How does is feel when someone tells you that you are going to burn in hell if you are a non believer. Why do most of the religious people try to shove it down everyone's throat.

None of that is happening here. And if it were, I'd be just as upset as you. You cannot justify wrongful actions for the sake of revenge, especially when you target people not associated with someone else's failure.

Why can't we all just get along?

I get along fine with most, It was my personal experience.

You will know if you live in India for long, how Christian Missionaries exploit the poor. They give these people money when they convert to Christianity.. if they are doing service to god.. they should help any one in need.. why should they convert them to their religion and then help them?

In the US.. they attract international students cos they are always short on funds. I hate those people who pretend they believe in god for the sake of money, and I also hate those religious institutions which attract these kind of people.

I already explained my issues with Hinduism in my previous post..

I've got pretty thick skin when it comes to myself. Flame me all you want, I've probably heard it before. But all the hate that goes on around here is just getting out of control.

And now this place is getting flooded with anti-religion posts. I mean there is normally one or two going on but now its all the time. I'm very spiritual but I also realize that not everyone shares my views. That's fine. But why insult things that are Holy to us that are spiritual? Does it somehow make you feel better about yourself? What exactly do you get out of it?

While I do like it here, I don't like being insulted every time I log in.

Listen, I understand what you're saying and check it out. I got 4 22" CRT monitors sitting in my garage. I bet you might feel better if you chucked them at a couple of the users here. There's definitely something satisfying about hitting a fool with an 50lb CRT.

I actually find that a bit interesting. I had a boss a few years ago that moved to the states from India back in the 70's. He was very active with a Christian church and rather pushy about it to the point where the first talk we had (I thought it was going to be about work) ended up being a sales pitch for Christianity and he gave me a pocket bible - this is during working hours. Later I find out he did this with a lot of the new-hires. Then every summer he would take a two week vacation to return to his home town in India to do missionary work. :D

And just for laughs, he was the head of engineering and in a meeting he once asked "What's 3/8?" It wasn't until the other engineering manager said ".375" that I realized the head of engineering just asked what 3/8 was converted to a decimal. D: You can imagine how useful he was at his job, where passing off others work as his own was apparently morally OK.

I'm sorry for everything I said, rudeguy.

I only said those things because of my deep feelings for you.

I went through a period where I thought that religious folks were the most ignorant people walking the planet. How could they believe in something that when looked at in a logical manner was patently false, etc., etc., was beyond me. My feelings were so strong about the subject that I could be heard to rail on about it from time to time. As you hear here.

Then I matured. And that rudeguy, is what it's all about. That, and the brainwashing that several generations have received in our public schools. Brainwashed to believe that understanding and tolerance were of the utmost importance except for the beliefs and covenants of the very nation we live in. They've been taught that we're bad.

You're experiencing the end result here. Just tune them out. Watch for the signs of indoctrination in little rudeguy because our schools will warp his mind too.

Just so everyone is clear, I am an atheist. But what or whom you choose to worship is your business and as long as you're not trying to foist it on me, why should I even care?

If a few Jehovah's followers want to knock on my door on Saturday I have the choice of not answering or politely declining their invitation. No biggie, they'll leave. If some misguided folks want to picket funerals I can get outraged the same as the majority and hope our leaders address the issue. I can even contact my reps to express my concerns. I know that they are an extremely small minority and can recognize what's going on and not see it as an affront.

I can also recognize the beliefs our country was formed upon and not find them frightening or threatening to my way of life. They're not, but if they were I would leave. I understand that I would have two choices, to go to where I wished to live or stay and fight with a small minority to try and change the core of what our nation was founded upon. Which makes more sense to a reasonable person? Of course some folks like to bitch, piss, moan and scream to the rafters. Some are intolerant of tolerance. It's what they were taught.

Flip them the bird and ignore them. Haters gonna hate.

I don't like when Christians espouse ridiculousness. I used to work with a very religious guy(he actually became a preacher after getting layed off), and I could have some good philosophical discussions with him until he said something stupid. I can't remember particulars, but they were on the scale of saying the earth is 6,000 years old. Everything would be going great, then he'd lay something like that on you like a loud fart. I can work with fancy, and abstract ideas, but when you say something that's just dog shit wrong, the conversation's over.

lol, the Persecution Complex is alive and well. There's approx a 50/50 split in P&N.

