Does anyone know how the Circuit City Black Friday works?

What do you mean?

It's the same as any other BF store. Get in line EARLY if you want a door buster special.

Yeah that's what I meant. So they give you a ticket or whatever like Best Buy?

Sorry if this was already posted somewhere but...

Here are some CC coupons that appear to overlap with BF (expire 11/30/06):

10% off TVs (including sales items) $100 and up.
10% off Tivo, home audio, phones, DVD recorders, home theater installation
$40 off $199 total purchase.

The first one is for 10% off anything and explicitely includes sales items. Although the coupons say copies are not allowed several poeple in another thread have used them recently without problem.

cc coupons

EDIT: All coupons say "Not combinable with select Circuit City offers." Does that contradict the "includes sales items" in the other part of the coupon?

is the 400gb western digital mybook external hard drive at staples the biggest hard drive being offered anywhere this black friday.

Damn, didn't see this and I just bought a Samsung 225BW at $400 after tax.
Maybe I'll have to get a second 22" LCD.

Yes most stores give tickets or vouchers to the first people in line before the store opens.

So if you REALLY want a door buster, you'd better get there early.

The 22" WS caught my eye as well, but realize it's a 22" tv-monitor not a regular PC display. That can be a good thing in some ways, esp wrt connectivity but look at some of the specs (the 700:1 contrast has me concerned, compare that to 1200:1 for the 32" deal). Not that contrast in itself is all too meaningful, but in general a PC monitor will be of better use for fast action (sports) and gaming as well as easier PC integration. I was considering the Samsung 22" at CC with the $40 off but realize it's $150 rebates (still, for $40 more it seems a much better solution).

EDIT: Or, I think today is the last day for the Acer 22' at $249 with no rebates at CC ($239 at Costco).

What makes it a tv-monitor?

The 22" WS is a PC monitor, not a TV. It's a pretty slick deal for $199.
Also worth mentioning is the Samsung 19" widescreen LCD for $129 @ both BB and Staples, but Staples will require a rebate.

It is LCM rather than LVM like I thought I'd read. Still, seems to spec more like a tv/monitor at 700:1 contrast but is clearly designed for PC use:
http://www.westinghousedigital.com/details.aspx?itemnum=60

Doesn't rate too bad as seen here:
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,2032425,00.asp

http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/fo...5&sid=a652b90d139b58bb2b6471e1dca7b15d

Has black level issues (see contrast) but is otherwise decent. I may need to rethink my advice to my friend.

700:1 and 800:1 are the average contrast ratios of 22" monitors. They are all TN panels, so that is about right. In fact, most monitors aren't even any higher than 700:1/800:1, unless you go for a much more expensive unit.

Does Dell.com have any BF deals? Did they have any last year?

May be wrong, but do not remember any for BF only, but they have changed their promo policies so much who knows for sure. With Dell I prefer the Delph game around Christmas.

wow this is the first year where nothing is really screaming buy me buy. I am mostly looking at larger size hard drive preferably less than 25 cents per gig. Best buys deal on the 250gb seagate seems like the best offer so far. Still waiting to see if we can find a 500gb external for less than $140. Anybody know when the microcenter ad might get leaked?

Wow, at least I'm not the only one! With the small possibility of getting a ~37" LCD nothing really appeals to me this year...and this is after reading through the BB and CC ads!

You think we could use a $20 off $100 coupon at Staples towards that $129 Samsung 19" widescreen LCD? That would be even better.

I'm just waiting for the Frys ad. I'm looking to build a new system and that's the only thing holding me back right now.

yeah these are some of thew worst Black Firday deal ever, there not bad, but not great either, but definately not worht camping out all night to save a few dollars here and there.

In the past there were $99.00 desktop computers, and good $299 or 399 laptops, and hard drives for like $20.00. and remeber the 6800 that was like $150.00 when they were $300.00 almost everywhere.

kinda dissapointed in these deals.

the only real good deals i have seen are the big screen HDTV;'s for like $500.00 to $1000.00 off, but i don't want a huge screen TV so not interested, and the $400.00 projector at Best Buy looks good as it 1024 x 768 res.

well compusa's add got posted on bfads and well i'm a little dissapointed. can't find any really good deals and almost every items they are offering has either a minimum of two mail in rebates or a sign up for a cell phone mail in rebate. Well only fry's and microcenter left to concern with.

For all the BF veterans, how early is early?

When does one need to show up in order to have a good shot at the better deals?
