I talked to couple friends in mainland China, and it appears that the majority of mainland Chinese think that Russia's invasion is justified. They argue that it's the West that has been breaking promises with Russia and pushing Russia to its limit and forcing Russia to react. Since their mind is pretty much fvcked and controlled by the ccp, you can bet that the Chinese government is not neutral and instead they are in bed with Putin. They just won't admit it because they still need the wealth from the West.Like how North Korea is getting around some of the sanctions they got hit with, I wonder how effective those sanctions levied on Putin and his oligarch cronies will be monitored and enforced.
It seems to me there will always be black market operators more than willing to exploit the sanctions for fun and profit. China will surely be a major avenue of clandestine trade meant to mitigate the effects of the sanctions as far as import/export of sanctioned goods and services are concerned.
I find that it's really hard to talk to mainland Chinese when there's any politics involved. They have been brainwashed to pro Russia and against US and West, they think the Western countries are jealous of China's growth and power and wanted to oppress their growth and prosperity. There's hypocrisy there though, as few mainland Chinese want to go to live in Russia yet a large number want to live in Western countries.
