History 101 on this conflict. Brought to you by Stoltenberg:

You might want to get up to speed on this conflict bud. It started way before Russia launched the SMO. Do some research instead of just believing whatever the television set tells you.

Why did Russia invade a country that had nothing to do with it in 2014? No one is arguing that this war didn't start in 2014, that much is obvious.

You need to point out who attacked Russia, first.

There's an election in Slovakia on the 30th ... one of the leading candidates has openly expressed they'd end military support for Ukraine, "... we won’t send any arms or ammunition to Ukraine anymore."

I think Ukraine has gotten most of what they wanted from Slovakia (Migs and air defense) already. To the extent their new built military products are being purchased by Ukraine or the EU on Ukraine's behalf not even the Serbs will turn down that money.

Things become real spicy if the United States (and thus Turkey) join Hungary and Slovakia in assisting Russia.
Thankfully we have another year before that can occur. But if it does...

The Putin "wait until 2025 and everything will be fine" strategy likely has a few problems with it.

Wait, what?? Oh, you mean that some Republican dunderhead president would do a 180 on US policy. So, Georgie Bush looking into Putin's eyes and saw he had a good soul (barf). Putin presented GWB with a cross that supposedly belonged to his mother and had survived a fire or something like that. And Bush believed Putin was being genuine. LOLZ. The Russian's really ginned that up with the GOP base. Putin's a deeply religious guy (again, barf). Now we are stuck with MAGATs descended from that moment who love Putin. It's so freaking sad.

Why does an internal Ukrainian matter result in them getting attacked by Russia? If Canada replaces Trudeau should they be invaded by the US?

You see it's really America's fault for a revolution that overthrew a Russian stooge who was doing really unpopular things (specifically in this case rejecting an agreement with the EU their parliament ratified) and the boil over of long simmering discontent about rampant corruption in the country which was heavily practiced by said stooge.

Makes total sense.

This cannot be much more complex than what Ukraine is doing to program their Storm Shadows/SCALPs.

Every time Germany is like "hm maybe too complex for the AFU" they end up completing the training way faster than the book says. It will be the same for this.
There is no western system in existence the Ukrainians could not operate given appropriate training and support.

Beyond general German red tape loving the western experience in Iraq and Afghanistan has us in some bad habits about assessing the capabilities of Ukraine.

He must adhere to GOP Jesus' teachings about loving thy neighbour so much you starve them of oxygen with bear hugs :D

I wonder how well protected that line under construction is. It's almost like the Russians are saying "Hey bomb the crap out of this cheap rail line with your very expensive ordnance delivery systems rather than our ammo dumps, HQs, AD, fuel dumps and troop concentrations......Puh-leeezze?"

Interesting thoughts from the Ukrainians on some of the weapons they've gotten. I'm sure owners of any German car made ever will be shocked to hear the Germans made something that is nice and fancy but also needs a lot more maintenance than other options (In this case a M777). If they ever really get to operate their Leopards it will be interesting to see if those carry on that same tradition for German made tanks

A crew of Ukrainian artillerymen operating outside Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine praised the accuracy and rate of fire of the Panzerhaubitze.

The constant use of the Panzerhaubitze, though, has led to breakdowns, according to Ukrainian artillerymen. One of the machines operated by the Bakhmut crew caught fire and had to be taken back to Germany, and the electronics in the automatic loading process malfunctioned in another. It is now loaded manually.

The weapon’s makers attribute problems to a combination of being fired too much and a lack of servicing. “If they take care of the electronics, it works,” said Armin Papperger, Rheinmetall’s CEO.
M777, HIMARS, M270 and the CV90 have gained attention by not just Ukraine but other countries based on their performance with a lot of orders and ramped up production lines expected. Hmm....I wonder how Russia's arms export business is going

I mean, everything has a service life. But for a cannon, that service life should have long legs. If they're burning through the electronics in a few days or even weeks, that's a bit fragile.

The PzH2000 has a reputation of being an excellent system but also that it’s “sensitive” per the crews. I imagine some improvements are being made to the RCH 155s which mount essentially the same gun. Supposedly the Krab is favored above all other pieces they’ve received.
