It wasn't that bad, but besides games will sacrifice canon for play balance.

Minbari were unbeatable by anyone other than the Shadows/Vorlon type races.

Sacrificing canon however for place balance completely defeats the purpose of wanting to play that universe. So I always hate it when developers do that. :\

I'm still sad the B5 space sim got cancelled, I remember playing a demo or tech demo a decade or more ago.

The Kickstarter has passed 500K, clearing the bar for the Kickstarter funds to be kept. It looks like this is really happening.

So I just started watching Battlestar Gallactica (the mini series) and the shot of the hangar was exactly like in the trailer for this game. Nearly gave me goosebumps lol.

I'm watching the whole series through for the second time, and I noticed the same thing. The remake of BSG was just about the best space opera series ever... with perhaps a nod to Firefly, which was killed way too young.

BSG was decent, but watching it on TV was really lame, because nearly 25% of the episode was a recap from the last one. It felt like everything was a recap and the only 'new' content was a few minutes each episode. I really didn't like that.

Babylon 5 was the best, period. Second would probably go to DS9. BSG isn't #1 by any stretch, IMO. Still a great show, along with Farscape and some others.

Try like 2-3 minutes (including title) to 40 minutes. Babylon 5 was an awesome show, but I'd rate it roughly equivalent to BS:G. DS9 is blah.

I felt that way about DS9 when it initially came out and most of the times when I would catch a random episode. But a few years later I caught a marathon and really started liking it.

Guys lets not forget how Babalon 5 completely fell apart on its last season and completely failed with the odd suggested Rangers spin off.
Why do great shows do this....BSG did it with Caprica, it could have been real cool but instead complicated slow moving plot= not exciting.

Babylon 5 ended before the last season. It was made from the start to tell a particular story and they really should have officially ended it once they were done, but they tried to keep it going.

It fell apart because they lost funding and the story was essentially over. Yes, it was originally designed for 5 seasons, but going into the 4th season (before it was written), the network that was airing it, PTEN, was falling apart, and Warner Bros (the parent company), was not saying one way or the other if PTEN would exist after that year or not. Due to that uncertainty, the main creator of the series, J. Michael Straczynski, decided he didn't want to leave the fans hanging right at the final climax of the years of build-up to the final war, and instead essentially finished the series early in case the network no longer existed and Warner Bros dropped the series with the failed network. The 5th season is essentially some minor cleanup that was going to originally just happen in just a couple episodes, but was stretched into an entire season (and which is why the last season was really not that good). It also didn't help that J. Michael Straczynski wrote entirely by himself the 3rd and 4th seasons, but did not write a single episode in the final season other than to give overall guidance (well except for "Sleeping in Light" which he actually filmed and was ready to show as the season 4 final episode if TNT hadn't come in to take over for PTEN).

I saw that to. Now I hope they reach their goal on the home page. It would be awesome to see this game come to light.

I chipped in for the $125 pledge partly because I have wanted someone to make a game like this since Elite first came out and partly because I think Chris may just pull it off.

Can't wait to see how it develops

I question your sense of time :).

Yeah, I used hyperbole, I just didn't like the recap, because it wasn't a recap from the previous episode, it would include stuff from several episodes before in a seemingly randon fashion. It just didn't seem 'normal' or right to me. I was always bothered by it. I think I know WHY they did it, but i don't think that is a good enough reason. I did enjoy the series, however.

Does anyone know if the DVD's remove the recaps? I'd love to be able to watch the series without them.

As for this thread, I am anxiously awaiting this release.

I just fast-forward through them if I don't want to watch, but I think they probably made a lot more sense when the series was airing one episode at a time. It's not really random. They show a series of vignettes from past episodes that impact on the story in the current episode, then they play the awesome title song, then a series of quick flashes of the episode you're about to see. I actually think it was really well done.
