Wow, just went through buying all the ammunition belts I could and spent 200K on rank 9 Japanese, and 360K on Rank 10 British and ran out of money before I could buy all the available ones for my selected British planes. :( Even worse, they removed the "Buy All Weapons" button so now you have to buy each separately and wait 3-5 seconds for the server to complete the purchase for each one. Ugh.

What's happening is some planes don't have flight models finished; they don't have realistic flight patterns/ "feels". For example, I just had a match against a few F2A bots while inside a tier 8 japan fighter. No matter how hard I tried, if I started the fight at equal speeds, 9/10 they could climb or match my speed in a level flight at 100 altitude, 1k, and 1.5k. I was gaining maybe 0.01 per 7 seconds, not moving and straight line flight at 1k altitude. That makes NO sense.

I ended up just alt f4ing the game because it was becoming such a joke. I then asked in general and it was confirmed they haven't finished that planes model yet. They are selling content for the game, monthly premium accounts, etc while the game itself is in open beta. Quite a few planes in the game don't even have remotely correct stats/hitboxes.

Classy!

Edit: I'm also finding this patch added a huge amount of bugs, such as when repairing a plane at a runway sometimes the plane will be DRASTICALLY slower after repair. I had a tier 7 fighter, lost a wing, repaired and could never get above 380 km/h without losing it in a level flight. Maybe just a weird bug, but I've noticed tons of other little quirks.

It is a beta so tweaking ect is too be expected. You dont have to buy premium time ect. Those of us who did understand it is a beta and to expect a lot of changes. But I am doing it more for the fact it is easier to level out with a premium.

As for the bi-planes shooting down higher tier planes. Dont go head to head with a bi-plane and dont get into a turning fight with one and you should be ok. If you go into the furball and there are bi-planes you will have issues in a slower turning plane.

I try to stay out of the furball all together except when *ding* *ding* playing my soviet bi-planes. I prefer to stay high and look for stragglers to pick off away from the pack.

Interesting, didn't know that. Will definitely play there.

The new flight models and tweaks to arcade mode are noticeable. My 109F4s weren't exactly nimble. Now they are sluggish and I need to watch my speed.

Yeah, went in with my rank 10 British planes and was 4 deaths 1 kill before I finally found one of my planes that flew like I was expecting and managed to change that up to 4 deaths and 5 kills. Money wise it seems similar to what I was earning before as rank 10, got about 40K xp and lions for that win. I think part of the complaining on that front was that income was scaled for lower ranks so people would stop farming low rank fights for lions.

However, the plane, crew, training and upgrade pricing is still way to high IMO and needs to be lowered quite a bit.

Wow major changes in gameplay, much harder to bomb depending on your plane, huge decrease in t0 battles

It has taken me a few games to get used to the feel of the plane. I have died more to my miscalculation on what the plane can do and plowing into the ground than from the enemy lol. The game feels much slower in arcade now. I cant say it is a good or bad thing. But it definitely makes me more cautious of what tactics I am using. Still getting a bunch of kills for the most part. Leading my team in most games with 6-10 kills a match.

One nice thing is bi-planes really cant catch anybody in arcade anymore. The UFO affect is nearly gone from them. I simply sped away in my airacobra tonight while a nimrod tried to chase but had no chance of getting to me. He gave up quickly as I my distance grew very fast.

There will still be a ton of people whining about biplanes kicking their ass in dogfights, heh. :)

I'm finding it is quite difficult to take down an enemy plane unless you're using the right ammo types which I like and now I'm finding out how to get the most out of my planes. Scored about 4 pilot kill crits in one match alone last night with my modified British loadout.

Re: Lions, I think they've made a step in the right direction with the concepts behind their changes but the figures could do with some tweaking to make things more enjoyable and less grindy.

One thing that's bugging me is that there's a lot of misidentification of whom killed what plane. I've noticed that I can smash a plane with multiple crits, turn away (to reload or I was getting too close), only to find that someone else taps it with a machine gun and gets the kill, leaving me often without an assist. Their kill/kill assist detection is completely screwy.

That isn't a new problem, it was that way in 1.27 as well. Same exact thing, you can get multiple crits on a plane, do a ton of damage and then a couple other pilots do minor damage to finish it off and you get neither the kill or the assist.

If AA or ships take down the plane you get robbed the same way.

The problem is certainly worse in 1.29 in my opinion.

