Better yet, come out with a real sequel to FFVII. Then even I would buy a PS3.

Id rather see a remake of 2 and 3 (american). 😉

fixed.

they don't even upscale the resolution of ps2 games so I don't see how it would make a difference.

you are misinformed.

link me to the correct information then, cause i've read all over it doesn't upscale anything, and that playing ps2 games over the hdmi cable looks awful, and even saw the video comparing normal ps2 to the hdmi ps3 one.

I have personally experienced the awfulness over hdmi and component cables. The game was ff12, over hdmi and component it displayed at 480p, it was obvious that this was the problem because you can plainly see that the ugliness is caused by extra horizontal lines and also because my TV told me that the source was 480p. Playing over composite at 480i fixes it and makes it look normal like it should look. Unfortunately I couldnt get it to play at 480i over hdmi or component. Would be nice to see a fix for that, but it is possible to play ps2 games and have them look just fine on a ps3.

You missed an important line, look for the bold.

Plugging in composite video is not getting your ps3 to upscale the signal.....

While plugging in a second set of cables makes it look better. People still say it doesn't look as good and I believe them.

Considering the PS3 has no games worth purchasing right now, not surpised. I'm not buying the PS3 because of the lack of killer app (looking forward to Metal Gear though). I know the main reason a lot of people bought the Xbox360 was solely because of Gears of War.

Its the damn cost, dump blu-ray and put a dvd player in it, fix the PS2 backward compatibility with it, sell it for $299 and I will buy it before the Wii and a X360.
Won't happen. The PS3 is and forever will be tied to Blu-Ray.

I know and they wont sell any for a long time because of it. Stupid asses.

And because of that I'm without a new generation console but the Wii. Wont buy a 360 till that gets fixed and a lot of issues with it are addressed. Then maybe I will get one.

Ive had my 360 since launch. Zero problems so far.

You running composite cables does not give you 480p randay.

It won't look good at 480p cause the ps3 doesn't scale it.

not to mention, who the hell is going to hook their ps3 up with composite cables?

you won't even get dvd resolution out of your blu-ray discs with that.

I havent said anything about the ps3 upscaling anything. Over HDMI and component, the PS3 displays the PS2 game at 480p resolution. This is why people are saying PS2 games look bad on the PS3. Getting the PS3 to display the PS2 game at 480i fixes the problem. Its simple.

You can have both HDMI and composite hooked up at the same time and just switch back and forth as needed. Thats what I do.

Oh okay that makes some sense. I haven't seen the ass of a PS3 so I don't know how the outputs look.

I'm sure sony can fix the issue with a firmware patch since they are fixing a lot of other issues that shoulda been fixed pre-launch. It sounds like it's just a scaler issue.

Actually, they may not be able to since the PS3 doesn't have a separate hardware scaler like the 360. They are in the same situation as the 360 is with HDMI... the current model doesn't have the hardware to support it. Unless they have a way of using software to scale or use the GPU to scale they are stuck.

Currently, PS2 and PS1 is emulated half software and half hardware. As indicated by Sony before launch, this is a temporary solution. Future units of PS3 will not have PS2 hardware, and emulation will be all software based. I was informed that PS2 glitch will be fixed in update 1.5.

Yeah, when this was first being brought up, Sony PR came out and said it would be fixed soon and then came back with a "maybe not". This led many to believe that this isn't an issue that a simple firmware patch can fix because of the hardware inside the PS3.

I'm generally the kind of person who does not spend a lot on games - most of my games have been bought used for < $20. But even I own 5 games for my Wii. Rayman is incredibly fun. Trauma Center is very good. Anyone who thinks Zelda and Wii Sports are the only good games for the Wii doesn't know much about the Wii.

I would say more the type of games wii has right now are not just for them.

I don't like shooters, but I wouldn't say the Xbox 360 has no good games. Gears of War is a good game whether I like it or not.

Yup I agree. every console has good games regardless of whether someone likes them or not. in fact the game could suck and there will still be someone out there who likes it!

I think you missed my point. People keep saying there are no good games on the Wii other than Wii Sports and Zelda. That's not true, there are other games that are very good even if they don't match your tastes. There may not be any games that interest you other than Zelda and Wii Sports, but there are still other good games.

i get it and i agree. but what i meant to add is that its true for every other console and every other game in existance.

Wow, they only cut their forecast by 6 million? That's awfully optimistic for Sony 😛

With the PS2 still having another good year of life (God of War 2 anyone?), I think the PS3 should have been shelved for another year. Maybe then Blu-Ray and the fancy processor could have been sold at a price point to make it worthwhile. Plus, it would have given developers another year to figure out how to program for it.

Although, another year would give the Wii and 360 a killer headstart. Still, with enough great games out there, maybe people would be willing to buy another system a year from now.

Not just ATOT....everywhere else too. It's just really popular to kick Sony/PS3 while they are down because they seemingly have bad news come out on a nearly daily basis.

So pointing out articles/facts/etc is being a "fanboy" to the opposite side? 😕

I will admit to being a rabid Dreamcast fanboy though. 😀