I dunno if it is quite 50/50....60/40 maybe.

Of course I'm a fiscally conservative don't give a damn what you do in your private life so you can fuck goats, as long as they are willing and of consenting age, if you want to atheist so I'm a bit hard to categorize.

the only thing wrong with this forum is the moderation. Some forums have absolutly no insults or cursing..like PCptistop. Go there and even be so much as kidding around with someone and your banned.
But their over the top, thats why that forum is sooo boring. I much prefer Guru3d's forum cause its the right amount of moderation, they get rid of insulters and trolls but leave the forum open enough for fun.
Forums need a certain amount of reasonableness and shun out those who purposefully try to anger others. The worst forum i seen was a car audio forum where a Moderator actually edited my post turning my words around into an insult and left it for another Moderator to see, from which i was threatened with a ban which i found to be the most childish, yet funny things ive ever seen on any forum. I knew which mod did it, he even flames most others but at least this forum isnt quite that bad. when the Mods go corrupt, then you know its bad.

Moderation is best when it's very light. I think they do a pretty good job here. There's been some bans I don't agree with, but all in all, they do well.

I dunno about that. Believe me, I have been round and round with the mods in the past. Just ask any of the old time P&Ners and they will verify.

I actually think the moderation is better here now than it has been in a great while. Making the mods known has a lot to do with that. In the past I always felt there were some mods that had vendettas and were very heavy handed against certain posters and used their anonymity to hide behind after being so.

I don't see that anymore and to me the forums, P&N included, feel much more relaxed than they did in the past.

i see no point in being so relaxed as to let others personally attack people, curse them..etc. its childish and pointless. even the constant use of calling others morons is redundant. posters should learn intelligent ways to have a debate and reason ideas.

The thing about spirituality is that I'm not even sure what it really is. I think of it as a sort of mental connection with that which is not real.

Ya, a perceived mental connection with something or someone that has no basis in reality for existing.

Then every summer he would take a two week vacation to return to his home town in India to do missionary work.

I was visiting my uncle's town few years back when I encountered a rally of some sorts where people chant slogans about How Jesus is the savior, Jesus is the only god and blah.. blah. But then a young girl holding a poster caught my eye, it read "Jesus clears all your debt" and I am pretty sure she had no idea what she is doing.. cos these missionaries pay people to participate in rallies(Hiring people is damn easy in India).

Also, there is a fucking lunatic of a preacher by the name K.A Paul. He statements are so ridiculous that even a person with half a brain knows he is wacko.

He says he personally owns a Boeing 747.. when infact an organization called "Global Peace One" owns that(He created that organization). He also said that he stopped 7 wars... and had he not intervened the world, as we know it, would have ended. A brief history of that said plane from wikipedia.. just for the lulz:
Through charitable contributions to his organization, several of Paul's backers provided funds to purchase a 747SP airplane that Paul named "Global Peace Ambassadors" and it flew under the alias "Global Peace One". Paul used the plane for missions to Third World countries, delivering aid to disaster areas and to countries with people in need. The plane itself had an interesting history, having belonged to China Airlines previously. On February 19, 1985, an engine failed, and the plane, filled with passengers, made an uncontrolled descent from 41000 feet to 9500 feet and made a full 360 degrees aileron roll above the Pacific Ocean on flight from Taipei to Los Angeles before the pilots regained control and landed safely. A former crew member described it as a "flying death trap". In 2005, the pilot, co-captain and flight engineer quit because of concerns over maintenance and non-payment of debts.
In one of his statements recently he said, and I quote, "Steven Spielberg approached me personally.. and said that he wanted to make a movie about my life." I am damn sure that Paul did not know Spielberg is a Jew.. cos he hates them.

You can easily gauge the stupidity of his followers.. and he is said to be one of the leading preachers in India.

An article about, His wackiness K A Paul:

P.S. He has become a naturalized US citizen and is now based in Houston. /Facepalm/
