I know it was a joke, and now I know you don't read well, so you stuff it. :D

Edit: and apparently I suck at quoting.

And now, the entire city of New York and its surrounding areas all hate unions. Unbelievable that they pull this $hit a week before the holidays. :| I really hope they don't think they're gaining any form of public support from this little stunt.

Basically, the way the public sees it - they are screwing millions of people who rely on public transportation to function - people who are now basically immobilized. Millions can't get to work, or anywhere for that matter. They are essentially taking the holidays away from those who must travel to be with loved ones.

They know that they have the city by the balls, and are basically using that power to attempt to extort money out of it, and get the city to capitulate to their ridiculous demands. People aren't stupid - they see all of this, and know exactly what's going on. I really do hope it comes back to bite the MTA officials in their greedy ass - in the form of everyone calling for their heads on a pike.

As an aside, does anyone see parallels with the UAW and GM in all of this?

This is fvcking unbelievable.

EDIT: I'm thinking I *may* be OK - I live with an NYC cop. If he's going to work on Friday morning...I may be able to hitch a ride. I'm sure he's got ways around the carpool restrictions. :D I'm keeping my fingers crossed...

public union and private union is apple and orange, you can't just compare them to UAW. public unions need to be banned. :|

If they do go on strike, it'll be interesting to see how mta employees will be able to pay the fine that they'll get.

hahaha, the union just signed its death bed. Good. I hope they strike themselves to bankrupcy and learn that the age of something for nothing is over.

i cant understand why they canot deploy national guards to drive the train, or have LIRR or Metro North people go overtime to fill in for the missing Subway conductors, at limited capacity, im sure trains are simmilar enough with each other and NG could've been trained on operating trains in advance of the strike?

union leader mofos burn in hell :|

I know something about operating trains, and it's not something you can learn that quickly. You need to know what the signals mean, the system operating rules, the speed limits in all the different places (trains have speed limits and they do vary, but they don't have any signs). And the different lines can have different trains with different controls.

Much too dangerous to have rookies driving trains full of people.

It's not that hard! CJ in GTA had no problem running a train.

Oh, wait, I derailed the sucker and ran it off the tracks on a tight curve :p

I want to say just a day but the one in 1980 lasted for 11 days!! That's insane. So I have no clue, though if I were a betting man I would say 1-2 days. MTA will slightly raise their offer and the Union will have to accept it. What they are doing is illegal and it is costing them a lot of moeny. And every day that goes by, they will get worse and worse press.

won't last more than a week. After a week, they are taking 128 days of pay in fines.
