That Crysis 3 video from E3 looks impressive, indeed. It seems they were running it on XBOX360. Still impressive visual though. Thanks for the link!
I'm pretty sure ubersampling is OGSSAA.
I don't think it's OGSSAA.
If it was OGSSAA, there would be enormous difference in VRAM usage.
I can't recall from my brief play last night. But I don't think I saw substantial difference in VRAM usage with ubersampling on/off.
I'll check again this weekend.
Yes, I assumed it was running on XBOX360 because of XBOX360 controller prompts on screen.I didn't watch the whole thing so I'm not sure what made you think it's console footage. If there's Xbox 360 controller prompts on-screen, then that most likely means they had a 360 controller plugged into a PC. Crysis 1 and 2 for PC had 360 gamepad support, so I wouldn't be surprised if Crysis 3 is the same.
They stated at the begining of the Video clip that they are running it on a PCYes, I assumed it was running on XBOX360 because of XBOX360 controller prompts on screen.
You're right. In that case, it must be running on PC with XBOX360 controller plugged-in. Very nice.
um what? he is at 1920x1080 and even my single gtx670 can average 60 fps with DX10 all very high settings and 4x AA.Sounds like you didn't have it maxed out. I don't think even 2 670's would pull an 80FPS average with it turned all the way up.
Try Maxed out with full AA/AF and 8x Super sampling in CP 40fpsum what? he is at 1920x1080 and even my single gtx670 can average 60 fps with DX10 all very high settings and 4x AA.
why? that is max settings available from within the game and with 4x AA which is also in the game. you start adding supersampling with high levels of AA and any game will get demanding as hell. heck I think I will try FXAA if I am going to use anything from the control panel.Try Maxed out with full AA/AF and 8x Super sampling in CP 40fps
FXAA is a LOW quality low requirement, LOW END version and option for use when your card just can not hack it with the real deal high quality AA/AF and super sampling. You cannot call a game maxed out when you have the video card forced in the control panel to limit of use lower quality of rendering than it is capable of just to maintain performance.why? that is max settings available from within the game and with 4x AA which is also in the game. you start adding supersampling with high levels of AA and any game will get demanding as hell. heck I think I will try FXAA if I am going to use anything from the control panel.
Fun fact, indeed. HeheFun fact: Although E3 is a mainly a console-oriented event, almost every demo and gameplay video you see are running on a PC.
FXAA can actually look better than MSAA in some cases:FXAA is a LOW quality low requirement, LOW END version and option for use when your card just can not hack it with the real deal high quality AA/AF and super sampling. I don't like FXAA at all because it makes the edges blurry in order to lessen the "Jaggies"FXAA can actually look better than MSAA in some cases:

maxed out means the in game settings so telling me I need to add supersampling AA was silly. and there is nothing wrong with using FXAA if you want to reduce jaggies without tanking the framerate.FXAA is a LOW quality low requirement, LOW END version and option for use when your card just can not hack it with the real deal high quality AA/AF and super sampling. So it's ok for Nvidia or AMD to get a higher score on 3D mark ect just because they forced LOWER QUALITY rendering via drivers and control panel settings even know the benchmark or game was played "at max settings" ? FXAA makes the picture of lower quality and crispness so IMO there is something wrong with it so just use lower levels of AA in order to maintain and preserve image quality IMHO.maxed out means the in game settings so telling me I need to add supersampling AA was silly. and there is nothing wrong with using FXAA if you want to reduce jaggies without tanking the framerate.
wtf are you on about? all I did was say that I ran Crysis on all DX10 very high settings and 4x AA and got 60fps. it was just a reply to 2is who was acting like gtx670 sli could not do 80 fps.So it's ok for Nvidia or AMD to get a higher score on 3D mark ect just because they forced LOWER QUALITY rendering via drivers and control panel settings even know the benchmark or game was played "at max settings" ?
The point is you can't say a game is really maxed out when the image quality is not being displayed at 100%. Crysis maxed out takes allot of power to run but the difference between a little bit of AA/AF and allot is like night and day hit the performance front and IQ.wtf are you on about? all I did was say that ran Crysis on all DX10 very high settings and 4x AA and you have not stopped making silly replies since.
NOBODY in their right mine will say that you have to use 8x supersampling from the control panel before you can call Crysis or any other game maxed out. when people say maxed out they refer to the in game settings. plus I specifically said DX10 very high settings and 4x AA so stop being ridiculous. The point is you can't say a game is really maxed out when the image quality is not being displayed at 100%. Well I was just simply observing that 4x AA in Crysis is not "maxed out" in game settings. The difference in performance level and IQ is night and day in Crysis going from 4x AA to 16x QAA MAX in game settings.NOBODY in their right mine will say that you have to use 8x supersampling from the control panel before you can call Crysis or any other game maxed out. when people say maxed out they refer to the in game settings. plus I specifically said DX10 very high settings and 4x AA so stop being ridiculous.
you really need to pay more attention to the wording BEFORE replying. DX10 very high and 4x AA means just what it says. I never said maxed out but if I would have without listing what AA then and only then would you have any valid argument.Well I was just simply observing that 4x AA in Crysis is not "maxed out" in game settings. well still maxed out in game what be what he or anybody else is referring to when they say that. and maxed out does not always mean with the highest in game AA either as long as that is made clear. in other words if someone says all maxed out then you think every setting including AA maxed. if they say all maxed out with/but/except 4x AA then they are making it clear exactly what they are running. most people with common sense and a single gpu do not run the very highest level of AA in every game because it is not worth it. and even with 16xQ AA, I get 50 fps in Crysis so again the guy with 670 sli could easily get 80 fps with the game fully maxed.![]()
This post is more what I was replying to![]()
