Is Skyrim worth playing ? This will be my first time.

Absolutely. Not as much of a classic as Baldurs Gate or Morrowind, but still well worth playing. Especially with mods.

If you do plan on getting it, get the Legendary Edition as you will get Special Edition free when its released.

You can play with or without mods, but the minimum recommended mods I would say to get are the unofficial patches as they fix stuff that bethesda missed
