Like how North Korea is getting around some of the sanctions they got hit with, I wonder how effective those sanctions levied on Putin and his oligarch cronies will be monitored and enforced.

It seems to me there will always be black market operators more than willing to exploit the sanctions for fun and profit. China will surely be a major avenue of clandestine trade meant to mitigate the effects of the sanctions as far as import/export of sanctioned goods and services are concerned.
I talked to couple friends in mainland China, and it appears that the majority of mainland Chinese think that Russia's invasion is justified. They argue that it's the West that has been breaking promises with Russia and pushing Russia to its limit and forcing Russia to react. Since their mind is pretty much fvcked and controlled by the ccp, you can bet that the Chinese government is not neutral and instead they are in bed with Putin. They just won't admit it because they still need the wealth from the West.

I find that it's really hard to talk to mainland Chinese when there's any politics involved. They have been brainwashed to pro Russia and against US and West, they think the Western countries are jealous of China's growth and power and wanted to oppress their growth and prosperity. There's hypocrisy there though, as few mainland Chinese want to go to live in Russia yet a large number want to live in Western countries.

This is funny (not in a ha-ha way) to me...it wasn't that long ago, the worrld was worried about the Sino-Soviet conflict.

Yes, and that relationship can be very fragile as well as it is very calculating. Currently the agenda is "the enemy of our enemy is our friend". When a government has total control of the media it is scary.

Lookie what Ukrainian forced managed to capture

That's "V" Team.
They probably list to the "Z" team when they were doing exercises.
Be interesting to see data on where V vs Z marked equipment were deployed and captured

Hey, it's a way out of Russia. Get sent to Ukraine and give yourself up right away (they pay you for that too!).

Kyiv = Ukranian spelling
Kiev = Russian spelling

Think of it like calling a trans woman she/her vs. calling a trans woman he/him. The latter makes a person a piece of shit if they do it on purpose.
So, I can properly say Bruce Jenner wants me to call her Bruce because she is so entitled, right?

I'm not comprehending the whole pronoun thing. I grew up when you didn't get to choose your own pronouns and decide what sex you want to be going forward. If anyone can explain all this to me, please do...

Can someone enlighten me as to what the point of this is?

Why even negotiate? Negotiations shouldn't be on the table until every single Russian is out of Ukraine. What could Ukraine possibly want to give Putin? What could Russia offer in exchange?

The Ukrainians now have cities with no heat, power or water. Opening up humanitarian escape corridors for civilians was primary goal of Ukrainians today.
(Edit: obligatory snark, it only took 7 days of Russian missiles, artillery, and bombs, to achieve what Texas accomplished inadvertently by negligence)

Well they did negotiate the (supposedly) safe corridors for civilians...
Just words and ink on paper that mean nothing really.

And what did they give the Russians in return?
