Heh try using a mouse and keyboard. I have no idea how a 360 controller would work. But it doesnt sound like it worked well if you are having issues with elevators working properly.

Whatever. After a few hours I am sooooo done with this. Going into it, I knew aiming would be a bitch, but I wish I had known that it's 50/50 whether elevators will even work while in a dive. I'm sure there is some technical reason for them barely working when I need them most, but I don't care. I'm just looking for a good game to play and I was in arcade mode. I appreciate realism in gameplay, but not to that extent. I feel like I would need a pilots' license to begin to appreciate this game, though a lifelong obsession with flight sims might also cut it.

Mouse/KB arcade mode is about as easy as it gets

It's a game with a huge learning curve, especially newbies if they've never played a flight game of any kind.

This is the easiest to get into flight game out there with the kb/mouse controls and arcade mode, it's not realistic but it works i find.

I have embraced the kb/mouse setup in warthunder. I did remap the W/S to the elevator controls since the mouse wheel already controlled throttle.

:hmm:

Fine, the problem was the gamepad presets, kb+m presets are pretty easy. That will teach me to assume something works just because it is immediately recognized...

Gah, I dunno why I haven't done that yet. I'm Tallbill on there, been playing a lot of lvl 2-3, almost always get first place. Once I max out xp on those planes I'll move up.

So I went to visit a friend the other day at his house, and tried out War Thunder since he has way better internet than me (and at home I usually lag out and crash into the ground, most of my deaths). Since I didn't bring my joystick, I tried kb+m. Wow. They really make this easy. It's easier to bomb, easier to dogfight, when using the keybaord.

Which mode requires a joystick? Is it historic or full realism? I might have to go that route. At least then I'll be on par with those who use a joystick.

I'm hoping to get into this game soon...and this thread has a lot of posts. Is there a best control scheme? I have an Xbox360 controller and (obviously) mouse + kb.

I just picked this up, and my first thought was to use my 360 controller. Now, I wouldn't even suggest you try that unless you have experience in adjusting gamepad/joystick settings, the 360 presets are almost completely unplayable.

You may want to remap a few keys, but their kb+m controls are very intuitive and that's what I recommend.

World of War Planes beats out War Thunder. War Thunder felt like a cheap knock off of WoWP.

Every time I deal with Wargaming I end up wanting to shake a baby. :colbert: That plus WoWP's reputation as a joke meant I didn't even give it a try.

And it is a simple fact that WT is almost a full year older than WoWP. If anything, WG ripped off Gaijin.

Troll moar.

Tried this game over the weekend. Fun. Quick and easy to get into. Mechanics and physics reminds me alot of ace combat.

Got a "gift" plane but can't figure out how to load it up. I'm the right level but I cant order it. Any ideas?

Yep, I had pulled my old Logitech Wingman out of retirement for it, only to find that it controls much better with the mouse.
That and the rudder controls on my joystick are starting to go out. :(

It is already "ordered" you click on the down arrow of it in the research pane. That should put it into a slot in your hanger, replacing another plane.

You should have a gift 1 level from the first air force you played.

Yeah I understand that part as I've researched several planes. Thanks for taking a crack at my ??? though, appreciated. The problem with my "gift" is where it keeps saying "This aircraft can only be obtained by purchasing a special item". Sigh.....not really a "gift" then huh?

Wasn't trolling. I'd call you a name in return, too, but apparently it's against the rules to insult people on this forum. Should probably reconsider your knee-jerk reaction.

You're dissing a game you haven't even played, and you're calling ME a troll?

Laugh.

Just picked this game up last week. A lot of issues are fixed that I had before, and tons of new fighters to keep my loadouts free of bombers.

I haven't played in months but this latest patch is a really nice improvement. These folks could teach WG a few tricks, WT is definitely more fun than WoWP

I've played WoWP through the beta at different times. I am utterly shocked to find out they intend to release it as a final product this month. It isnt anywhere near ready for release. It is barely alpha quality. And compared to War Thunder a laughing stock.

This, I have tried WoWP on and off a few times, especially since I knew they were going to unify the gold/premium between their titles. I have a huge amount of time devoted into WoT so it made sense for me to stick with the brand.

WoWP was just plain BAD. I mean horribad. I mean so bad that I wanted to uninstall world of tanks for being from the same company. How anyone can say it is on the same caliber, or better than War Thunder is beyond me.

It has been a long time since I have been so disappointed with a product. When they were offering free tokens that could be redeemed for gold, it was still not worth it for me to play that game.
