Most women use internet forums to talk about celebrities, purses, shoes and other fashion. Also, for shopping for those same things.

Guess that's why I post here. I have no interest whatsoever in celebrities, purses, shoes, or fashion, or shopping. And I owned/operated a computer business (spouse and I custom built all computers we sold and fixed them) for several years.

What's the story behind the "H" boycott?
i don't think he ever answered anyone. clearly it's a troll maneouver. it's probably in the first chapter of the troll handbook. "develop a quirk in your posts and stick to it, you'll be surprised how much it annoys other members."

My wife gets her entire internet experience through facebook now (even hot deals), I can only assume other women are similar.

I think he said it was something to do with Family Guy.

They're like fairies. You have to believe in them.

That or I'm continuing to use them in hopes that my feeble campaign to get them re-instated will work :p
Yeh, it's not that difficult to add smilies. Even I've done it on a messageboard.

What confuses me is how we have a handful of female members who post almost exclusively in L&R. How would they have come across that forum without posting/lurking anywhere else?

Also, there's no question that females use social networking more than males. A quick look at the wall on my Facebook homepage shows far more updates, more frequently, by my female friends.

My wife posted on here briefly, and sometimes reads posts or threads I leave up, but mostly she doesn't because of all the tards around here....she doesn't handle trolls very well, they tend to piss her off

oversensitivity is a reason there is scant female presence here? probably most don't want/need the insults. i'm not disagreeing with you.

No so much oversensitivity but just gender differences. Having originated as a tech forum, makes sense that the vast majority of the population would be guys, hence this became something of a guy forum. A guys' night out basically consists of making fun of and occasionally directly insulting each other and laughing about it. Girls' nights out are usually a little less blatantly competitive.

Yes I'm blaming society. :p

My best guess with this is that they search, then they're here, they sign up, get an answer to the IT question they asked and have no idea what to do next. They see threads by froot loops, snake-man, and whomever else and think "what did I just click" - they are confronted with predominated male threads with male advice and ideology.

They don't seem to feel the need to conform with the "yez I has agree" "qft" IT consensus that we try to reinforce on each other. Only relationship wise. So they find L&R and it's "oh! so" perfect, their area of expertise that man has yet to master. So that is where they can profess their knowledge, intuitiveness and opinion(s).

You know, I just realized I've never really seen a REAL female troll post around anywhere. The odds of that are probably like 0.0000001%. Excluding the troll types over like 50+ years of age though, that's my exception to this. Those are really common.

And alas, pity the arcadio situation.

Why do you think that is? I don't think the answer is, "because it's a tech site" anymore.

Let me ask you this question. What proportion of women are interested in coming to chat at a place that is full of immature teen male angst?

I don't see much attraction there.
