest line was shit. WTF I have to run across the entire friggin map to turn a valve? Then run back to turn another valve? Only to run back to the other place again to do something else? Jeebus.

And you are right, the 3rd gun slot should have come earlier in. Just got it
at the end of the drakensburg questline
and it was extremely frustrating to be limited to 2 guns up to that point.

lol, I just finished that quest last night. I wanted to go to bed but wanted to get to the next save point first. It took a long, long time to get through all of that stuff.

are you playing a shitty character? maybe switch to Nina or Athena to make it more fun. I dunno, every BL game is like this--spend time trying to find the objective, get there, then they send you across the map to something else. Though I do feel that the Drakensburg line in this one is the worst of all of them for that--rescuing Roland in BL2 was almost as bad.

Thing is, do it again, and those quests are really quite short. The game overall is very short just blasting through the storyline, and there don't seem to be as many side quests as before.

Dont' worry though, first time through the next quest line--robot army--and you might wish you were still in Drakensburg :D After that, however, you get Miss Moxie's Railgun and your kill/time quotient will skyrocket.

Eh, I am playing as Nina now. I am going to try to finish the game with her. Any suggestions who I should try next?

I said Nina...I think it's Nisha :\. Well, like most classes it takes several levels to get them fun and rolling. and she really gets into high gear when you are able to unlock One for Each of Ya--though, many claim it isn't her best for end game; still it's incredibly fun and very viable.

You're still kind low level so you probably aren't feeling much from the skill tree. unfortunately, you don't really get to unlock anyone's capstone until 25-26 at the absolute earliest, which is just before the end of the campaign. So unless you keep playing into TVHM, it's hard to get a feel for them.

That being said, leveling with Athena seems more satisfying. Just put one point into Maelstrom and then whatever you want. It really makes her feel quite different. I'm building her as a game-breaking melee type with that horribly broken Shooting Star shield, but I'm not there yet. Melee builds can be tough and obnoxious early on, but with her, a single point into Maelstrom allows you to control damage and mobs without too much pain from a low-level mele toon. Of course, it seems that going all out into her maelstrom tree is fun, too.
