this is a benchmark of an FX-51 being overclocked v.s. the P4EE being overclocked, FX-51 bests the p4EE at every turn. Now I'm not ratting on your proccessor, I mean it is a great chip, but, given a choice the AMD is really a better performer at this point. The P4EE is a good chip, can't doubt that, but I would never pay $1000 for it, and like it has been said before, to each his own. Now the reason everyone bags on you and gets on to you all the time is the fact that you are constantly recommending the Intel chips to people, who would CLEARLY benefit more from an A64 than a P4.

I posted benchmarks proving that a Sempron 3100+ outperformed a Cel D 2.8 [both available at $100]. You never acknowledged anything about those benchmarks, even as I provided a link to them and they are on this site.

I posted live benchmarks for all to see (screenshots).

Hey, guess what? If a system has 4 CPUs, the choice is pretty clear which architecture you use - Opteron.
If you use a dual-cpu system, hey, guess what, the Xeon and Opteron are pretty well-matched!
Now, Felix, let's use some logic, alright?
If two things, all being said, are equal, and you say bad things about one, logically, they also apply to the other.
Using this example, if Opterons are "bad" and are equal to a Xeon, then logically, you are stating that Xeons are "bad" as well. However, some part of me thinks that you're going to say "No, Xeons are better." Okay, then, keep posting baseless facts without proof, even though I have proven that they are equal.

I was going to compare pricing on the Opteron 250 and Nocona Xeon 3.6, but Newegg has neither one, odd.

I have an FX-53 939 Pin. I am not overly impressed with it.

I am switching to a Intel 550- 3.4 and will OC it.

The gaming performance is good with the FX series, but for the $$$, I want to be awed and I just wasn't

I am an AMD supported and have alot of AMD stock, but unless you are only gaming, the Intel chip is where I am going. I know Intel doesn't have all of the worlds answers either, but all around I think they may work better.


The Extreme P4's are probably not the best answer either. They are over-over-over priced Xeons. If you really need the BEST of the Best. Wait till SLI comes out on a Dual Xeon 3.6-4.0 and OC the crap out of it.

I have an BFG 6000 GT OC 256mb Ram. I have an Asus A8V with 1 gig HyperX PC 4000. I can't OC cause of the board.
My Futuremark 05 scores were poor. It should have screamed.

Tell you what. I will do a bench of whatever one you want me to try on my FX-53.

smoothmove. I was referring to benchmarks in the tomshardware.com and anandtech.com reviewing FX-53 compared to P4EE, where both were OC'ed, and also at stock. In every gaming benchmark, the FX-53 won. and I assume the 6000 GT is a 6800GT. And what game did you play/bench ? The 6800GT is not as good in Far Cry, but wins many others. And this is not a flame, I really don;t understand what you think is too slow. I got 3830 with my rig on 3dmock 05, so how bad were yours ? I think you may have a setup issue if your numbers are below 5k.

Well the FX-93 is made of wood so that probably explains your experience. There is a thread about it. Do a search for "revelation" in this catagory.

Sell your FX and go EE. Hyperthreading is the king baby!
