What the? How does a mediocre quarterback "always show potential to be great"? To be great you first have to be good. Right? So he had to look pretty good, if according to you he showed flashes of being great.
Oh, I think that's pretty much the definition of mediocre. seriously, your level is defined by
what you do. It's one thing to simply be good, but quite another to show talent and potential for greatness, but constantly be
merely good.
Your disconnect with what everyone is saying here is simply mindboggling. I mean, I don't know if you take lessons from Sharpton or J Jackson, and look at any type of critique as some form of racism or discrimination, but NOT A SINGLE PERSON here has ever crapped on Vick's talent and skill.
HIS HISTORY has shown that he never worked hard enough, or simply made poor decisions during games. Honestly, I think he was better than mediocre, but I've always really liked him on the field.
He has never been elite. I honestly hope he continues this level of play into the next 3 seasons. Then he can be considered elite.
I look at what he's done now as a completely new type of player. He was good before, took time off, changed (msotly improved) his game, and became better. I think of Jordan going from Air Jordan to Fade away/defensive master Jordan after his retirement, and becoming that much better. (not that Vick in teh NFL was as good as early Jordan, mind you.
