I'm still playing the game. I'm still enjoying it.
I like the Aircraft battles better than the Tanks at this point.

I'm about done with Tier 3 Germans. P-63 are my nemesis. B-17's too.

looks like today's patch may be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

gaijin went full retard, so much so that they pulled the spreadsheet listing the BR changes.

I just got into this. It has so much potential, but man there's a lot of BS involved. I can get into an epic chase of a guy only to have his friend come right behind me, shoot once, and kill my pilot. I'd say that's about half of my deaths.

I hope someone takes the engine and makes a non free-to-play version with a dynamic campaign ala Falcon 4.

You have to work up the pilot stamina to prevent that from happening as much. It's a pain in the ass until you get your skills up to 20ish.

Sticking to realistic battle isn't as exciting but you actually have to fly the plane and earn your kills. Feels much more rewarding and any BS in RB is your fault.

Do tell. Been out for a few days. I cant believe how over complicated they are making their tiering system.

so the good news is that WT has only lost 12,000 players since the 1.41 patch 100,000 peak.
~87K online for this golden eagle weekend.

the bad news is of those 87K only half will play regularly when they arent giving eagles away or having some special event.

im at a good stopping point, i could grind for a jet but i wouldnt be having any fun. if ship battles turn out to be any good i may come back.

Am I the only one who didn't enjoy this game? I played it on PS4 (yes, I know this is the PC forum) and I didn't like it at all.

Usually a big fan of these types of games too

What's this I hear about ship battles?

I left WT about 2 months ago to try WOT ... and never looked back. Wargaming.net has posted plans for World of Warships ... but have not been able to find a date when play begins. Would move back to WT if they had this feature.

Controls are bleh, although that's more attributed to the complexity of flying around.

Interface was mucky as hell, and just didn't enjoy the gameplay. It was boring for me to be frank :\

Different strokes, I guess. The gameplay is the only reason I stuck around as long as I did. Arcade battles did get really dull, with constant climbing, BnZ, and seal clubbing; but RB mixed battles hit the sweet spot between realism and interesting gameplay, more or less. What eventually got me was Gaijin's complete indifference to what their fans wanted, the only sounds to ever penetrate their thick skulls were glorious patriotic anthems and the ringing of cash registers.

100,000 peak is for the entire world or US server only?

worldwide. when tanks went open in 1.41 they got some wot people who switched over to get a taste. a good amount of them went back to wot.

they added the ps4 players so that helped buoy the player numbers but overall they have settled back down the original ~40K players that were playing before tanks came out.

during the weekdays you get a low of ~18k to a peak of ~45k players online. on weekends it sometimes peaks to ~55k. it takes gaijin giving away premium vehicles or gold to bring back the inactive players.

but overall WT loses as many active players as it gains. i imagine that all it will take is one good new game in the flight/space sim genre to steal away a good portion of the playerbase. matchmaking times or BR spread will go to hell when that happens.

Im curious from a PS4 player perspective. Did you feel at a disadvantage vs PC players?

for ps4 you either have to hook up mouse and kb or change settings to a pure joystick config. though once you are in joystick mode you can really only get a fair fight vs other joystickers or venture into simulator battles.

btw, it seems the sim battle players are now policing the sb matches and teamkilling any noobs using b17. they call themselves the skypolice and are using squaded sbds to try to goad b17 pilots. if they dont take the bait they ram the b17.

Ok, that's awesome. Did the freedom lasers (US 12mm) ever get fixed, or is that part of what motivates the skypolice? Now I'm really tempted to log in and check that out, but I'm moving tomorrow and really ought to stop procrastinating on my packing.

B17s and other US bombers are still ridiculous. AB has devolved into bombers chasing down other bombers for air kills. Bombers, specifically the B17 chasing fighters to kill them.

My favorite death from a bomber was when going after an LA9 in my FW190D9. I kill him pull up and do a loop. While at the top of the loop I see the spray across my plane. Fuuuuuu a B17 1.2KM below going in the opposite direction. I didnt see him when going after the LA9. Fried my engine, body, and one wing. I couldnt float back to base.

But right now the biggest issue is the MM based on statistical tiering. This places planes flown by crappy pilots into a lower tier. For instance. P63s and P47Ds going up against BF109 E3s. Yeah, that is fair. 1939 plane vs late 43 early 44 planes.

the skypolice are protesting the numbers of noob arcade pilots bringing b17 into SB games. since the b17 gets an airstart, they just have to point the b17 in the direction of the enemy and let the gunners kill anyone who gets in the vicinity. people are literally just pointing the plane at start and coming back later.

ships or naval battles are probably due sometime in 2016 for cbt. with wot ships likely coming out next year, i cant imagine they want to wait more than 2016.

1st step towards world war mode. 1.51 Cold Steel patch

http://forum.warthunder.com/index.php?/topic/248705-update-notes-151-preliminary-21062015/

it might actually bring some of the older players back. especially if this is the british tank roll out.

That game mode just sounds like a turkey shoot for people who managed to join the game mode match right as it started.

Sounds fun to join in a Kingfisher or He 51 and get annihilated by someone in a Yak 9 or a Griffon Spit.

Thanks, I just finished getting all of the other ones up to tier 3, IMO I have the most fun in the game at tier 2.
