You guys might enjoy this site. It basically scans your armory profile and then gives you recommendations on what to change about your character in order to optimize it for PvE. Mostly, it is just for fun. I wouldn't take it too seriously but give it a try anyways.

IMBA

Site Watch: "Be Imba!" Character Auditor

Be Imba's goal is to guide World of Warcraft players to maximize their PvE effectiveness. The selected checks and advisories help to identify common pitfalls and mistakes whether they are talent or gear related.

The tips given by this site should be used as hints and not as PvE tuning rules for improving your character.

It's using the Armory to run several checks on your character.
The checks include:
* Talent build checks seeking for left out vital talents or overrated talents.
* Gear check for unenchanted or misenchanted items.
* Gear check for ungemmed items or items gemmed improperly.
* Stats checks for DPS and Tank characters.

Our advice is to use this site together with Warcrafter to help you customize your PvE character.

I ran that site on my shaman and they don't coincide with Elitist Jerk's theorycrafting. I threw my Shaman in because he has a good PVE build (2/45/14) but his gear is old and junky. The said I need 226 +hit to cap, but EJ recommends that you do not hit cap and only get around 140 (and also get the +hit talents of course).

Interestingly enough, they also called my Stalker's Helm of Second Sight "low level", which is a bit off as the helm is quite good. They did not complain about my Desolation gloves though. They also remarked about me ignoring a socket bonus. No shit sherlock, I'm not going to worry about a +2/mp5 bonus as an Enhancement Shaman!

I'm going to look up my much better geared priest now....

The priest seems alright for this so far. Although they complained that I put +mp5 on my bracers (note that these are my old tier 1 bracers that I'm too lazy to replace right now and there was no +healing to bracers at that time). They also complained that I ignored all of the +intellect socket bonuses in the tailoring gear, which it's much better to hit up the +healing IMO.

They listed me as Karazhan ready and slightly above heroics. I roughly agree, but even Karazhan has few true upgrades for me in every slot. I've also ignored enchants at this point as I want to enchant them myself, but my enchanting is only 325 :(.

Two screenshots for you (I hope imageshack isn't blocked). One shows most of the results and the other shows you your raw gear score which is less important but it's there.

In response to Aikouka's post, all I have to say is to remember not to take it too seriously. You need to use your best judgment when it comes to this stuff even when you are referencing advise from EJ. When it comes to PvE, a lot of people forget that there are some nitty gritty details about each player and each guild which can slightly change what is truly best for you. Numbers define a lot in this game, but they do not define everything.

based off Xavs post below he gear is MH/BT ready, we have rogues in our guild that dont have any T5 at all just T4 and badge loot, maybe a random off set epic and they either top or finish in the top 5 in terms of damage and DPS on most fights, useing SSC weps or S2 weps

I wonder if their idea of low level is simply just item level based rather than the item's worth itself. I mean, I could get an epic that has a high item level but isn't geared as well for an enhancement shaman (has mp5, etc).

Something completely unrelated... do you hate it when people use terms incorrectly when talking to them about WoW? Someone I know will talk about 'er priest and say that she "curses" people. Now, I used to be a shadow priest and I am quite sure that priests have no curses :p (although I believe Vampiric Embrace used to be a curse). I never say it, but I really want to just say, "PRIESTS DON'T HAVE CURSES!!! IT'S SHADOW WORD: PAIN!!"

awesome, thanks much Xavier and invidia!

I think I _will_ take this with a grain of salt. I cant decide what i want to do with my two low quality gems... they need to fill a blue socket. I was originally planning on running the heroic for the agi+str. but i think I'll just get the rare blue gems agi+sta. I can always use more health for content pushing, seeing how i have to stop attacking lately due to aggro gains on the tanks.

In regards to gems, just remember that epic quality gems will be available once 2.4 is released for 15 badges per gem.

Refer to mmo-champion. The way that it is going to work is that the badge vendor in the new towns will be selling all of the new rewards. Those rewards include the raw epic gems which are required to cut the epic quality gems from the designs which are obtained in Hyjal/BT. These purchasable raw gems are not BOP if my information is accurate. Therefore, you can purchase these raw gems using your badges and find a JC with the designs to cut them for you.

However, here is the million dollar question that I would appreciate an answer from you guys. We all know that attunement for Hyjal/BT is being removed. However, that attunement process for Hyjal includes increasing your reputation with the Scale of the Sands faction to friendly once you complete the Vials of Eternity quest (attunement). The vendor for the epic JC designs is accessible through the Hyjal instance without having to kill anything. However, you can only begin purchasing those designs if your rep with Scale of the Sands is friendly. The question I have is the following:

Does the removal of the Hyjal/BT attunement mean that there will be an easy way to increase everyone's reputation with the Scale of the Sands faction to friendly or will people need to fight in Hyjal in order to move from neutral -> friendly? If they need to fight then that means the JC vendor will not sell to anyone who isn't ready for Hyjal despite the removal of attunement. This would retain some of the value of the designs since not everyone will have them as soon as 2.4 hits. Regardless, some of the best cut gems require a rep with the Scale of the Sands faction that is higher than friendly so the JCs who are actually doing Hyjal/BT will still be at an advantage. Not to mention that many designs are limited as drops instead of purchases as well.

All epic JC patterns for these gems iirc will be available thru the new reputation Shattered Sun Offensive or whatever. You can buy these patterns at friendly for varied costs or something, like 47.5 gold at friendly.

Pretty sure SSO will have plenty of dailies as well to rep up quickly.

Wait...so the JC vendor within the Hyjal instance will no longer be the only vendor which sells those designs? You are saying that Shattered Sun Offensive vendor will sell all of the same designs that the Hyjal vendor sells?

I believe I have read the same thing. I think they require quite the high rep though. I know I saw some at exalted.

EDIT:

If you can view WoWDB, here are all the patterns that are available for purchase in 2.4 by the Shattered Sun Offensive:

correct, you can get the patterns from the Shatter sun vendor AND /OR the hyjal dude

IIRC most of the good ones are Shattered sun revered or exaulted. + they cost like 50G where the hyjal dude has them for what 9g

They blocked WoWDB here recently :(

Ok, one more question. I am under the impression (correct me if I am mistaken) that the JC designs which drop in Hyjal/BT are not purchasable through the Hyjal vendor. If this is true then does that also mean that those designs are not purchasable through SSO vendor?
