Water already freaks me out in games, so I don't need slaughterfish underwater that I'm completely defenseless against. Every time I find myself near water I spam the shit out of my detect life spell. The last thing I need is to suddenly get attacked while swimming underwater when I'm already stressing out.
I've seen a couple of spots that I would like to go underwater but didn't because they were surrounded by slaughterfish and I just can't get myself to go in the water if they are there.
What I need is a mod that gets rid of slaughterfish, or at least swaps them with something like that spider->bear mod.
Do you have some sort of fish phobia? Slaughterfish don't actually hurt that much (this is coming from a cloth wearing mage that never uses protective magics). You have more than enough time to get yourself up on land, at which point the situation is reversed. You can kill them, and they can't attack you. Mudcrabs rarely attack you underwater, and when they do you are often mere steps from land.
Really don't know why several people are so upset about not being able to attack underwater. I mean, it makes sense not being able to use weapons while submerged. Go try to throw a punch while swimming - now try unsheathing and swinging even a dagger, much less a large two-handed weapon or a one-handed/shield combo. Considering the types of magic in this game, for the most part spells would be useless as well. Fire? The problems here should be obvious. Ice? You are attempting to shoot a temperature sensitive projectile through water - it won't go anywhere fast, and is going to melt quickly. Lightning? Sure, I suppose you should be able to use this spell underwater, but it should discharge in an aoe effect immediately, centered on you. It will hurt you a hell of a lot more than the slaughterfish heading towards you. You don't want to create lightning underwater.
