Why in the hell do people still use personal check at checkout lines?

I understand using check with person to person transactions. But I can't understand it's use in grocery stores esp. when you have a huge line. It's so ass backwards fred flintstone bullshit. Considering you can go to your bank and get a debit card in the place of your checking account. Most banks provide free checking and includes a debit/credit card free??????

i use them because i know it pisses people like you off

honestly thats why i do it, i also dream about the day that i do it and there happens to be a AT member behind me who then comes and posts about it,

that would make my day

get over yourself, the wait aint gonna kill you

I know some people who just have this crazy, irrational complete refusal to use plastic to pay for anything.

I have a friend who didn't get his first credit card until he was 28 and he wonders why his credit sucks.

I like those visa card commercials that show everybody in line using visa or some sort of credit card. All of a sudden you see some bitch come up with a check and it pisses even the cashier off LOL.....

It's about time someone made that....

When I opened my first checking account (18) I ordered a box of checks. I'm 25 right now and still have the box of checks.......

I would say more people's credit sucks because they have a CC

It's inefficient and one more reason why all of us has to wait due to your inability to accept change.

because it's still a legal way to pay? Looks like the Visa adds actually work on some people

And plastic isn't

they both are. Who are you to try and decide how people should pay for their goods?

they are scared that the man will track their movements. <puts on tinfoil hat>

Seriously, I had a man come into Radio Shack the one day and refuse to pay with the little touchpad because he was scared that they would "capture" his signiture and use it everywhere. He made me swipe it, then signed it with a pen, because you know that is SOOOOOOOO much safer. 😕

People are paranoid.

I get people that write checks out in the line, it's no big deal. Sure it takes longer but maybe this person can't handle carrying a little card that can easily be dropped or stolen. With a Check, usually the person MUST present a Drivers License. With a credit card, all you do is Swipe, enter pin if it's debit, and just sign. Rarely ever do stores actually ask for my card and look at the back where I wrote "ASK FOR ID". Writing Checks doesn't take that long. All you have to do, is write the check out in advance, all you have to fill in is how much to pay. That's what I do. Usually I'm done writing the check and the employees aren't done with bagging my clothing. So it's the same as waiting for a person to bag.

I have a friend who's credit card was stolen and she had "ASK FOR ID" on the back of it. She hadn't canceled it to see how far it would go. The person who stole the credit card was able to go to 13 stores without being caught until the 14th store asked for ID and contacted officials. She now uses checks.

I know you can easily cancel a CC but then it takes a while for you to get the new CC, so I don't want to hear that.

Don't worry, many years from now you'll see post saying, "Why do people still use credit cards and debit cards instead of using the "quick pass card".

"quick pass card" being, no need to sign or enter pin number, just place it over and it'll do everything for you. Yes, I know there are out now...

i have 2 credit cards and a debit card

i write checks cause im an ass simple as that, its my own personal war against people like like you who are apperently on the way to a fire and need everyone else to move abnormally fast when doing normal every day things

and i only do this at the grocery store, i use a CC/debit card everywhere else, or cash

I don't even understand why this is an issue, while their groceries are being scanned and bagged just fill out everything except the price and then when you get the total write it in and hand it to the cashier. R-tards.

But at the same time I don't really care. If I'm there for a few things I'll just use the self-checkout, if it's a bunch of groceries and I'm waiting in line it's not like taking 20s to fill out a check it really going to slow things down much compared to minutes that are spent waiting for people's items to be scanned and bagged.

same. I lost my check a while back, and I seriously didn't even know until someone asked me for a check since i couldn't PayPal the money to them. I ended just paying them in cash the next time i saw them.

It amuses me when I go into the gorcery store and you know those self checkout lines. I see the old people there having a hard time with them. They need all kinds of assistance from the cashiers. It gets to a point where you can honestly say it's not even worth it because the cashier is spending more time trying to teach the person why to scan a piece of gum rather then doing it herself.

I hate impatient people.
If I see you in the store.. i will be sure to

1)seperate my order into 2 parts
2)forget something and go back to get it while my order is on the register
3)pay for both orders with checks
4)buy lottery tix after that
5)ask the bagger to help me load my bags into my vehicle.

if you prefer efficiency, then shop online. Stay the hell out of my B&M store.

This rant sucks. 0/10.

Is it really delaying you THAT much to have someone take 10-20 seconds to write out a check? Get over yourself.

Now BALANCING the checkbook while other people are waiting IS rude.
