Had the opportunity to meet some of TWD cast at TerrorCon today. It wasn't crazy crowded, so we got to spend some quality time chatting with everyone we saw because there were only a few people in line & they weren't rushing us through (unlike ComicCon, where there's like 300 people in line & you barely get to say hi, haha), which was really awesome. Abraham was our favorite, extremely nice guy, totally down-to-earth. He really made our day.
King Ezekiel is a very high-energy guy, extremely personable & friendly. You can tell he really enjoys acting & enjoys the panels and the fans, he's super into it. If there was ever a guy who really loved what he does, it was this guy. They actually made him shave his head for the role so he could wear the dreads wig. Father Gabriel is a lot more soft-spoken but can be pretty funny too, and comes across as a very intelligent guy.
It's really fun to see how actors are IRL vs. their on-screen characters because there are some people who project certain aspects of their personality into their roles & when you meet them, you can kind of see where they're coming from. Like Khary Payton is a very outgoing person & I can see how he hams that up for his role as "king" in the show. He also voices Cyborg in Teen Titans Go! & some other shows.
We got to meet some other non-TWD people too, like Chris Sarandon (Prince Humperdinck from The Princess Bride), which was awesome; he was a lot more serious in-person & I could see how that worked for his role in The Princess Bride. I also had no idea he voiced Jack in the Nightmare Before Christmas! David Ellefson from Megadeth was there too. Pic from his FB page getting an autograph from Ezekiel:
Overall, the crowd was a lot different than I expected. My wife is a huge horror nerd so this was her Con, I haven't been to a TerrorCon before. Not a lot of gothic-type people floating around, surprisingly. Not even much cosplay going on. Hardly any rabid fanboys either. Mostly it was a lot of people who were fans of certain shows & wanted to see the actors in the panels & stuff. It was actually a lot more relaxing than other venues...not insanely crowded, not a lot of craziness going on, etc. And of course it was really nice to spend some time talking shop with people from different shows, which is unusual because at the bigger cons you don't even get to speak to some of the people you get photo ops with, so that was probably the highlight for me.
TL;DR: I got to meet Abraham today, it was an awesome day.
