Purchased 2 Sensus Memory Foam PILLOWs from foambymail on ebay on Friday, June 9th (free shipping when you buy 2). They seem to be located about 25 miles away from me, so I'm hoping for quick delivery :) Payed with PayPal. A little unhappy about not being contacted by them yet or getting some kind of shipping notification, but I'll give it a day.

Edit:

Pillows arrived yesterday 6/11 -- wednesday. not too bad.

I ordered the same thing from foambymail and did not receive a reply or shipping notification. I live in Boston and the pillows arrived within three days. I am sure if you email them - or call them - they will respond right away. Their customer service is excellent.

Foambymail answered all my emails. I ordered two Sensus foam pillows over the weekend, then had to pay an extra $10 to get pillow covers, too. Finally got my shipping confirmation today. Hope to have the pillows by early next week.

I just received the two Sensus queen memory pads from foambymail. I ordered them last Wednesday, so it took a week to process the order and ship them to me. I have to say these suckers are HEAVY. If each of them doesnt weigh at least 40 lbs. they dont weigh an ounce. Very high quality, just like the 5.3lb Sensus pillows.

As I was putting them on my bed I made a comparison between these Sensus 5.3lb pads, and the ones I already have. Its really difficult to describe the difference, but the Sensus pad makes them seem like soft styrofoam. Almost as bad as egg crate foam! And to think when I originally received them months ago, I thought they were nice. Amazing what a good product does to your opinion!

I laid down on the pads after I put them on the bed, and they feel wonderful; however, a nights sleep will really tell me how good the pad is. I will sleep on them tonight and give an opinion tomorrow, but I doubt I am going to be disappointed.

oh god, the foambymail pillows i just got are horrible. i am sorry to say that i am totally disappointed. from reading the post, i thought this was the lastest and best pillow deal, but turns out bad.

(edit: btw, i am a stomache sleeper, but b4 i go on my stomache, i usually have to get comfortable on my back & side then i finally go belly down :) )

i bought 2 of these, they came yesterday and are pink. so i immediately took em out of the box, to my surprise they are alot heavier than i thought. so first thing i did was to squeeze them with my lobster claws (my hands) and they immediately felt too soft... so i was sort of surprised and worried that they might be too soft, since i work till midnight i am already ready for bed so i immediately woke my gf up and swapped out both pillows with the existing pillow casing. 2nd thing came to us is that they smelled like some sort of chemical... blah that was "ok" to deal with we thought maybe it'll air out in a day or two. ok, so finally the sleep test. i put my head down and BAM, it felt hard as a rock! i turn it around then up side down, no orientation can make it comfortable. i can feel the curve of the pillow the "S" shape if you will. and totally hating it since it doesn't sink down. my gf finally falls asleep after about 45 min. of commotion. then me toss and turned for another 30 or so min finally slept but i woke up at 5:30 with discomfort and pain in my neck trying to adjust the pillow again. finally i give up and go to my mom's room and got the true tempur-pedic pillow and compare it. NO comparason, it is alot softer and actually shape to your head, but the foambymail pink pillows are too "dense" and does not give.

what do you guys think of shredding the pillow to pieces and rebag it and see if that helps? it is too stiff right now.

Relax, bleuless, and give it another try. You didn't reject that GF of yours after the first date, did you? It may take a little time to adjust to. They are not supposed to be as soft as a regular pillow in the conventional way , but have the advantage of offering support in a way that should be good for your neck. These type of pillows were originally called "cervical pillows" for this reason. Who knows? You may end up liking the pillow more than the GF.

First let me say that its too bad that you dont like the pillows. Apparently any product appeals to all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, and some people not at any time. Second, you probably did not read much of the last couple of pages because some of your objections have been stated. Yes, they are pink, but it is like a pink hue not some "heavy" color pink. Yes, they do have a slight odor but that will go away within a few days. These points have been thoroughly covered in this thread.

What density pillow did you buy? Was it the 5.3lb density? If you did get the 5.3lb density and you think the pillow is too hard I dont know what to think. You said that your Tempurpedic pillow is softer? IMHO it must be like oatmeal then.

I dont have an opinion about shredding the pillow, but I think it would be a bad long-term solution. As Sesopedalian suggested, continue to try them for the next few days - you may be surprised to find that you change your mind. Then again - maybe not!. If you find after a week or so that you still dont like them, I am sure you can find someone that will. Its too bad I already own the 5.3lb density pillows, otherwise I would make you an offer for them.

Good luck whatever you decide!

Now a brief update about the Sensus 5.3lb density queen mattress pads I bought from foambymail.

After a night's sleep, I found them to be awesome - so much better than the other 1 1/2" and 2" pads I have. They are soft, yet firm with just the right about of "give" to them. I have one particular sore spot on the side of my hip but it did not bother me at all the whole night. Usually if I wake up during the night I have to turn to my other side because of the discomfort . Not last night!

