john333, I just checked the price at www.isoform.com. Your classic model now sells for $999. So, you definitely got a great deal. Wish they carry the same deal now.

I prefer a firm mattress. I hope the Novafoam unit will provide sufficient & durable back support. Heck, with Costco's waranty, I can always return it to the local B&M if it doesn't work out.

and mattress updates?

I have had my sensus mattress for about 6 months now and i must say i am not the biggest fan of foam now. It gets really really hot and it seems to be broken in at the part i lay on the most. Making anywhere else uncofortable. I knew this was a risk buying a foam bed and heard/read alot of complants. About temperpedic and all other brands. I wouldnt recommend a foam matteress. Pretty comfortable in my "spot" but if we dont run the crap out of the AC then i am sweating and it sucks

Also it seems this wont last more then a few years 2 or 3 maybe

Good quality foam should definitly last better than that - maybe you have a bad one :(

I've not really noticed any heat difference, but I've always been able to throw off my covers in my sleep if I got too hot, so probably not the best person to ask. My wife also hasn't noticed a problem, but the extra heat is definitly something that gets mentioned in relation to memory foam - I was a little worried about it before we got our mattress (I researched the hell out of it like your classic anandtech geek), but it hasn't proven to be a problem for us.

With the kit I got, since the memory foam section is not bonded (i.e. glued) to the base, I could always switch it around to one of the four possible positions to even out wear - haven't felt the need to yet though. I guess I could even swap it for another top section if it got really worm out. The memory foam sticks well enough to the base foam with friction alone not to need glue.

Phuje: Thanks for the heads up on the Costco deal. I may finally jump on this, with Costco's no hastle return policy I know I am covered. Now if I get this mattress I'll have to let you all know how it turned out.

metapy, Costco also have the Novafoam Elite model at their stores. 3" 4lbs density + 9" foam. $500+tax for a queen.

Airjarhead, noticed that Costco have a coupon for $8 off on Novaform Elite Contour Pillows (2-pack)

Bergad Co. - Isoform Brand

They throw in the pillows for free if you buy a mattress.

Bought mattress and two pillows about a year and a half ago and have been completely satisfied. The prices are pretty low...not the lowest, but you get what you pay for. Their foam density is rated at 5.5 lbs, which is what I think Tempurpedic uses if I'm can recall. Thats the highest rated foam density I could find for the price.

You can buy the separate viscoelastic layer and urethane bottom "box spring" layer separately/unbonded if youre on a budget, though I don't know if they throw in the pillows on that.

They claim to actually manufacture the foam and market/sell it directly, hence high foam density at a lower price.

When I got my mattress kit from Bergad (see my other posts in the thread, pages 25/26), there were no free pillows - aka the cheap option indeed.

This thread is starting to look like an advert for Bergad :)

Thanks

Definitly a matter of taste - I have a fairly thick memory foam pillow (maybe 5" or so) because I generally sleep on my side, but if you sleep on your back more, then a thinner one would probably be better.

I definitely do not like the 100% memory foam pillows. I prefer the ones that have some polyester fill surrounds. You can get good ones at Walmart/Sams.

Like John says, thickness is personal preference. I like a thin pillow, being a back sleeper.

Looking for a good 3" memory foam mattress. What's the price range? where can I order? What brands are good? I want a firm one. I believe I should go for one with at least 5lb density.

man of few words. Member since 2001 and 15 posts lol. Bergad, long ago, stated on their website that their beds were 5.5lb. Now, it seems that they took that information off of their website and states a 5lb density. Tempur-pedic has a 5.3lb density. So either they changed the information or they had to cut costs by manufacturing cheaper less dense beds. Even more, they used to only offer 3 types of beds. Now they offer 5. They also took the information of how thick the foam is on the cheapest bed off of their website.
