First of all, this is my first experience with any kind of visco sleeping material. I've never tried tempurpedic anything.
Well, I've slept on my 3" sensus for 2 nights now, and have mixed opinions. Since this was a pillow thread, I'll start by saying the sensus pillow that I purchased with it is not terribly comfortable. The curves are not quite right, and while it is indeed as fluffy as a marshmallow, it nonetheless is hard at the same time: the weight of my head seems evenly distributed and sinks into it nicely(back of skull is cupped when laying on back), but there is an uncomfortable feeling of tight pressure all across the area. Even on the "small" side of the pillow, I feel it has too much height, which raises my shoulders, adding additional weight to my head. Perhaps it would work well with a firm non-visco bed, but the combination of my ass sinking into mattress and head not sinking enough, I'm thinking I may cut it down and see how that works.
As far as the mattress goes, I am happy with my purchase (3" queen topper). It's a bit industrial, as someone else mentioned, but the smell goes away in a couple days, and as far as appearance goes, I was purchasing a "dirt cheap" mattress direct from a factory that also manufactures acoustic foam and automotive padding, so I'm not disappointed on that level. That's why they have mattress pads and sheets.
I have always been an extremely sound sleeper. I set 7 alarms in the morning, and I honestly believe that if there was a fire, I would either sleep right through it, or wake up, see smoke and flames, and roll over and go back to sleep. My mattress is a nice serta something or other, and while it's getting on in years, it probably would be fine for a couple more, but I intend on moving soon, and I thought it would be easier to move a 3" pad that I can roll up and purchase a foam base when I arrive on the other side than lug around a Q size mattress and boxspring. Additionally, if I end up in cramped NY, I can resize my Q to a full with a ginsu knife if need be
The bed is comfortable, although I seem to take longer to fall asleep because I'm thinking too hard about how comfortable it is...
I must admit that while it is comfortable, my initial reaction was "that's it? this is nothing groundbreaking", but I did notice one interesting thing, which is that you can't hit it in an uncomfortable way. No matter how you flop on it, it's comfortable enough that you won't mind staying in that position indefinitely (unless you flop in such a way that your head ends up on the sensus pillow, in which case you struggle for 15 minutes until you realize that the bed is perfectly comfortable without a pillow).
I can't compare with tempur-pedic, although if I get a chance I'll post the results. I'll also try sleeping with the topper just on the boxspring and see what that does (I think I might be sinking just a little too far).

Considering the price is about what a cheap sprung mattress costs though, I figure I'm ahead of the game even if it doesn't quite match up to tempur-pedic (and besides, I wasn't going to drop $1200 on a bed anyway)
