A 4th round draft pick would suffice. Maybe they could give it to the Jets, lord knows they could use it.Originally posted by: Jawo
I think that the NFL should make an example out of them....IMO its a clear violation of the rules, especially if the RF interference was induced by the Pats! Strip them of draft picks or lower their salary cap for the next year(s).

The NFL needs to figure out something more then cutting draft picks. the Pats are stacked with plenty of low-life cheaters already like crybaby Brady and bitchass Moss.
While I can understand rooting for you team, I have played competitive sports. Surely not on this level, but sport is sport. You WILL make every attempt to win, you WILL constantly hit the weakest link. You will use every thing you have to win, within the rules of the game
Because if you win by breaking the rules, it isn't a win IMHO. Anybody who has played competively understands this.
Judgement calls on the field are one thing, flat out cheating and information gathering are completely different. Can you imagine what you could do with information that indicate how the defense is lining up????
Just FYI, Peter King said the Colts are known to do the same thing the Pats were caught doing SpideyNot that it makes what the Pats did okay, but we're all deluding ourselves if we don't believe this is happening all over the place.

The punishment would fit the crime. I know some of you haters would like to see them crippled but I doubt the League is going to go overboard on this. They will set an example and losing any draft pick is pretty serious, even if they don't use the pick they can always trade it for a player.Originally posted by: Ackmed

Proof that they recorded defensive signals? Oh wait, you dont have any.
Dont make claims, that you cant back up.

That wouldnt do anything to them. They only used a 1st and 2nd round this year.

No, it's more like in baseball where everyone steals signals and nobody cares. I mean, HOW DARE they try to decipher their hand signals which is out in the open!?!?! This is an outrage!
Wrong, it's not a "non-issue", and the commish is about to kindly inform the Pats of that fact. They can indeed suspend the coaches, they can reverse the outcome of the game, they can take away draft picks, they can levy fines etc. We'll be able to judge the seriousness of the offense by what the commish does.....Originally posted by: BlinderBomber
What is the NFL going to do? Suspend coaches? Change the outcome of the game? Come on, the Pats were going to beat the Jets regardless of whatever this videotaping thing was. There is little chance any of this data could have been used 'live' anyway.

Agreed. Past league violations (Broncos spring to mind immediately) have resulted in the loss of a draft pick. I think what the Pats did is on par with the Broncos (for those that don't remember, the Broncos messed around with the salary cap in Elway's final year), therefore the loss of a draft pick I think is appropriate.

Stealing signs is not against the rules and every team in the league does it. The only thing they did wrong was video tape the signs. Saying that they cheated is pushing it IMO. They are guilty of recording signs, not stealing them.

Haha, and the Pats apologists immediately come out to try and defend cheating, class, pure class.

The ESPN.com report also states that the league is reviewing a possible violation into the number of radio frequencies the Patriots were using during Sunday's game and that the team "did not have a satisfactory explanation when asked about possible irregularities in its communication setup." In other words, besides watching and taping the coaches, the Patriots also may have been listening in.
Yeah they should suspend that guy caught with the camera!Originally posted by: fallenangel99
I hope Pats get punished, and punished hard. Yeah, every team may do it (just like steriods in baseball and other sports), but if you get caught, you must pay for it. Hopefully, there are suspensions..

This would explain how a 7th round draft pick that didn't even start at Michigan could become such a dominant QB. And why he still has to wear his rookie playbook wristband. When you know what's coming, you basically have to be able to hear "run play #4" in your headset, pass credibly and boom, you're a star.
A fair punishment would be loss of the Jets game (sets the precedent that if you cheat during a game, you lose that game), loss of at least both 1st round draft picks (all day 1 picks would be nice, but maybe unrealistic), bigtime suspension of whoever the scapegoat is that's offered up (it probably won't be Belicheck).
I'm surprised no one has mentioned the extra radio equipment that was also found at the game. The Patriots couldn't explain that one. They may have been listening in on the Jet's offensive signals, too.

PaulNECheatriotsFan, do you have any proof of the Colts "doing the same thing"? Does King? Do you even have a link to show that King ever said that? Probably not, because like all these other Pats apologists telling us how much of a non-issue this is, you're full of it. You and the Patriots organization deserve each other.
If the Colts did something like this I'd be embarrassed and disappointed in my team, and you can bet the farm, tractor, and state fair prize pig (that's what we talk like here in Hicktown, IN, right?) that Pats fans would be screaming "CHEATERS!!!" at the top of their lungs with everyone else.
Goodell has them by the balls. I hope he has enough balls of his own to squeeze.
During his first full year as starter, he set Michigan records for most pass attempts (350) and completions in a season (214).[9] Brady was All-Big Ten both seasons and team captain his senior year. The Wolverines won 20 of 25 games when he started and shared the Big Ten Conference title in 1998. Brady capped that season off with a win over Arkansas in the Citrus Bowl. In the 1999 season, Brady led Michigan to an overtime win in the Orange Bowl over Alabama, throwing for 369 yards and four touchdowns.
That's probably what will happen. BTW, this incident had nothing to do with the shellacking the Pats gave the Jets as the tape was confiscated before the Pats staff could use it. Just imagine how bad they would have beaten the pathetic Jets if they had gotten it.Originally posted by: jman19

No, they should suspend the coach for letting this crap happen on his watch.
