You have to be a complete idiot to get killed in a t8 vs a biplane. IE engage in angle fighting against a craft that you will never be able to shake once you get in a low energy state. Play a t8 intelligently and you'll tear them up in a pass or two with BnZ.

Plenty of idiots to go around. :)

You realize that this wasn't true about two patches ago, right? The game changes what it wants to be every patch.

They fixed boom n zoom right now so yes, tier 8 would probably rip apart a tier 1 now.

The ponies are kind of fun. But only grinded it for the free exp. Hoping to get enough to convert to lvl 13 in the German airforce and get the G6 :D

Didnt make it to the G6. But the sale is welcome to buy the FW190-A.

Usual buff nerf cycle, but still most people who complain about losing to a biplane are playing to its strengths. It actually a nice change from WoT where you couldn't hope to damage a t10 tank in a t1 tank. In WT you can win if your opponent is careless.

I played for maybe a half hour or so last night and pretty much rage quit. Just could not do a fucking thing. My planes (German and Soviet) are level 5 and 6 but it doesn't matter if I use those or just the bi-planes because I get loved gently either way.

Takes me forever to kill enemies and once someone gets behind me I'm fucked. Goddammit. :(

Once someone gets on your tail it's hard to shake them off. If you can't out-turn or out-run them then your only real option is to use evasive maneuvers as much as possible while leading them towards team mates and-or ground AA while calling for help with the voice menu. If you have neither around or your team mates aren't helping then you're probably screwed if they're a decent pilot at all.

Basically having someone on your tail is about as screwed as you can get, of course it's hard to get out of that situation.

Just think how many times you've heard this kind of line in movies:

"They're on my tail, I can't shake them!!! AaaAAaAaaaaaiiiii!!!" *BOOM*

What is your energy state when you get bounced? Lots of planes suck at low energy state. If you're low and slow and get jumped expect to be loved gently. Most planes in those tree at that level are going to be energy fighters. The Brits and Japs are the angle fighters around there IIRC.

Got the first two FW190s. Man these feel sluggish compared to the BF109s. First game was not impressive at all. 2 kills, two FW190s lost. An LA5 got me in the first one. And I got rammed by a team mate going after an ME410 in the other. Going to take a few games to get used to this plane.

After flying the FW190A5 and getting used to its flight characteristics. I am really liking this platform. Rolls well and can dive better than the 109. Not as much of a brawler as the 109. I hit and run with it.

I also decided to try out the A20G and get some bombing in. Have to say this side of the game is kind of enjoyable. Killed 16 ground targets using the A20 and P47 last night with 3 air kills.

Got the yak-9T recently. I've noticed a lot more people actively trying to ram me while flying it.

I ram all Russian flyers. :colbert:

I started up the Brit line, I like the planes. Very forgiving and easy to play, now I'm starting up the German line. That definitely has taken some getting used to. Pin point 2 MGs in the nose vs. firing a ton of guns with the Brit planes. I haven't gotten the first 109 yet so I can't judge the planes really yet, just much different and much more unforgiving compared to british planes.

I only ram if my plane is about dead anyways and there isnt a way to repair it. Then Ill play chicken with the full intention of just driving into them. Or if I run into a much higher plane than mine. Worth the loss of my low tier plane to take a high tier out of the match.

I only ram head on.

Got the 109-G6 last night :D

Picked up the 109 E3. It's one very beastly plane! I like it a lot, very nimble and quick with decent enough guns though it has low ammo. I do a lot of bouncing on people and then zoom off. I have to be careful of bombers, if I take a bad angle and hit them I don't have enough cannon to kill them, I need to actually hit something to do something.

Are there any guides on describing the how to's of the system? Still haven't used anything other than my starter crap because so little info I've found.

Tried out the G6. First it took about 4 mins for a game to pop. Then when it did only about half full. Then I proceeded to get owned at that higher tier. Ended the match with my first negative kill ratio since first playing. 2 kills, 6 deaths. Those D12 and D13s wrecked me!Ouch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Force those Doras into a low and slow with your friends around and they'll be eaten for dinner.

I've come to truly appreciate my BF109s despite their relatively weak armament. Especially as a joystick user though, you need the mass/second when you only have a moment to unleash on a target, so I have to really work for my kills, as opposed to pointing and clicking my way around, letting the game do the turning, etc for me. Mouse control is for ******s.

Whatever. After a few hours I am sooooo done with this. Going into it, I knew aiming would be a bitch, but I wish I had known that it's 50/50 whether elevators will even work while in a dive. I'm sure there is some technical reason for them barely working when I need them most, but I don't care. I'm just looking for a good game to play and I was in arcade mode. I appreciate realism in gameplay, but not to that extent. I feel like I would need a pilots' license to begin to appreciate this game, though a lifelong obsession with flight sims might also cut it.

It's a game with a huge learning curve, especially newbies if they've never played a flight game of any kind.

I've enjoyed Freespace 2 and X3; I'm familiar with the basics. Maybe I should blame the 360 controller I was using with WT, or maybe those two don't really count since there is no ground to run into. Whatever. Either way, WT's learning curve is a cliff; I think I'll do something else, for a while at least.

I think the biggest hurdle is getting people to use teamwork with random players and no voice comms.

True, but like any MP game, it's very a very narcissistic game, especially when hits and kills net you in game cash and XP necessary for upgrades. It's just as bad as CoD or BF3.
