Come on.. all my programming questions are pushed down faster than someone can say OMGHL3ISOUT

By the time someone replied to it, I've already got it solved (the hard way) :(

How hard is it really, to just add a another forum?

I understand that it might not be a priority, but come on, it wouldn't take all of a minute! :(

Why can't a Doom 3 player and a programmer have the same maturity level? John Carmack proves my point, I think ;)

PS: Don't take me seriously. I agree with the splitting of forums, still I am not a very experienced AnandTech'er.

I think if you want programming spilt your going to need to be more agrisive. I would suggest geting as many people as you can to post like daly programming question and flood the forum.

There is very little traffic regarding programming in the Software forum, which is a low-volume forum as it is. Why would you need it?

It's not that we don't have a lot of programming threads, they're just completely drowned out in the constant banter about World of Warcraft.

Not to mention, quite a few people (like me) just don't bother posting when they know their thread will sink 50 deep within a half-hour anyway.

BTW, bump. :)

I answered a VBA programing question today and it is almost off my front page already.

I can see keeping Applications/Programming together, but for heaven's sake.... split the gaming.

I'm an avid gamer, but I hate having to wade through all the threads.

it's a build it they will come mentality, except in this case the "they" are here. We just don't use the forum because it programming threads get lost in there. There's really no point to post anything useful or try to spark up discussion.

To many gaming related threads smother legit programming/coding problems that get posted.

It is a pain to look through 15-20 threads about the current hot games asking about cheats, bots, crashes, options.

There may be other forums that also have less traffic, but are more focused on the core subject.

That should be why the games need to be split off, to seperate the wheat from the chaff.

What about, instead of a specific forum for "programming", which I can only assume at this point hasn't been created due to the minority percentage of thread traffic in the collective forum to warrant splitting it off on it's own - but what about a "Fun Software", and a "Professional Software" forum split? That wouldn't be so special-interest, but it would keep those with professional software questions (including programming) segregated from the game/entertainment software questions, which are always going to be swamped with new threads on the eve of every new major game release.

It would also provide a clear place for people to come here to AT to ask software-related questions, for things like MS Office, Photoshop, etc., in the same manner as others already do in the numerous hardware-related forums. I really do think that might be a good idea, and in the process make AT a more valuable resource.
