Does this one have enemies that turn invisible like BL2 did? It sounds stupid but those stupid lizards ruined BL2 for me. Along with elite guys with shields. Killing those guys was just not fun for me.

There is one part of a single map in the game that does have stalkers--and yes, my personal rage meter filled quickly when I encountered them. 😀 (well, it is a somewhat large map...)

They aren't so bad, though, because they aren't as ubiquitous as they are in BL2. Also, this one has no end of widely-available shock weapons, and especially the shock laser rifles.

This Borderlands also has the first truly useful Moxxi weapon (meaning, non-gimmicky "semi-legit" health-gating tool for ultra end-game purposes) in her Miss Moxxis Zapper...or whatever it is. That thing tears ass through any and all stalkers that appear in your general field of view.

And all Borderlands have had shielded jerks...and they get beefier and more frequent the higher difficulty levels. The health of shielded enemies seems to be much less than previous, however...but there seems to be a higher frequency of tough shields. Again, shock weapons, which were always a general necessity before.

There is probably going to be a tuning pass somewhat soon, because some of the weapons are stupidly overpowered and honestly trivialize a lot of the content. Game is still tough in parts, of course, and that type of gamebreaking really only depends on fixing a few items, but those issues always seem to be addressed at some point.

I meant the guys carrying physical shields, I think you're talking about guys with blue energy shields. The badass level guys with physical shields were super annoying to kill in BL2 as Zero. Or maybe there was a trick I just wasn't aware of. I found that the shield carrying guys in Destiny were OK because they didn't have much health, and there was the stagger mechanic where even if you're playing solo there's a way to take them out from straight on. BL2 seemed like you really needed a second guy to flank to effectively take out the shield carrying guys. And the badass guys were bullet sponges with high health, so it was just a horrifically aggravating grind taking them down for me.

Some new stuff they added in this one, is that weapons can have "status effects" on them. So some weapons can stun the target, so it leaves shield carrying guys open to head shots.

I have seen people calling it a very polished mod on other websites so I don't think its worth the money at the moment. I am guessing it will go on sale in a month for Black Friday anyway 🙂.

oh yeah, those guys.

grenades. there are a few of those here, too. not nearly as many, though--at least, they aren't a full class like in BL2--the shield Nomads

As a siren you could phase lock them. That would usually allow you to hit them somewhere. Otherwise, just try to shoot them in the leg or foot. Rocket launchers were effective. They were tough, but like someone said, I think the stalkers wrer more annoying.

Yeah I dunno, maybe it's an irrational idiosyncrasy on my part, but for some reason it was particularly rage-inducing and irritating having to sit there for 10 minutes slowly whittling them down by shooting their feet while knowing it'd be a million times easier if I were a different class (Axton to flank with turret or siren to phaselock) or if I had a friend to flank. Especially if I didn't have grenades left or didn't have a good rocket launcher, or ran out of launcher ammo or some other soul crippling bullshit.

no Bore Zer0?

I know it's difficult at low levels, but a stealthy and stabby Zer0 eventually had no problems with the big shield guys. But, yes, I recall those dudes being a pain trying to build him as melee early on.

It was definitely rough starting out as Siren, then trying to play any other class and deal with shielded or cover-happy mobs.

At least in the Pre Sequel, the only guys with shields are merely a few robot-type things, so you can pretty much take care of them with corrosive and aiming in their general direction

I thought the trick to killing those guys was to hit them with a corrosive or fire elemental weapon first. It seemed like that got them upset at which point they would move their shield opening up a head shot. I don't remember having too much trouble with them.

The stalkers stopped bothering me one I realized they are vulnerable to up close shotgun combat. Shotguns with explosive ammo seem to be particularly effective against them. Or hitting them with an elemental weapon made them visible long enough for a kill shot.

Shock Twister owned those bastards....I'm gonna be thinking of all the goodies I have in my BL2 vault once I finally start playing this..

Gotta say, having hundreds of hours in BL1 and BL2, I'm not really enjoying this one. The gravity is stupid, the moon buggy mechanics are terrible and I spend most my time running from one place to another.

Yea, I complained a lot about the game earlier in this thread. Still feel basically the same way, but I think the game does get less annoying further in. I guess I was hoping they didnt use the low gravity to turn it into a platformer, which they basically did. I dont like any of the low grav mechanics actually. Jump pads, butt slamming, having to find air vents, double jumping all the time, none of this is really my thing. And the pathfinding absolutely drives me nuts.

Once inside in normal grav, I like the game much better. It also just feels weird playing as or interacting with characters I have already killed in BL2, especially Jack, since he was a total jerk in BL2, really weird to be an ally of sorts.

I got BL one on sale for like ten bucks and got more than my money's worth, and dont regret paying full price for BL2, but I wish I had waited for a sale for this game.

I am enjoying it more, for what it's worth. The gravity mechanics haven't really bothered me all that much, as oxygen has never been a problem, and I never find myself seeking vents for any reason--so many containers when you kill stuff that I just don't notice it.

