I mean, if Russians went out and gave Putin the Mussolini treatment, I'm not going to lose sleep. Hell might even sleep better. But even suggesting something like this, let alone putting your name too it just sets a precedent you don't want to start.
Thousands are currently dying everyday solely because of one man's ego. I see nothing wrong with hoping for a revolution, which would almost certainly include his killing.

Moldova has signed application for EU membership.

Edit: Georgia too apparently.

Russia has sealed the land border with Georgia.

The meaning is whether you adopt the language of the aggressor or the country itself. ‘The’ Ukraine adopts Russian language in that Ukraine should be viewed as part of a greater Russian whole. Ukraine itself drops that because they don’t want to be.
Same with Kyiv vs. Kiev:

I hope he leaves Kiev because I think Russia will take it and his country needs his leadership.

EDIT: In my head I read that as NATO membership...
Never mind

Polls and statements are great, but that's not actual movement in that direction to actually make it happen. Ukraine has their intent to join NATO enshrined in their constitution.

Point being, none of that is recent. None of that is "new". None of that is actually driving the need for Putin to invade now. NATO on the border of Russia/Soviet states has been a thing as long as NATO has existed. It's a red herring. A talking point. What he's really after is not having any former soviet states look like a functional western democracy on his borders. That is his main concern. Sure, there are strategic issues with LNG/pipelines/access to Black Sea in Ukraine, but those are just gravy.

If he was really concerned about countries joining NATO, he just gave at least 2 countries with arguably stronger strategic positions (Sweden/Finland) a great reason to go that route.
TBH I think the whole question is kind of meaningless right now. Putin wants Ukraine. If he gets it they don't join NATO or EU. Not while he's on Russia's throne.

Ukrainian grammar police out in full effect.
If you need a manual on how to pronounce Kyiv, and people still butcher it, maybe stick to Kiev?

So, please explain. What's the best way to spell the capital of Ukraine? Um, and why?
Kyiv = Ukranian spelling
Kiev = Russian spelling

Think of it like calling a trans woman she/her vs. calling a trans woman he/him. The latter makes a person a piece of shit if they do it on purpose.

It's not meaningless. Understanding his reasons/thinking is probably one of the most important (if not the most important) things the west needs to do right now. And for as long as he's still in power for that matter. All of our major decisions will rely on that in regards to how he'll react/interpret them.

It was the Winter games in South Korea. Tensions very high with NK. We had a B-52 on alert in Guam during those games.
Now it's all coming back to me. Recent memory is the first to go. Couldn't offend his pen pal.

Don't they both use the Cyrillic alphabet natively, so neither are correct? :p
