That's a weakness of the PS4 then. I'm actually getting great control from M/KB and I have killer framerates on my PC on ultra @ 120hz. The control is way better than the body swivel that they did in T3
Rope arrow is in the first 3 minutes of the game. But one thing that was different. As you recall the rope arrow in the last 3 games was to any wood surface and then vine arrow worked on almost anything, this one in the prologue level only worked on a specific spot so I didn't care for that. Hopefully it opens up later and is less linear.
Anyone know how long they have been working on this game?
I replayed both recently and many levels weren't that linear at all. Sure two or three plot heavy missions were (Escape / The Maw Of Chaos / etc), but many others (Down in the Bonehoard, The Sword, The Mage Towers, Shipping and receiving, First City Bank & Trust, Casing the Joint, Masks, etc) were far from being "railroad" and you could easily backtrack from the end right to the start in virtually every mission if you missed any loot, often via at least 2 different routes.I could go on with many complaints about Thief 1 and 2 just as easily and I don't know how any game could be more linear than those 2 were.
The latest nVidia drivers are junk, I'm on the late January again and no more problems with any games like I had with the 334.89'sI wanted to start enjoying the game, but 5 minutes in "bam" crash to desktop. This is with VSync off, like many posters have suggested for crashing issues, and with latest NVidia drivers.

I was starting to enjoy the game in my first hour or so.. but as you have stated it's now pretty much a rail sneaker. The rope arrow in the original games could be fired into any wooden surface climbed and re-collected, because the games had an actual jump key, and allowed Garrett to pull himself up basically any ledge he could stand on, this combintion meant you could roam around vastly complex 3D mazes which often had as much height as width and depth.
It meant you had to observe your surroundings, you didn't have just path A to the left and path B to the right, one of which requires a vent and another of which requires a rope arrow, what you had was a true maze which had rafters everywhere, wooden support beams and posts to climb. It meant you could explore every nook and cranny and use the levels geometry against the guards.
Thi4f basically ruins that, there's no dynamic rope arrows anymore that you can fire into any surface that happens to be wood, you have rope arrows which can only fire into pre-canned areas to open up the linear path behind that "route", they might as well just have had a ladder or a drainpipe, you can't even jump in the game so you can't arbitaraily leap off a rope arrow to access any part of the map you like, you have to climb and "exit" the rope at the appropriate time with a precanned animation. It literally might as well be a ladder pre-placed in the environment, they're functionally the same thing.
Thi4f is literally a rollercoaster you're locked into, you can't explore a world which has depth, breadth and height, you follow a series of linear paths and sometimes those paths branch based on whether you chose to fight your enemy head on, or stealth past them.
That's about as insulting and betraying to the core ideas of the original Thief games as you can get, they tried to reassure fans during development that they knew Thief had loyal fans and they wanted to really honor the original game, but they've done the opposite they've disrespected the name in order to create a casual game with mass market appeal. Everything that's wrong with gaming.
yep 332.21Thanks, I'll try that. Do you know the driver version from January?
what has assasins creed to do with thief?
stealth in AC is a joke

Climbing, exploration, more access around the map. This is what my take is what people were expecting.
OK, so you don't like the fundamental idea behind Thief 1 and 2, it's safe to say they weren't made for you.But like the initial Thief games, it was all very unnecessary. *Snip*
Depends. I played Thief 1-3. This games falls short in comparison big time. However, as a game, probably not the worst nor is it the best either. I might pick it up when the price goes down and the bugs (hopefully) are fixed,n the last 2 pages you guys just killed this game for me. I don't know why I couldn't see it, but this is a bad game isn't it?
No people wanted Thief not a murderer. <--- that line is not myself or anyone else in here being original. That is a specific requirement of the older thief games. Thief was never about being a killer. We have PLENTY of killing games. So I guess people wanted assassins creed without weapons.
