Reporting a neighbor to DCFS because you don't like them is beyond fucked up. I don't care how much a person hates their neighbors, that is a line you don't cross. You think it would be appropriate for me to beat up a guy's kids because of a disagreement between him and I? Doing anything that threatens a person's family over a silly little squabble is just messed up.

Under Illinois law any person who knowingly makes a false report to DCFS commits the offense of disorderly conduct, a Class B misdemeanor. Punishment can includes up to 6 months of jail and a fine of up to $500.

I'd push DCFS to pursue legal action against your neighbors. You should talk to a lawyer as well in case the neighbors try to pull more shit like this. DCFS has a lot of authority when it comes to abuse claims, and it's not like they can ignore them, even if it appears to be fraudulent. I'd do whatever needs to be done to protect your family, because it sounds like your neighbors are some real nutjobs and have absolutely no regard for your children.

I mean doesn't this scare the crap out of you? Do you think they would ever physically harm your children?

BTW, in the barking dog thread yesterday I mentioned this is why you let the cops deal with neighbor issues - so you retain your anonymity (assuming you have a lot of neighbors of course) and avoid troubles like this. Generally speaking, keep to yourself and nobody will ever bother you.

I'm looking at Esmond, IL on Google Maps and it seems like it's be very hard to be anonymous. There's approximately 2-3 dozen houses within 1000 square feet!

Agreed. Take the legal, high road. Also, your lawyer may be able to draft some sort of cease & desist letter that essentially says, "fuck around more and we're going to pwn your ass in court." Also, you want to be the first to take the straight path into the legal system - before they do. i.e. Imagine they claim that you've been threatening them & file for an order of protection. At that point, any action by you through the legal system is going to look like it's simply done for retaliation.

it really sucks. every other neighbor in town is great. IF i need help with something there are at least 3 people in town that will come over in 5 minutes.

until these people moved into town i never thought twice about having to lock my door. IF something did disapear from my garage i would get a call saying hey i took this. i will bring it back in themorning etc.
