Jebus christ, what city/town do you live in where you fear getting robbed every minute of everyday? Was there a visa commercial about this or something?

Edit: you all fail at logic.

If the logic is such a "fail", why don't you disprove it?

And dont be fooled... Walmart & all major retailers already have those fees built into their markup prices... you just dont realize it.

It is against the TOS of all major credit cards (Visa,MC,Amex) to charge a surchage or require the customer to spend a minimum amount.

But they do it and try looking like an idiot trying to argue it. A lot of small mom and pop stores do this. There is this chinese grocery store that requires at least $25.00 min purchase on CC. It's all these small laws that no one follows and they exist anyways. Another example is technically it's against the law for a company to use your SSN as an identifying piece of information but they do it anyway. Just the day that someone gets sued for something that company or entity gets in trouble for doing it. A lot of universities and organizations now assign personal ids to their customers but keep their SSN information as an identifyer for their own personal reasons.

There's no need to argue it. Just report them to Visa/MC and they'll have their account suspended. The problem with shops like those is that they can't see the forest for the trees. They try to save every penny of expenses and completely miss that they are alienating a very large segment of consumers that is only going to get bigger.

get over yourself, the wait aint gonna kill you

It's inefficient and one more reason why all of us has to wait due to your inability to accept change.

The Urban Amish.....

If that extra 30 seconds to a minute makes such a huge difference in your life, you should stop going to stores completely and do all your shopping online. Otherwise quit your whining :D

This is why I always choose the line in the grocery store with guys. Of the people I see pay with checks, only 1 out of every hundred or so is a guy. Tends to be much faster.

I hate impatient people.

I generally hear such statements from those who are in no hurry because they simply have nothing better to be doing with their life than standing in a checkout line. Thankfully, I do, which is why my "impatience" is actually more like "I have other things to do with my life."

Anyway, people who use checks in grocery stores are poor and/or stupid, always bar none.

There's something horribly wrong with anyone who throws away thirty seconds of their own life simply to steal thirty seconds of life from all the people behind them. It's like some kind of sick passive sadomasochism.

But old people will have problems with that system to..... It's too complicated.

Wow! I can't wait until that day comes! Robbing people like you blind will become SO easy.
That van you walked by on the way into the store. Yeah it had some guys inside using an RFID scanner and guess what?? They now have all of your CC info and have just duplicated your card. Best part is you will have no clue until all these strange charges start appearing on your statement. Think you can just tell the CC company "but it wasn't me!"? Haha, wake up. No you will have to prove that it wasn't you. Otherwise you're liable for the charges. Oh, you'll just ask the store for their security camera footage? Assuming you are able to get it you really think thieves smart enough to grab your RFID info will be dumb enough to get themselves caught on camera? Large baseball cap ftw.

Simple question: How many times have you been robbed today? In the last week? In the last month? In your life?

Me: Never. I have lived in Reno, SF, Berkeley, LA, Austin, West Philly, and Boston. And i have traveled extensively all over the US.

Heres a statistic to help you out, the ratio of robberies to population in the US in 2006 is 0.0015. I hope that number quells your fears of being robbed every second. Car theft is about 2.7 times more likely to happen than robbery. Better go check on your car now! Only rape and murder are less likely to happen than robbery.

Ah yes... reporting them to MC will really help.
Then MC/Visa will suspend their account and they will stop accepting that form of payment all together. Thats real helpful.

Its easier to just not pay the fee until I absolutely have to.

So, what things are we allowed to care about? Statistically speaking of course. Is there an exact line? Such as 0.01? We should care about everything thats more likely than that and nothing below that line? I'm curious.

It's about time someone made that....

No, that is an idiotic commercial. Why do so many people use credit cards to pay for *everything*? $1.50 for drink at 7-11? Visa. $2.25 at the coffee shop? Visa. This is just idiotic. I *hate* these people! :| have you ever heard of an ATM? Its the machine that dispenses CASH.

lol, like that $20 bill is going to earn you sooo much interest? geez, you ddin't get that extra $.25 in interest this year

2-5% back from CC on every purchase plus interest on the float.Over the course of the year, it definitely adds up. All for far less effort than stopping by the bank or going to the ATM. Works for me. I don't understand why other people DON'T want to make free money.

Actually I would say at about 60-70% of the stores I visit, it would be faster to write a check. Swipe Card, Dail Up, Verify, Rip receipt, Sign Receipt, Hand back receipt copy. Although I use my check card for almost everything, I could probably write a check faster than that.

The fastest place I had been to was a grocery store in MN that had finger print payment. Keep your CC info on file attached to your print. Press thumb on pad, accept. That was it.

Check = pull check out of wallet/purse, pull out pen, write check, tear check, give check to clerk, clerk looks at check to check, asks for ID, pull out ID, clerk checks ID, clerk runs the check by the machine, machin runs, check is acceptable.

Sorry, most cases cc/debit are faster.