I still like the adjustments for the most part in Arcade mode, but everything else is just horrible. Backup planes costing goldmarks, new UI changes, flight models still not finished, ammunition types, biplanes still able to keep up against tier 8's, and a ton of other bugs introduced are off-putting to say the least.

I think the 1.29 patch is overall quite a good step forward. Yes, the fudged things in certain areas but many of those will be simple tweaks.

My comment which you quoted was only related to the kill/kill assist awards being worse in 1.29 compared to 1.27 (where it was quite hit n miss already)

The kill/kill assist system was pretty perfect in 1.27, I'm still not sure what they did to it to mess it up so bad.

Oh I am sure if people stick around they will continue to be out turned. I took a run at the little guy and didnt get him. I saw he wanted to tangle but no way was I going to get into a turning fight with him. Buh bye to fight another day. It worked out better for me anyways. Found a P40 and sent him into a mountain side :)

The kill\assist system has had issues since I started playing. Some times I will light a guy on fire but somebody else will get the kill. But I wont even get an assist for it. Other time I take a shot at somebody and get one non crit hit and get an assist.

Have you guys played around with the shell types yet? I was loading the default load for all of my planes. It sounds like the german cannons got a nice buff due to these shell types.

Played a lot of 1.29 last night for the first time and I'm liking the changes. The fast planes actually get up to speed much easier, like they should, and become difficult to control beyond minor adjustments. My only complaints are the removal of the "Buy All Weapons" button for planes, the cost of planes and the bonus planes option. The last does feel like gold ammo in WoT and is a bit too much on the pay to win side.

They also added the option to send a crew slot on vacation so if you have more than 4 slots you can still run an all bi-plane setup if you want. Did that with a squad mate last night with a squad rank of 1 and it put us in a game with rank 5 planes. I still managed to be in first place a good deal of the fight and finished in 2nd. However, xp and credits seem to scale based on the rank of your hangar and not the rank/type of planes you kill. Not a huge deal though, flying the biplanes was a ton of fun.

I have really liked the FM changes in 1.29. I still don't know which rounds are the best but have been using stealth rounds. I don't like the price of planes at all. I think they will have to run more sales or adjust the price. I hit lvl 11 in the german air force but cant afford the FW-190 and probably wont for awhile. And I have little interest in spending real money to get it either as my BF109s are kicking some major arse right now. I had a game tonight where I killed 13 and the two planes lost was me mis-judging my ability to maneuver and ended with me in the drink. And the other bailing because I didn't have time to repair. 1.29 has made the German planes solid from a maneuver perspective. Still not sold on their armaments until you get into two cannon fighters. That single 20mm canon just doesn't get it done imo compared to the 37mm on the airacobras\kincobras or the spitfires. And never mind the Soviets. They output half the KG\s as their competition. Have to really work to get kills.

I have been running the Soviet reserve planes with the lvl 1 biplane. They are lol worthy.

Been playing the Soviet bi-planes so much I dinged lvl 8 in their air force. So I decided to try out the Yak 9t. Talk about lol. That 37mm gun is ridiculous and the plane takes a beating. Question is which plane should I get next?

FW-190A
Yak 3

I am leaning towards FW-190A because of its guns selection. But I have to admit that the Soviet planes are pretty nice as well.

Shell types make a lot of difference. Look at what each type offers in the ammunition loadouts and the default load is pretty bad at times. The Beaufighter has practice rounds loaded out... the Omni rounds are all around very good for most all fighters. I like doing the Stealth loadouts though to take out the tracer and put in another AP or HE type round.

I have a hurricane loaded out with nothing but incendiary tracers, it's a neat lightshow but I get used to stealth rounds with my other aircraft and get distracted and miss more than I should with all those pretty lights.

FW. Yak is good but the changes in the last patch to the German tree make it worth investing in them now. I've leveled pretty much every nation to at least level 6 on several accounts and so far the Russian planes are "my favorite". By favorite I mean its clear I score WAY more kills in those compared to German or any nations low tier planes. As mentioned above, after you get rid of the one 20mm gun on the German planes, things start improving a ton. I think the German planes move on par with even the Japanese planes now.

biplanes still able to keep up against tier 8's,

You have to be a complete idiot to get killed in a t8 vs a biplane. IE engage in angle fighting against a craft that you will never be able to shake once you get in a low energy state. Play a t8 intelligently and you'll tear them up in a pass or two with BnZ.
