My order of two 2" Sensus 5.3lb memory foam toppers and four 5.3 lb foam pillows from Foambymail came in last week. The two toppers and four pillows were amazingly rolled up into a decently small package. It was about three feet by a foot in width and I was quite sure they forgot to ship something until I tried to pick it up. It had to weigh 75 pounds easily. The package was beat to all hel and back, but the contents were in fine shape.

It was a real pain to get the stuff out since it was vacuumed packed and all the foam had to be peeled apart carefully. But after 20 minutes I had it all laid out on the floor and ready to go on the bed.

The key here is that my parents had a 2" topper from isotonic that they never used so now I have 6" of faom. The isotonic is crap compared to the Sensus 5.3lb but i figured it would do just fine as a base for the other two.

I laid it all on my brand new serta queen size frim mattress and threw a sheet on it for quick test lay. Initial thoughts were that it felt like quick sand. But after laying on my back for 20 minutes I didn't want to move. I toss and turn like crazy and for me to go more than 3 minutes without turning is amazing.

I didn't sleep on it and I'm not sure how I will like the pillows becasue they seem quite firm compared ro a regular pillow. I wll be sleeping on it the whole setup later this week after I buy sheets that fit it and after it airs out a bit.

They have much to recommend them, but they are not perfect.

I've not yet bought a foam mattress, but based on a few minutes in a few stores, I am pretty sure I will like one with far fewer reservations than I have had about pillows. I am not bug on the contour shape, and most of em are mighty thin for a side sleeper. I stack two, but they don't always stay together as well I as I would like.

I have the sensus pillows and feel the same way about them. The pads are a totally different story; they're awesome. I'm a side sleeper and I have a 2" pad - it works great (I'm also only 140lbs). If you like the quality of the sensus, get that as a mattress pad, you won't have the same problems as you do with the pillows.

Don't remember seeing this posted but then again, there's a LOT on this thread :)

BJs Wholesale Club has the Sealy Posturepedic Accustom memory foam pillow on sale this week. There's a coupon (usually available at the door) for $7 off the regular $30 price. The pilow measures 15x24 inches and the box has the obligatory handprint-in-foam picture that, of course, you can't reproduce :) It is made by Natural Sleep Products of Wayne NE. This is no Tempurpedic, but after just one night on it, it was nice to wake up without a single kink in my neck - first time in a VERY long time. Well worth the $23 I spent on it.

You beat me to it. :) I just bought one of this myself today. In my BJ the pillow is actually $27 and I use the $7 coupon to make it $20+tax. I'll sleep on it tonite and let you guys know whats up. I had bought the Costco NovaFoam pillow for about $30 and I have to admit its not that great. Its higher then the BJs one and its kinda hard. I am planning on getting the the Sensus 5.3" 2" topper next.

The pink is the sensus. It is the one with the 5.3lb density. View their auctions and tell tehm you want to buy one of off there, they will give you it at their buy it now price on ebay, instead of their web site price.

I ordered the 3" Sensus pad as an early anniversary present for my wife and me. Needless to say, it went over very well, my wife loves it. I'm very impressed with it as well. I sleep more comfortably now than I ever have, and it goes very well with our Tempurpedic pillows.

Hey all,

I stopped by a Sharper Image the other day, and was about to buy one of their foam pillows, but an employee told me that the end of September, the pllows were all going half price, so I decided to wait it out. Hope this is a true bit of info!

I ran across this thread today while looking for information on Visco Elastic pillows. It has been very helpful, thanks Atrac. I acquired a Sensora Restonic foam mattress in a trade with a dealer about two weeks ago. It uses a 2" Sensus 5.0 lb foam as the top layer. Though it is much better than our previous (expensive) mattress, I think it could use more of the memory foam. My brother bought two of the NovaForm Elite 2" toppers from Costco (Atrac, have you joined yet?) and uses them together, he likes them. I just ordered a Sensus 2" topper and a "Perfect Pillow" from Mark's 1/2 Price Bedding. The pillow was $45, maybe a little more than I could get on eBay but the shipping is free and they have a 100% 60 day satisfaction guarantee. Also the Sensus 2" topper was $186.85 (free shipping), this is one of the lowest prices I have found on the Sensus products. I will let you know how this works out.

My bad ! It was $27, not $30. Somehow I read "26.99" as "29.99". Now that I've used it a few more nights, I'm happy to say that it's still quite comfortable. The humidity here in MA has been pretty bad the past week+ and if there's one drawback to the foam pillow, it's that it feels warmer than my old down pillow.

Picked up my first memory foam pillow this weekend at JCPenney. $39.99 ($60 normally) for their "Countour Pillow" (Had initially gone in for the "Perfect Pillow")

My wife and I have both given it a night's sleep. No real opinions yet. Figure I'll try to line up one of the other pillows (We got a gift certificate to Linens n' Things for the wedding... might use it for something like this) and compare a bit.

Really wondering if a foam topper wouldn't be a good investment. For the last 5-10 years, if I sleep too long I'll wake up and my lower back hurts. I can get around it buy using multiple pillows. (One between my legs, one under the lower back, one under the head and hugging a body pillow.... side sleeper).

Certainly worked for me. I think you'd be pleased. No more aches and pains! But if your underlying mattrees sags the effect will be lessened.

Hey ATRAC,

I was very interested on buying the pillow, I tried to read all the threads but I gave up on the 7th page.
I don't know how many pages are there for this thread!

You might want to sum up / do a conclusion, sort of like a test result matrix between the pillow brands - price - where to get
That would HELP ME a lot, thanks. :)

I'll watch some that's on ebay, but I'm really interested with the 25$ from Costco

Cheers!

Many people have flipped the pillow over onto its "flat" side, and have been happy using it that way. This should apply to all the pillows with the hump for the neck.

Do the sensus mattress pads have to be placed on top of your mattress? Do you think I could get away with the 4" topper being on top of my box spring? My matress has a sag in it...

I think this idea has gotten mixed reviews, but personally, I dont see any reason why this wouldnt work and be just as comfortable as using a mattress for the base.

Many others have bought a foam-type mattress (not memory foam) which is a stiffer type of foam that is made especially for this purpose. Check your local yellow pages and see if any companies in your area make these type of foam mattresses if the box spring doesnt work. I think you can also find these types of foam mattress foundations at JC Penney.

Good luck!

I used the 3" sensus right on the boxspring for a couple of weeks. It was relatively comfortable, but not as comfortable as with a mattress. I'd be more concerned about what it will do to the boxspring - mine started making all kinds of noise. Also noticed the sensus tearing in some places on the bottom - not sure if that had anything to do with it.

As a side note it would be interesting to do some deflection tests on the inside and outside of the mattress(where it has/hasn't been slept on). It's probably all in my head, but I'd swear it's getting softer in the middle. Thinking back on the warranty/guarantee, it only covers visible sag, not sag under load. Hmm

This is what I have on top of my boxspring Here

Then the memory foam on top of that. Works perfectly, and similiar to how an expensive memory foam mattress is constructed.
