sort of like these forums......if one post is lame, you don`t have to worry about it ruining the rest of the forums.....
Yeah... the last season of Discovery that I watched was like one giant Gizmo thread![]()
the old star treks had ~25 episodes per season.2. I don't like the continuous, serialized format.
(So far, S1 and S2) There are no breaks, there are no interesting side missions. No interesting mysteries. It's just go go go hurdling towards the monster of the season.
Where are the trippy spacetime anomalies? Time travel? Lost memory mysteries? Unique new alien encounters? Q punking the capt? Even a fun, change of pace holodeck episode?
Star Trek is supposed to be about exploration, new frontiers, new civs... Do some of that. There is no mystery what the next episode(s) will be about.
Leads to missed opportunities for character development too.
Who the F is the robot chick? It's season 2, she's on the bridge, I have no idea WTF you are! I know more about Data's cat than a routine bridge member.
Lots of time spent in wardrobe for a throw away redshirt.

discovery and Picard have 10.
wished it was also 25 so they can have a story arc plus some fluff in between those arc episodes.
Picard Season 2 turned out to be alright and I'm hoping that SNW will not disappoint either.
SNW episode one is the bomb and makes me feel good about Trek again.I just finished the second season. I loved it. Bring on SNW!
I hope to see it today. I loved Pike in STD, and can't wait to see what adventures awaits.SNW episode one is the bomb and makes me feel good about Trek again.
I like it a lot, but honestly, it's largely due to nostalgia. Taking it on it's own, without any back history, I doubt I'd bother. I think Stewart does fine. He sounds old cause he is old, and he's playing old. It's a perfect match for the character.

I like Tilly, but thinks she needs more screen time. STD had a few episodes I didn't care for, but I still enjoy the show. I'm going into SNW with an open mind, preying that I won't be disappointed.I completely agree about Picard.... if it wasn't for Patrick Stewart I wouldn't watch it especially with the ULTRA-lazy plot of season 2.
It's a sad mish-mash of several old TOS episodes and one of the movies forced together in a process that makes very little sense ESPECIALLY considering how many 10's of THOUSANDS of original sci-fi stories there are out there to potentially adapt!
Pike leaving Discovery was when it started really "tanking" IMO.
In retrospect I also sorta liked Tilly (yeah I was the one!)
SNW = last chance for me to keep paying $10.99 per month for Paramount+ (no ads) for any Star Trek series.... I hope it turns out to be good but my expectations are low.

Strange New Worlds is the new series that shows the enterprise under captain Pike with Spock as science ofc, Una as first officer, nurse Chapel, and dr M'benga (characters from the original series). What is SNW?

So #1 finally has a name?Strange New Worlds is the new series that shows the enterprise under captain Pike with Spock as science ofc, Una as first officer, nurse Chapel, and dr M'benga (characters from the original series).
What's going on here? Why are people discussing SNW like it just released? First episode was in May 2022!
Premiere episode was good. Wonder how the rest of the cast get brought into the storyline.
Agreed on both accounts. Only thing that annoyed me was the pump action phaser. The design of everything there, esp the audible out of charge warning was cringePremiere episode was good. Wonder how the rest of the cast get brought into the storyline.