This Sensus material is great stuff - for most of us methinks!:Q

I was browsing in Walgreens the other day and found they have a couple of memory foam pillows. The contour cloud and a different one. The contour cloud is about $20 with a cover, the other was on sale for $15. Between the two, the cheaper pillow was much denser and finer memory foam so I tried it first. Squeeze it and it seems like it would be great, but when I tried sleeping on it, my experience was like bleuless's It was hard as a rock and I didn't sleep worth a flip. I took it back and exchanged it for the countour cloud pillow. Better but I still dont know if it was better enough to be worth the extra money. The memory foam on the contour cloud is only an inch or so thick but at least it compresses somewhat under my head, something I don't think the other pillow did.

Does anybody know how this memory pillow is like? From Macy's Also this might sound like a stupid question but those mattress pads that go on top of a mattress with those bumps all over them. Are they suppost to face up or down? The bumps that is.

From what I have read in this thread the Macy's pillows are supposed to be pretty good. Having said that, I believe you can do a lot better in price if you buy a different brand. I think Atrac (the guy who started this thread) said that the Macy's pillow is the same as the ComfortZone pillow (both made by the Carpenter Company) - which can be found at SmartBargains for about $25.

Lately there has been a lot of interest generated by a new foam pillow that is made by Sensus that is supposed to be excellent quality and compares very favorably to the Tempurpedic brand of pillows and mattress toppers. These pillows can be bought on eGay through "foambymail" at a cost of $29 apiece for a queen size pillow, and if you buy two of them the shipping is free. They also sell mattress toppers made by Sensus at very competitive prices.

As far as the mattress toppers with "bumps" is concerned, I think they are designed to be used face up but I really dont know if it makes any difference. There are probably two reasons that they make these with the bumps: (1) various areas of the pad which is designed to be more or less supportive, and (2) to increase the air circulation on the surface of the pad. If I didnt like the feel of the bumps I would definitely turn it over to the flat side.

I hope this helps!

I saw your comments about the visco pillows you purchased and have been rather dissatisfed with the quality. Not all visco (memory foam) is the same and desity certainly has nothing to do with what makes visco special or good quality. I would love to send you some visco pillows to try. I am Dan Schecter Vice Presdient Sales and Marketing - and my company makes Isotonic and many other visco products. My email addrss is dan.schecter@carpenter.com. Drop me a line and tell mw where to send the pillows I bet we can find one that is right for you -

I've had the Novaform for about a week now and I love it. It's amazing how bad my sleeping posture was before using this pillow.

Question for Atrac, do you happen to have a picture of your pillow collection, it would be interesting to see :)

First of all ? apparently, chewing and shredding one of those Sensus pillows can give your dog diarrhea for a day. :D

Second ? this is my first contoured foam pillow and I find it takes some getting used to. For one I?m not sure whether the higher curved part goes under my neck or the lower curved one. I tried it both ways and can?t quite decide what is better: with the lower curve under my neck it feels a tad better except the top of my head pushes against the higher curve ?which is not too comfy. On the other hand if I place the higher curve under my neck ? it seems to lead to me waking up with it sore. Hmm?

I have read that it takes your body a few days to adjust to these new pillows. Apparently your muscles are accustomed to your other pillows and many times will have a small reaction to the new ones. Hang in there, it will definitely be better in a few days.

As far as which "end" to use on the pillows is strictly a matter of choice - which end is most comfortable for you? Some people prefer not to use the contoured side of the pillow and flip it over using the flat side. Another matter of choice. Try it using all the different ways and you will find the one right for you!!

I have had the Sensus queen sized pillow for a few nights now. First thing I have to say is that it is NOT similar to a tempur pedic. I went and checked out the tempur pedic today at brookstrone and they are way softer, my head actually sinks into the pillow. With the Sensus, my head just sorta sits on top of the foam. That being said, the pillow is not that bad. I have been using the flat side since I sleep on my stomach and that is the only position I have found it to be comfortable in. The material feels really good to the touch, as in it feels soft and as if it would conform to your head when you layed down but it does not seem to have that effect. I will try it out for a few more days then maybe go back to my old pillow and see which one I prefer. Will let you guys know.

Wow this thread is still alive! I used to check this thread daily when I was in the market for a memory foam bed. Learned lots here.

Speaking of which, there is something NO ONE ever talks about when buying a mattress. Com'on now, a bed has two functions. One is the sleeping... the other... well... you know... is sex. I am serious. I am probably one of the few people that actually sent back the Tempurpedic bed because of that. You know that lovely sinking in feeling that makes it so comfy to sleep on. Let me tell you, it is terrible for the love making. Your arms, elbows, and knees just dip into the foam and it absorbs all the shock. Makes you almost miss a coil springs.

Anyway, I eventually found an ideal solution. Put a Isotonic mattress topper (the 2 inch / 4 pound density ones made by the Carpenter Company) over the cheapest model of a Select Comfort bed. You can adjust it as necessary and air has a little "spring" in it for um... well... you know.

Listen, I know someone is going to flame me, but how good a bed is for sex should be a consideration, I mean you gotta have sex sometimes, right? :clock:

This is true and you do have a very good point. I kind of wondered how good these foam beds were for sex. Anybody else care to share their experiences?
