This had been driving me mad. Geez. Respect for him has nosedived.
He was one of my favorite guests on the Keith Olberman show. Devastated is not enough to describe my disappointment. His arguments are, I think he's probably guilty, but you have to take more time, and get more evidence, cause...……?

As we all have been saying: this is a political process. Facts don't matter and the Republicans know it. The point of the mindless stupidity of Republican questioning/grandstanding is to provide sufficient soundbites for Fox to feed to the base. That was Nunes' job and it is now Turley's job.

I know Trump is the greatest corruption fighter in the history of the universe but was there any like official administration policy on paper regarding the Ukraine corruption fighting efforts before the whistleblower report?

Anyone care to let turley know that trump hasn’t been impeached yet and only an inquiry has been done? He apparently doesn’t understand the process.
Most of the GOP doesn't understand the process, including the big orange idiot who the impeachment is about, so did you expect anything else? 😀

Oddly enough before this whole thing it was extremely rare for Trump to mention foreign corruption at all and he mentioned corruption in Ukraine specifically approximately zero times.

It's probably because he was so focused on fighting Ukrainian corruption that he couldn't find the time to tweet.

Screw the congressional questioning.

I'd rather sit and watch these 4 Constitutional experts ask each other questions. It wouldn't be a fair argument (3v1) but I think they are an entertaining group of witnesses.

You mean the greatest corruption fighter who's charity was guilty of corruption???

From an academic standpoint I agree, from a political standpoint it's apparently become very dangerous to even have a viewpoint that's counter to established norms due to the way they're abused by certain parties. Turley's admissions are going to be used as proof positive that Trump did nothing wrong, and never can do anything wrong, as long as he doesn't do a thing that's specifically spelled out by the framer's three centuries ago.

It's such a weak argument.

I imagine a far more damaging (and compelling) argument would be if Republicans were able to claim they weren't allowed to call any witnesses to defend Trump.

Republicans completely misrepresenting definitions of impeachment inquiry, impeachment.

I hear a Republican bitching about what else they could be doing such as election security.

Really?!! Election security. That thing Democrats put on Moscow Mitch's desks months ago and he is sitting on it.

Fuck them!!

Karlan just now on the subject of kings and nobility: "Trump can name his son Baron, but he can't make him one". 😀

It's sad that the hearing today is essentially an attempt to educate general public on the constitutional basics and why what Trump did is in fact a crime. They're literally having witnesses explain why we do not want foreign actors interfering in our elections and why we should not allow president to invite foreign interference.

Uh-oh. Trump and Fox News will accuse the lawyers of attacking Melania's son

GP listed every conspiracy theory actor. He says he wants witnesses to the facts but failed to call for the following. Wouldn't any of these people be able to provide exculpatory evidence in favor of Trump??

Mulvaney
Pompeo
Guiliani
Bolton
Barr

It sure is odd that the president is preventing all these people from testifying considering from all GOP arguments they should be perfectly situated to exonerate him.
