So is the comic book really as shitty as the TV show is? Jesus fuck, when will this dumbfuckery end? Had I known it would be THIS bad, I would never have bothered.

I personally think the comic is worst than the show.

Well, for quite a while it has been. Quite slow in my opinion and as of now, has about one interesting direction it could go in.

Kirkman has become the master of trolling via the comics.

I'm still not over how the mounted 50 cals still had live rounds on the belt in season 1(I think?) by the CDC. That is the only problem I have with this show.

The whole premise with the garbage people was bullshit. In what universe do you trust your life to a group of people you just met? How does that make any sense? And how, in the course of just 3 years or so (in the story timeline) do you develop your own dialect? I sort of like the way they talk but come on. This isn't 200 years after the zombie apocalypse where you've had time for language to evolve - or devolve as the case may be.

As far as the gun battles, the show places a lot of importance on how cool the protagonist characters look. You're not going to show Darrel walking around with a 30lb ammo vest containing a half dozen 30 round clips. So where does the ammo come from? He pulls it out of his ass as far as we can tell. But the writers know that nobody actually cares.

Well he used to re-use his arrows by pulling them out of zomb heads. As for the garbage people...my real answer is for intimidation / intergroup interaction(their leader always has that irritating smirk), or they are just brain dead from garbage water.

The garbage people is probably the worst x group in TV series history.

I finally got around to watching the episode.. I'm a bit confused on what happened to Rick's gunshot wound. I'm pretty sure he got shot by the Garbage Queen, and then suddenly it was gone.. like it never happened.. No blood on the shirt, no Rick being unable to freely move and fight.. just nothing.. Did I miss something? I get there was a lot of over the top stupidity, but you'd think they'd at least pretend to have some kind of continuity in the same episode.

You gotta love how we're still nitpicking plot point details of a TV show about zombies that based off of a comic book :)

A lot of it I agree.. I do have a thing about shows obeying it's own rule sets. If the show has them scrounging for ammo, then ammo should be a shortage issue. If someone gets shot in the side, they should go ow a lot.

The point is that we CAN nitpick plot points of a TV show about zombies that is based off a comic book. Things have gotten so stupid that the show makes a mockery of its source material.

The source comic is just as bad.. the only difference is you notice a lot more things when it's live action.
I'll give you the Garbage people being stupid beyond the books, as they don't exist, but the rest kinda happened.

Thank you. Here I thought I was the only one that thought that was absurd. And how did so many uniformly ugly people manage to find each other?

The garbage people is probably the worst x group in TV series history.

I just got caught up. Seriously, the garbage people are TWD's "jump the shark" moment. Even Negan's group is starting to make sense given the explanatory background...the rule through intimidation & fear. It was kinda lame at first, but once you understand Negan has rules for everyone else & he's a nutjob so he does as he pleases, it more or less makes sense. The garbage people felt like they should be out of some sci-fi movie. I can definitely see their scenes getting made fun of in MST3K. I liked the idea of people living in junkyard (Sauron's minion in the cagefight was pretty cool too), but they pushed the language thing too far...maybe if it was just the head lady, but since everybody was talking like that, nope. Nah. Just nope. I would have bought it IF there was signs of intelligence in the others, but they were just so worn down to survival that one-word answers were all they gave, but that's not at all how they portrayed it.

I do have to hand it to the writers, great misdirection. I was totally not expecting the garbage people to turn on Rick, that was awesome.

Also, did I miss something? When did Judith turn like three years old? She went from being a baby to a little kid in like, one episode.

The bad guys are cartoon characters and the story lines go nowhere. That's what's killing the series.

I think that's what's been bothering me this season. Negan is a cartoon character. 50 people shooting at his truck while he flips them the bird as he drives out of Alexandria...not one bullet grazes him. All of the other villains have been in the same fallible situation that Rick has been in.

I'm cutting his character some slack now that we have gotten to see his organizational logic behind the Saviors, but he is way too comic booky as an individual character for my tastes. And then they threw in the garbage people, who were even more unbelievable. I mean, even the Termites were a better villainous group.

But, I'm invested, and they still do a good job of making scenes intense, so overall I'm still enjoying the show. And they still have a lot of angles they can pursue, like finding a cure. iirc the head honcos said they'd keep the show going for as long as there was interest.

This is what happens when you have to keep ratcheting up the bad guys. I also think a lot of why Negan is the way he is, is because the Gov didn't land like Kirkland wanted. He was supposed to be the original over the top crazy guy and instead we got the "I'll do what I have to, including create a logical(ish) reason why I have heads in a tank that I stare at. Now we have the over the top crazy guy, but he's also funny(ish) to boot! As far as the car driving thing, it somehow wasn't the stupidest thing in that episode.

From reading the book I thought Neegan was a fantastic portrayal the whole way through as the star of WD at the moment. He really plays the character well and adds his own quirks as well. Was also surprised how close they kept to the Survivors/Neegan and Kingdom, apart from how long until they finally meet Neegan.

The garbage people was fucking stupid though.

They did finally let us in as to why the garbage people talk like neanderthals though, so at least now it makes more sense from a self preservation aspect.

I missed that. I'd be very interested to hear the reason they gave.

It's a psychological thing. They omit adverbs, pronouns, etc, anything that conveys emotion, or could be interpreted as anything other than what it is. The explanation was practically just one line in the last episode that could easily have been missed. Basically though, they talk like that on purpose and it is meant to play with people's heads and give them the upper hand.

Thank you. I don't remember that but even an explanation doesn't help. They're the worst.

Hmmm. Thanks for pointing that out. I'm not sure I buy that as a plausible explanation though. I would think that with it being the zombie apocalypse and all they might have more important things to worry about than the impression they give outsiders. Besides, how insular can they really be if they're w/in traveling distance of both Alexandria and the Saviors.

Well it certainly makes more sense than them suddenly regressing to speaking like cavemen in 4 years time. :) Heck at one point I assumed they were all foreigners who got stranded in the US when the outbreak happened, thus the broken english.
