Looks like Rick finally realized it's better to die standing, than live on your knees.

Its not all bad, I think its meant to show that Negan's "only half" deal is a bad one and could break at any time for Kingdom, has broken twice for Hilltop with the stabbing and night zombie attack etc. I like the scene where Rick figuratively gets his balls back when he retrieves his python from Darryl.

It now looks like it may be back on track. But I lost it after seeing Negan & Co. beat up Aaron, disembowel the guy, and shoot Christine (?). Then Christian Serratos takes a shot, and Negan blocks the bullet with his lightsaber and Jedi powers -- oh, I mean his baseball bat... Everyone including Rick continues to cower. It felt like a tease and being trolled by the writers.

The whole season so far and many episodes last season were about the main group getting "owned." What usually happens in these types of stories is the protagonists get beat down then they rise up -- exactly where the story is now. They just dragged it out way too long.

I'm not reading this thread too much because I have to catch up. I will say for all the people saying ratings have slipped, its on its 7th season. Only a handful of shows make it to 7 seasons and only a handful of them manage to grow the whole time.

True. Season 7 is a huge accomplishment. However, if the info on this Wiki is right, they started at 17.03 million in S7E1 and were at ~10.5 million in E6 and E7. S6E6 and E7 were ~13 million. Lowest ratings since season 3.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Walking_Dead_(TV_series)

And I've actually enjoyed the show up to the end of season 6 -- even the post-Prison, Terminus wandering, Glenn death tease, Beth + cops stuff, and had no issue with Andrea. I've had complaints but season 7 thus far has been something else.

Wait until they intro the whispers.

I'm not going to go into this group because I know there are people who haven't read the comics.
then why the fuck do you mention them? that's the second time recently you've done this

Do you guys not realize they are building a bigger group? The season hasn't been disjointed. These are all things happening at the same time and building up to the final confrontation.

Jesus is sooo god dam hot! The only reason why I'm still watching.

The plot is very lame it's obvious Rick will die in the end. Plot like this you see alot in Anime and Koreon dramas, it's sooooo obvious. R.I.P Rick no one gives a shit about you no more!

Have you read the comics? I'm not going to give away the plot. In the comics.

That's all I'm saying. :)
I said 'wow' because you said Negan will be featuring in Season 8. I didn't know that so now I know season 7 he won't die bleh. :)
I have read the comic up to Glen but after I stopped reading because my FAV character died so I don't care no more hehe.

Yea, Jesus is a good looking guy. I find it funny that his beard and hair look great. Even when the world is falling apart.

I occasionally read about the show on IMDB/reddit... Ya, major spoilers due to production, cast, and comic book spoilers. I don't mind that much, more concerned about how it happens.

That only means 8 more episodes. The 2nd half of the season will be Rick uniting his group, Hilltop and the women's group that Tara visited into one unit to take on the Saviors. Hopefully Negan's death is the season ending cliffhanger and he buys it first episode next fall. Whacking his ass might get the ratings back on track, the more of him the less watchable the show is. He's TWD equivalent of Cousin Oliver.

Can't disagree more. Negan is the only reason I'm still watching.

I think they're over doing him a bit, and there have been some moments where either the actor/script/direction just didn't work. I do love the character in regards of you never know how he's going to go, but even that's starting to drag out a bit. It's the biggest issue this show has. It never knows when enough is enough.. if anything even remotely works they drag that out to the point where people are tired of it. If the Gov had been a season long, I think Negan would have worked better. As it stands, it's hard not to feel a bit 'been here, done this'.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... I watch TV to be entertained, and Negan to me is simply entertaining.

Is he guilty of overacting? Yes. Are all of these situations plausible and realistic? No, but then again this is a show about a zombie apocalypse that has had far less plausible shit happen in the past.

In the end, I'd rather have an entertaining, overacting character than the boring bullshit I've seen for the past couple seasons. I haven't given a shit about anybody in Alexandria, or really any of the more recent characters. That episode recently where Tara finds that community of women? For a good chunk of that episode she's with the dude with dreadlocks. I say "the dude with dreadlocks" because that's all I remember about him. I don't remember his name, and can't think of anything memorable about him, and that's how the vast majority of the new characters have been developed. The only new character I regularly remember and would even care about dying is Jesus.

I sure as shit remember Negan though. He's the living embodiment of how a dictator can rise to power in bad times. Eventually every dictator oversteps his bounds and causes pushback, and we're going to see that soon enough. I'm just trying to enjoy the ride.

Again, I had to look up the IMDB episode list... Saviors first showed up in S6E6 then returned in S6E9 "permanently." S6E15 was when Glenn got captured, the finale was S6E16. That's 9 episodes last season focused on them. I'd say the last two showed us they were a big, dangerous, and vicious group.

This season, I enjoyed S7E2 with King Ezekiel and S7E6, yes, the Tara episode. E1, E3, E4, E5, E7, and E8 were all about how the Saviors were big, dangerous, and vicious. This was well established in S6E16 and bashed into our heads by E1 in an extended episode.

In contrast, the Governor showed up in S3E3 and he was effectively defeated by S3E16 before coming back for a few episodes in season 4. I couldn't wait for the Governor to die but he was interesting. Terminus was awesome: they get captured in a finale and spend an entire hour kicking ass in the following premiere. The Wolves only saw prime-time for a few episodes.

I liken it to Stephen King movies. Some things that get said in books, work in books, but seem way over the top or corny when acted. Since this is a comic, personalities are over the top. They have to be..considering it's just yet another power mad person. I feel the drawn out is just building tension, to make you go...this guy needs to die.

I may have misstated things. I like Negan. I just think that the way they're doing the "never know which way he'll go" psycho a bit too much. I haven't cared much for the other episodes without him in them. That's probably because I don't care about any of the other characters they've focused on. That episode where Tara finds the community was pretty boring to me. This is the downfall of adding more episodes (which I get, just like I get the spin offs. Strike while you can get the money) you end up padding the stuff. I also think they've too many characters at this point and you end up with episodes about people you kinda remember but don't care about. I still think the show has issues when they put roots down anywhere though, the best were when they were wandering trying to find shelter.

People seem to forget that Negan is a friggin comic book villain. He's supposed to be this over the top!
