You will reshape the political map of Skyrim. Stormcloaks won't be very fond of you ;) You won't be meeting them often afterwards though...

They are one of the fiercer enemies. But yes, they do get easier to kill once your character can dish out more damage. An assassin can one-shot pretty much anything from sneak (hello x30 dagger damage :awe:). A heavy armor warrior will shrug off the damage (700+ armor and you're a walking tank) and deal loads in return. A mage will grab some tea and observe summons do the work.

Put perks into your favorite weapon skill. It multiplies the damage. Also, I avoided smithing for a while and am sorry I did. Once I started making glass equipment the game got a lot easier. Especially when I turned right around and upgraded my glass swords to Epic. Double damage right there.

Ditto Mages. Put some points into Destruction so you can cast spells cheaper, make your fire spells stronger and also get Dual Casting. Remember with fire you dont have to keep hitting them. Use a short blast, let the enemy burn for a couple seconds then blast them again. Free damage and overall you use less magicka. Also try to find the best robes of Destruction you can get. Makes it even easier. And any rings or amulets or crowns that either help Destruction or magick in general. I have tons of nice stuff and I'm not really playing a mage. But against some enemies I find it good to equip one spell and one weapon.

Someone please tell me there's a way to fight under water? Tried to lead Lydia across a river near Solitude tonight and she got attacked by a crab, and then she aggro'd a fish. I wasn't able to draw a weapon or swing my fists while submerged, and apparently neither was she, since she just lunged around shouting "Now you'll pay!" Every now and then she would get up onto dry land and take a few arrow shots and then dive back in for some synchronized swimming. After about five minutes of this she managed to kill or drive off her assailants and then joined me on the far bank... but wtf? We can't fight under water? That has to be wrong, doesn't it? We've been able to fight under water since Morrowind. Stuff can attack you under water. You have to be able to fight it.

What difficulties are you guys playing at? Eventually for my Mage adept just became way too easy and I'm at expert now. Seems tougher so far but as long as I don't get hit and stand back I still win pretty easily.

I don't think you can. I've actually come to avoid water and high places with Lydia in tow, as she has a tendency to jump off of cliffs or drown herself. She also likes to run in front of my shouts. I really wish you could make your companion/follower stop and not engage, even if you are being attacked. She also likes to run out and aggro people who aren't even in sight, sometimes. blah.

I have learned, though, that shield bash is pure win. I actually had to search wiki to figure out how to use it--didn't know that I wasn't using it before, heh. First time I actually got to try it, after learning about it, I was attacked by a Blood Dragon. Those battles used to take me 10 or more minutes. This one was under 2 minutes after bashing it to death. Rather un-epic. :\

If you really wanna level fast go find that Lovers Stone and get the blessing. All your skills increase faster.
Then, set difficulty to High.

Water already freaks me out in games, so I don't need slaughterfish underwater that I'm completely defenseless against. Every time I find myself near water I spam the shit out of my detect life spell. The last thing I need is to suddenly get attacked while swimming underwater when I'm already stressing out.

I've seen a couple of spots that I would like to go underwater but didn't because they were surrounded by slaughterfish and I just can't get myself to go in the water if they are there.

What I need is a mod that gets rid of slaughterfish, or at least swaps them with something like that spider->bear mod.

I'm amazed that we can't fight under water. What the hell? I mean, I love the game, and it's pretty and has great music, but taking away a core mechanic that's been in the game since Morrowind is lame. And leaving in creatures that can attack you underwater even though you can't fight back is retarded. Very disappointing.

I assume then that we won't find any underwater dungeons or caves along the coast, or flooded portions of dungeons inland? Man, exploring flooded areas with a waterbreathing spell was one of the coolest/eeriest aspects of Morrowind and Oblivion. Maybe that's why I haven't found any sewers in this game so far.

Don't you have to join the Stormcloaks?

Many of the house quests can be broken. As can many of the guilds.

I think it's more important to put points into Enchanting than any other non-fighting skill you're focusing on. Once I got enchanting, well holy shit. I have dual enchantments on everything, and have turned my fighter into a mage with no perk increases or magicka >100. Well, he can cast spells to level magic skills, but his damage is jackshit garbage.

That depends. What kind of resources would I need to get immunity to disease, poison, paralysis, fire, ice and thunder?
Seems to me it would be easier to just play the damn game and not waste so much time digging up all the spells and items I'd need.

Heck in Oblivion and Morrowind I didnt even bother with that nonsense. It was much easier to make the items in the Construction Kit and stick them someplace in the game world.

But it's FUN to make your own armor and weapons :p Besides you can make some pretty powerful stuff.

Oh, forgot to tell you guys. Had my first crash to desktop at 41 hours. Not to freakin bad considering how many complaints I've heard.
No other glitches with the engine. None at all.
Shame the quests are so messed up.

I got bored so added mods... Now have a battalion comprised of fire wizards, a Master necromancer, some spell casting bandits and various forsworn in tow.
Would be so much better if they didn't like killing each other so much... that and if they actually avoided those stupid swinging spiked door traps.

Where can I store stuff? I'm level 13 and have about 12k gold. Do I need to buy a house? By this time in Oblivion I would have found a place, but I haven't come across any opportunities to snag a hideout lawfully.