Still, there is something that this one just doesn't have, and I'm not quite sure what "it" is. Probably the lack of Pandora, and that is a big part of it, so in a way the gravity mechanics do play into that (very different environment and feel.) The only real and serious complaint I have is the number of one-time only bosses that drop specific legendaries. This is just...bad. I think they want you to use the grinder, which is really just obnoxious--you can't gridn shields or Oz kits, so you are SoL for certain very good items.

I also suppose that what is "off" for me is that I always buy BL games at least a year later, when all of the DLC is available, most of the level caps are out, and it's ~$30 for all of that. Honestly, I don't mind paying full price for this one, as I always felt I was stealing from Gearbox, getting such good deals on the amount of content in the previous 2. So, I've never gone into a BL game capped at 50, with only 2 playthroughs and no DLC to keep leveling a toon, and such a limited pool of tough end game content and loot.

I'm certainly waiting for sales before getting the Season Pass, though.

Nisha is badass, though.

I agree, something just seems off. I was still playing BL2 a couple weeks ago, and I was enjoying that much more than this. I've only ever played BL in coop, for what it's worth. And I'm a claptrap, so oxygen is a non-issue.

well, for those that haven't yet found this one and completed it, you need to do the "Those are the Droids" side mission in....Vorego Solitude or something something....that 3rd to the last map (Just after you beat the big flying Bunker-like boss)

That is probably my favorite BL mission to date. They payoff is sooooo worth it. You also get an amazing weapon if you like mele range.

Anyone find this game incredibly easy compared to part 1 and 2? I just completed my first run through with Wilhelm and maybe died twice. Both were because I fell into lava trying to jump across it.

Also, is it me or did the writers for this game overuse the term 'awesome' in this one? awesome this, awesome that. god damn, every other sentence..The humor in this one was okay. I lost it at the basketball mission. Out of all the BL games, my favorite dialogs were in BL2. Especially the goliath in BL2. GIVE ME YOUR GOD DAMN LOOT!

Concerning the writing, just letting in some info (in case you, or anyone else didn't know), Anthony Burch wrote (mostly? not sure if he was alone, or had a team of writers with him, but in any case he was 'lead' writer) for Borderlands 2. He also wrote Pre-Sequel, so it's the 'same guy' (again, not sure if he was alone or not for Pre-Sequel). Additionally, fun fact, Borderlands 2's Tiny Tina (the character) is voiced by Anthony Burch's sister, Ashly Burch (who herself is also a writer).

My cousin bought Pre-Sequel, told me a few things about it. I for one watched a good number of 'let's play' videos of it on YouTube (most I'd presume only with minor spoilers coming from the first 20 or so minutes of the game), but I haven't actually played it yet (will probably buy it when it ends up on sale). From what I've heard, however (of the script's quality, the dialogue and the humor thrown in) it seems to be "okay", I guess is a way to put it for now (but I should wait until I play it to judge its the writing quality).

What I can say, however, about Borderlands 2's writing is that, without a doubt (for me, anyway) it was some of the best I've seen in recent years. I've only enjoyed similar-quality writing mostly from BioWare games (that's generally-speaking, I'm including all their games). I especially liked Handsome Jack's, Tiny Tina's (especially in Assault on Dragon's Keep, but then again all the writing in that DLC was awesome) and Lilith's writing. I have to conclude by saying, however, that you can have the best writing you can wish for, but if the voice actors don't deliver their lines properly... well it screws up the script's quality (well, its delivery anyway, which screws up the sc-... well you got the gist of the idea).

So, perhaps, in Pre-Sequel the writing's quality is good, but maybe the voice actors aren't on par with their previous performance(s) in BL2? At least the ones that do return (not sure about the new ones though). In BL2 both the writing and the voice actors were just top-notch from start to finish (I'm not exaggerating, it was top-quality writing, in my opinion).

I'm just not feeling this game, bought both the previous titles on release and was relativle happy with them, this really does seem like a carbon copy of 2 with a few tacky gimmicks super glued on. Maybe I will pick it up on sale or I might just wait for 3.

Really hoping they think outside the box though, I know it seems safer to stick with a tried and tested formula and I don't blame them for that but considering the amount of time I already put into BL2 +add ons I feel like it it already way past time they shook things up a little.

Wow, I have been playing for hours trying to find my way out to escape the space station before blowing it up. After getting through the first part, I acutally was enjoying the game for a while. But now I am very frustrated again. Nothing but pathfinding and jumping, and you dont even have a decent respawn point. You spawn way back and have to mindlessly kill the same enemies over and over and over, and do the same jumps over, and over, and over, and curse the game over, and over, and over. Well I think you get the idea. I dont mind having trouble killing enemies. At least you can do some sidequests and level up enough to go back and kill them, but this pathfinding, platforming crap is just no fun at all.

I've played about 8 hours into the game and can't get into it. I've used the hack to get the slot machine to spit out legendary items and have given myself 130 skill points. I really did like 1 and 2, but I think I am done playing this one. It's a decent game, but not a full price type game IMO.

There's apparently some complaining that the Season Pass DLC *may* be limited to 2 new characters, a level increase, and 1 campaign.

Caveat: in my limited 15 minute attempt to fact-check this, I haven't found any official statement from Gearbox confirming that this is the case. Some people think that each individual piece is one of the four DLC's, others think that this is just a "minimum" and Gearbox may add more stuff on top of what's been announced.
